It claims to S-off any HTC device that is rooted/unlocked.

Hey Guys and Girls,
I am at a loss here and i really need your help.
I have recently got a HTC one Max and i have unlocked the bootloader.
So now my finger print scanner will not work.
I have been on here all day trying different ways to get the bootloader locked again, but noting works.
revone wont work, rumrunner wont work.
I have hboot 2.47.0000
now i have read somewhere that anything above 1.55 wont be able to get s-off, which will enable me to lock the bootloader.
Please can some one help...............:crying:
Ohhhh guys please help,
I flashed another boot.img file and now the t6 is just resetting itself over and over again. I cant get to the bootloader or shut the phone down.
PLEASE PLEASE HELP !!!
Alright, let's get some clear information here...
So you've unlocked the bootloader, correct?
Edit: okay, I see what you mean now. I'm assuming that you have tried to s-off via rumrunner, but it is failing. How exactly is it failing?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
You can't lock it unless u are s-off. But kitkat is just days away and my guess is that we will get a new hboot version and then we take it from there. Cheer up and flash back your own bootloader, and wait.. Wait.. Wait

You need to disable your firewall/Anti-Virus for RumRunner or it will fail.
Your fingerprint scanner needs a locked bootloader to function. You can change the bootloader flag to Locked again after S-OFF and that will restore your fingerprint scanner.

The fingerprint Scanner checks the bootloader status. If the status is Unlocked the Fingerprint Scanner is disabled. You can "Lock" your bootloader again but using my tool in Scotty1223's thread or following the step by step instructions. The Thread is in the General Section. Additionally, we do not user RevOne at all as it was designed for the HTC One. Granted the phone hardware is similar but some newer users may break something if we suggested using even 1 function of a tool for another phone. So I tend to avoid offering HTC One tools.

You can't use HTCDev Token to unlock your kernel, Recovery and System paritions?
If you can't use HTCDev then you will need to use Rumrunner to achieve S-Off. Disable Firewall and Anti-Virus prior to running Rumrunner as indicated in the instructions for Rumrunner.

As far as I know the term is the only difference. Insecure and unsecure are synonymous (as far as I know). We do know from Beanups that the hboot version is not a factor when S-OFF'ing using Rumrunner.
In most cases the reason most Rumrunner S-Off processes fail are due to one of the following:
User error in following the very specific Rumrunner directions.
Windows
HTC drivers installed and working – fastboot AND adb drivers
HTC sync removed (not closed – REMOVED)
All other phone software removed or disabled (Samsung Kies, PDANet, etc.)
VM’s are unsupported.
ALL firewalls and internet security applications should be totally disabled. If you get stuck with rows and rows of dots during the connection test process, it’s network filtering or other network issue!
A working internet connection
USB debugging enabled on your device
Fast boot disabled on your device (settings -> battery -> UNcheck “fast boot”)
Your device must be HTCDEV unlocked or rooted unless using rumrunner with a device blocked by htcdev (e.g. m7wlv)
Instructions
Once you confirm you meet the above pre-requisites, it’s time to get started.
Read all of the directions on this page before proceeding to the downloads page.
Ensure device is booted to android with usb debugging enabled.
USB 2.0 ports are preferred.
USB 3.0 ports are known to cause connectivity problems
You should not be connected using any hubs which may cause connectivity issues
Use the original HTC USB cable or a cable that you know to work with adb and fastboot on this device
Ensure that lock screen security is disabled on your device.
no passcode lock
no pattern lock
no face lock
Be sure to disable any Firewall or Anti-Virus applicatoins for the during of the Rumrunner process.

I think the rumrunner (0.5) is not working on the most recent purchased One Max international version... I tried several times but rumrunner always doing the <pouring x...> until it finally gave up on around 10 times.... I didn't update with unsecured kernel since on the rumrunner's web site, they said it's not relevant anymore...
Any other suggestions here?

Hello guys,
I apologise if I have created a duplicate thread for this issue-but I HAVE looked everywhere to find a solution to this. I am not a 100% expert so please excuse me if I am being a time-wasting nerd.
However, in a few words, the problem I am having is:
I bought HTC DROID DNA (from the states-brand new) and I managed to unlock the bootloader (S-Off) using the info from these threads and for some really silly reason I decided and managed to relock it. Now it is showing ''Relocked'' and ''S-ON''.
I have tried everything I could find so far to unlock the bootloader (i.e. S-Off) (rumrunner, moonshine, traditional method(since I ve got the original unlock token)).
Can anyone please, please let me know how to S-Off as I would like to install a custom ROM since I can't get any updates in the UK-(which I don't see coming anytime soon anyway.)
Thanks very much.

But I think firewater should work too.
I used firewater on 4 phones. I only had problems when I missed a step. Try again from the beginning. From stock after ruu.

Will try again as you suggest though.

Got my phone relocked know gonna run the ruu

If you take the phone back to an ATT store for an exchange or to have them fix it, you don't have to return it to stock. they don't check and they don't care. The only time you need to return it to stock is if you are having to send it back to HTC. If at all possible deal with ATT as they will most of the time just hand you a new one while HTC will give you a refurb. You won't get your original back from HTC.

As it is showing your device ID in fastboot mode, your phone is properly connected in fastboot mode. Does the screen say FASTBOOT USB? If yes, you can run RUU.exe file.
Yes it does and can run the ruu.... My issue know is how come adb says device offline with stock rooted Rom but with venom Rom it's connected but doesn't grant root when asked to through adb

Doesn't he need USB debugging and accept the computers adb key? That could be why he gets that.

how do i achieve s-off on hboot 1.56 ive tried rumrunner, firewater, arhd, venom rom
i think i used firewater for s-off,I unlocked via htc dev and then ran the firewater on numerous htc ones, you do need an unsecured boot image for your device though...root actually isnt needed,is a plus but i didnt root my devices and it worked with just a unsecured boot image I made

Hello everyone I'm a new VZW One Max owner and this device has proven to be the most complicated ive experienced so far in terms of Rooting/Bootloader unlocking/and S-off. (I'm temp rooted with weaksauce 1.0.1)
I cant seem to get the bootloader unlocked via HTCdev, and the firewater and rumrunner do not work for me either .
It seems like every method to help accomplish the above requires an unlocked bootloader, and after reading several threads the tool of choice is firewater.
While reading the thread for firewater I noticed it said it is for HBOOT 2.47, there was a note at the bottom of the thread for 2.49 HBOOT users but while following the instructions from that thread one of the steps was to unlock the bootloader via HTCdev :silly: . And install the Stock HTC 1.19xxxx
How can that be done in my situation?
Ive attached errors i've been experiencing from firewater and rumrunner.
***For rumrunners I'm using the custom device specific download. But i've seen all types of errors from flashing a new kernel to using a more updated version.
Verizon HTC One Max Android Version 4.4.2 with HBOOT 2.49
Thanks for any steps in the right direction!

If you still need help with this, I recently did this on a Verizon One Max, double check the following:
Fastboot mode is off in the power/battery settings
No lock screen security enabled, pattern, pin, face, nothing should be on
Leave the screen on a long timeout, or no timeout for this process, adb may prompt RSA checks you'll need to grant permissions to.
Remove all super user apps, busybox installer apps, supersu, superuser, whatever
Then:
Run weaksauce app
Install supersu from play store or you can adb install the apk if you have the updater zip or apk on your PC
After you have su (# prompt instead of $ after typing su) in adb shell turn off WiFi, leave mobile data on:
adb shell
su
If you see it change to # then proceed, if not, reboot and run weaksauce again, wait for a minute and try the commands again.
Exit adb shell (type exit and hit enter twice)
Push firewater to /data/local/tmp
adb push firewater /data/local/tmp
Set 755 permissions on firewater:
adb shell
su (if not on # prompt, it should still be there)
chmod 755 /data/local/tmp/firewater
Run firewater (still in shell, don't close the terminal or exit from su/#):
/data/local/tmp/firewater
Last time it froze the first time, then the second try it went through on the second bottle. If you see no improvement after 3 minutes hold power for 60 seconds until it reboots the device, then start again from the weaksauce running part.
Hope this helps. I did it over team viewer with another user and this is what finally got it to get it all finished.
Rumrunner doesn't work with verizon 2.49 that I can tell, it'll be weaksauce and firewater.
HI Fellow XDA member.
I intially tried everything and failed. So I have decided to factory reset my Verizon HTC one MAX, and
redo the s-off. It finally worked!!!
Here are the exact steps.
Credit to MrT69 for his awesome collection of drivers.
Credit to the Firewater team for the awesome program.
Credit to all the XDA members for their contribution and anyone else I forget.
Here is my software version:
Android 4.4.2, Sense 5.5, Software version 2.16.605.2
HBoot 2.49.000
1. Factory reset your Verizon HTC One Max.
* Press and hold the VOLUME DOWN button, and then press and hold the POWER button.
* Wait for the screen with the three Android images to appear, and then release the POWER and VOLUME DOWN buttons.
* Press VOLUME DOWN to select FACTORY RESET, and then press the POWER button.
2. Go thru the basic setups. Setup Wifi which is require for Firewater to work. Make sure wifi is working.
3. Enable developer Options : Setting - About - Software - More - Tap on Build number 5 times.
* Checked - USB debugging
* unchecked - everything else
4. Goto Security.
* Check - Unkown sources
* Uncheck - Verify apps.
5. Goto Display
* Screen timeout - 1 hour.
6. Download and install Es Explorer ( or any file manager of your choice )
7. download drivers from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2765383
8. Install the driver in the freshly installed windows 7, x86, sp1.
9. Download Weaksauce from here. Copy into phone thru Windows Explorer
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2699091
10. Install using Es Explorer. Click I agree.
10a. Download Firewater from here
http://firewater-soff.com/instructions/
(CRITICAL - Download with Internet Explorer, WILL NOT WORK WITH ANY OTHER BROWSER.)
11. Now Run CMD.exe as Administrator in windows. Make sure adb.exe and firewater is in the same directory.
12. type the followings:
adb devices
*make to to watch the phone screen to give permission to the program.
* make sure you see the device number and device,
* if offline, that means you missed the screen to give permission to the program
adb reboot <–important!!!!
* after reboot, rerun WeakSauce and click I agree to make sure root is working.
adb wait-for-device push firewater /data/local/tmp
adb shell
su
chmod 755 /data/local/tmp/firewater
/data/local/tmp/firewater
13. Your Verizon HTC one Max is now S-OFF!!!
Discussion.
I didn't bother to run temproot because there is some script program.
If this works for you, please leave a reply. Thanks.

Nope you are not. Check out Sunshine. It will take will unlock the bootloader and get you S off. You take care of the rest. I was completely stock on the sense 6 OTA when I found out about and used Sunshine. Sunshine does cost $25 to use, but for me, it was worth it.
Sounds promising. Thanks. I'm googling now.

Thanks for the advice. I googled SunShine, paid my $25, ran the app and BOOM!!! Unlocked! S-Off! and Root. All I had to do was fastboot flash the unofficial verizon 2.8.0.0 twrp recovery (that confused me for a few hours as well, I was getting errors with the official), install supersu and update the binaries and that was it. I'm chillin on some cyanogenmod now and loving it.

Glad it went easy for you. I have not put a custom rom on mine yet. I am considering it, but doing something stupid and borking a phone is not the same as borking a tablet. The tablet can sit until I can figure out what I did wrong. I cant do that with my main line of communications.

You can't flash anything while you are S-ON, bootloader locked, and you can't unlock the bootloader or get S-OFF without Sunshine. Once you are bootloader unlocked and S-OFF, you flash a custom recovery like TWRP so you can gain root and you can (if you choose) flash a custom ROM or other modifications. For the Verizon One Max, Sunshine is the only alternative.
It sounds like you haven't yet looked at other threads here to learn the difference between booting to bootloader, booting to recovery or booting to system, or what S-ON/S-OFF means, or what adb and fastboot are for. You should know all of those things before you wade in and accidentally brick your One Max.
There aren't a lot of devs still working on the device, but there are lots of threads in this forum and elsewhere on xda that will tell you what you need to know. "Search" is your friend.

I have looked at other threads and understand s-off, boot loader on/off, and stuff. What I don't understand, is how to install the custom recovery. I've seen tutorials for how to install custom recovery on the HTC one m7 but none for the one max. I'm not sure if there's a difference. Most of the threads I've seen simply say that I need sunshine, which I have installed on my phone but I'm trying to gather all the information I need on how to install a custom Rom before pulling the trigger and forking out $25.
