So I got a little carried away and went with the root method here on XDA using Odin, effectively tripping knox.
I've had the phone for about an hour. Well I didn't do an OTA update before rooting. I am currently on MI3. I would like to update to at least MI5 or whatever version gives the better call quality and can apply the free tether patch.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
I've scoured the web for the past 30 minutes and yet to find any working updates...they are all broken links. Please someone give me some guidance.
Thanks,
Jason

The Odin TAR will get you back to Stock MJ4,MJ4 is the latest OTA update.
NO they is no Knox resetter available , YET!!! There is a ongoing Bounty for Knox 0x0 Restet see here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2486346
Also there are some claims that their Knox counter has been reseted in or under 10 mins after a trip to Sprint/Samsung Repair Shop. The Service Person DID notice the 0x1 warranty bit but offer to "fix it" ( maybe they knew each other, customer and Service person?)
See here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2504258
You do have to check because I do not know if with a tripped Knox 0x1 you are able to upgrade to new boot loader without problems, I believe i have read somewhere about that been a "Feature" of Knox, just make sure maybe someone with more knowledge on the matter can pitch in on this. or maybe it only apply to updates over Kies and does not matter on Odin.

So I was able to get Stock MJ4, then I went back in with the same Odin3 CF-Auto Root I used before and it doesn't seem to be rooting now. Everything is working fine except for things that require root of course. It completely hung up the first time, then it went through the second time but didn't install supersu properly. Need to do some reading.

I have a Sprint SGS 3 rooted with build ALF9 model SPH-L710 in USA.
There is an update it wants me to install.
Will I lose root? If so, can I just go back to my clockwork recovery and restore it?
Or is it easy just to root it again the same way as before?
Thanks

Chances are you are going to lose root.
Can I just re-root it the old way (odin/clockwork I think), or will there be some protection
or need to find a newer root method?
Look here and read it good(to achieve update and root with new firmware and baseband)....:thumbup:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28612771
Also you can achieve the same goal( update and retain root)here too:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28597495

It won't install the upgrade rom.zip gives me an error
7 something and fails. Guess I have to wait for the
Sprint stock rom to be posted and then flash it,
then re-root or wait for a posted stock rom w/root
to flash from clockwork recovery?
CWM
you wont be able to install the update with clockwork as your recovery
Imma pm you in a minute and get you right just wait and ill let you know.....and you can flash through cwm ive done it twice...Did you make a nandroid of your stock rooted?

if you loose root, just re-root
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XoEVDgjTTdg&list=UUbR6jJpva9VIIAHTse4C3hw&index=5&feature=plcp
I unrooted, tried OTA and says none (which there was),
re-rooted again with newest rom manager and clockwork,
still can't flash the update. Guess I don't really need it
(what does it even do, I don't use wallet or dropbox).
But it would be nice to be able to flash updates in the future
without wiping anything.

I don't want to flash the original nandroid, as I would lose 100's of apps, saves, settings
that I do not want to take HOURS to fix. Will this method keep all my settings, saves, widgets, etc?
If not, don't I just wait for a rooted updated sprint rom all baked and flash it over mine so I don't lose
a thing? Also the link in #2 doesn't work, what file was it, I might already have it.
P.S. Still don't know what oxeded is or deoxed
Hi I want to install a custom rom on my mega since Touchwiz isn't that great. The last time I tried to root, I hard bricked. I'm too scared to try again so can any one tell me if I'm OK to root or shall I wait for new root kernel or something like that. I've done this kind of stuff on my old S2 and my Nexus 7 but I'm new to the way to Mega works, so can anyone tell me a link or tell me it's OK to root with my recently updated firmware. Thanks

Did you ever try Kingo Android Root as you install it on your pc and just follow the info in the program, it is easy to use and works very well on rooting many different models of Samsung phones.
You can't. You are running knox enabled firmware. You try to flash custom recovery, you'll brick again afaik.
Try this if you are bold.

I hate this new firmware GT I9200 XXUCNA5 XSE ( Indonesian ), any idea how to downgrade??? I still could use CWM to format/system and when finished flash XXUBMJ4 XSE and Secure FAIL : Kernel show up, then I flash again XXUCNA5 and back to normal again, and I flash CWM 6.0.3.2 and super su 1.93 and not busybox included, my factory app MAPS and YOUTUBE stop working and everytime I restart my I9200 at first on must wait until MAPS and YOUTUBE pop up UNFORTUNATELY ... HAS STOP WORKING, then I could use my device. This Real annoying, even I have disabled those things at application manager, my mind always being a terror that there were 2 app couldn't be used, just affraid I need them in the future.
Any Idea Silesh.Nair???
What's your reccomendation for CWM and Super SU???
I don't want to use CWM 6.0.4.7 coz a terrible interface and function, Now I still use CWM 6.0.3.2
I Really Regret for upgrading to XXUCNA5, if there's a way to rollback to XXUBMJ4, I will do it.
Thank You So Much Silesh.Nair
I don't think you can go back to any older firmware, not even a nandroid backup. Sorry man, I think you are stuck with it.
I am not an expert on knox, so I'll keep looking if there is a way out. I used the stock firmware only for 5 minutes after I got my phone. Its been custom roms all along.

As for now there is NO WAY to go back when one upgrade to KNOX-ed firmware. This is hardware driven thing, so forget... and enjoy your new shiny firmware with KNOX on behind... It's really pitty so that many people do not read nothing about theirs expensive phones before trying something unrecoverable, sometimes the very second day after purchasing... I will always try to help, but in this case there is nothing to do.

I hope you LOTR fans enjoyed that title.
So my little adventure has come to an end after stupidly and regrettably selling my previous i9200 Mega and for the last 3 months I was using a N1
But now I'm back on the Mega i9200 again! Oh boy. After using the N1 for so long, this thing again feels as ginormous as it did the first time I got it.
Once again this device feels like home to me again. Will all its good and bad points. :good:
And it seems the community/developing still is in the low side, but hey, I knew it was going to be like this anyway. Niche device.
Anyway to get on point, as I said I got another Mega i9200 and it seems its a French version.
Rom/build: JDQ39.I9200UBUCNA2 BB: I9200UBUCNA2 and my main concern its that it has the new fricking KNOX bootloader.
So I have been reading about how to root it without tripping KNOX and the only thing I find is the below thread from ValenteL.
ROM I9205XXUCML1 (Whit KNOX) <> [16/01] New ROM I9205XXUCNA2 (How to Root)
Here whats been bothering me:
1: So, is there any way to root the Mega without tripping the KNOX counter?
2: And why the HELL does this french version Mega i9200 scores 9300 in Quadrant while my previous Saudi Arabia version Mega i9200 score barely 7300?!!

When i got my mega i had also around 7300 points, when i updated to the new firmware i have now 9300+ points. And yea developing for our lovley mega is very bad :/ i had before galaxy note 1 n7000 omg so many roms and mods...
This is how I did my AT&T version, and I have it rooted with Kingo Android root...I did a clean install of the rom with Odin..I then applied to the Kingo root then went to super user, and it will ask if you want to disable knox and chose yes..After I disabled Knox..I rebooted and used Titanium Back and made back ups of the knox applications and cleared data on all..Then I uninstalled all signs of knox with Titanium and rebooted once more...Then I powered completely down..and went in to the bootloader...Still says official..and no custom lock icon shows up at boot...

Hmm. I'm sure you pressed yes. But that "definitely void warranty" is worrying.
Is your KNOX flag in download mode at 0x0 or 0x1?
I have 0x30 but that was before I stumbled across how to keep it from counting higher...Before it was showing system status custom in the bootloader I reflashed fresh with Odin to stock and then re-rooted and did the procedure I explained..Still shows official and no custom lock icon pops up when turned on...Oh...remember I have the AT&T version also and there's not in CWM's or safe straps for the SGH-I527..

Hey how's everyone doing, I've recently acquired a Galaxy Note 3 and was wondering what would I need to do in order to root? I been reading a bit but theres a lot of things I don't understand like NAB~ or knox~

This is what I have right now still stock straight from the Sprint Store

Best advice is to read around, these questions have been asked so many times, people are starting to ignore them. Take an hour and read up on the forums and you will find all the answers you need, if you get stuck with something in particular, ask in that thread. Best of luck.

The current systems people are using are, mj4, na4, nab, nabd; nab and nabd are the Kit Kat versions most are on, you are currently on mj4 (jelly bean). Knox is just security crap built into the phone, if you flash a recovery on your phone it will trip knox changing the setting to 0X1, basically a way they can see if you screwed with your phone and it might void your warranty should you have to return the phone. You can follow the directions in this post to help and if you run into problems, ask there, best advice is to read it all and then go from there, plenty of people there that will help if you stumble. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2630514

No real difference between NAB and nabd, use either one. If you take the update, which I would, it will put you in version nab and then all you have to do is root and flash a recovery and then good to go.

No, unfortunately once knox is tripped, it can't be reset. I'm pretty sure the 337 a and t are identical except for bloat and frequencies and I just used towelroot on mine today. Mines the a
I get "your device is not supported" what mod strings did you use Ive tried a few with no success. also, what kernel are you on ive read the some kernels (may 2014) worked but the one I have (jun 2014) did not
My kernel is here. Didn't use any special strings, just downloaded, installed and pushed the make it rain button.

I went into SuperSU after I rooted my SM-T330NU with CF-Auto-Root and it asked me if I wanted to disable knox - I said yes and it disabled it. I also installed Wanam Xposed and used the Security Hacks feature and Faked the system status to be set to "Official". I also deleted several of the knox system apps with Rom Toolbox Pro and it works great. I can still get OTA update from Samsung and no knox messages and knox is not tripped.
when t-mobile tab 4 was released it had a newer baseband n kernel than the other tab 4 devices, thats why towelroot doesn't work on it.
this was discuss in this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-4/help/sm-t337t-looking-root-method-t2853724

I'm not aware of any recovery for any of the 8" Tab 4 models.
If you root and an recovery becomes available (someone needs to make it) you should be able to install it.

Everyone should stay positive, patient and in due time we should all be happy. All thanks and recognition will be made known upon completion. Thanks to everyone helping out great work so far.
