Anyone able to get the equalizer / sound enhancements working after the update. I updated and now my controls aren't functional...
After clearing music effects cache twice, and sound enhancements within all apps, I forced closed both applications. Effects are working again after I restarted the phone twice!
After successfully getting the controls working with Google Play music / Sirius XM, I have no luck getting them to stick. Sounds revert back after one record or so

I have a rooted Atrix [1st one] with CM7 rom. Recently, I have started noticing that there is a continuous buzz sound from my speaker when I open an application like youtube/playerpro/any-game capable of playing audio. It's like a constant hiss/static sound and is pretty loud [easily noticeable].
The sound is there even : -- if I set all the volume-levels to zero when playing games like FieldRunners; -- I can hear it even if the video is paused in youtube/music is paused in the music player (player pro).
The sound will be gone if exit/force stop the corresponding application.
I don't know if its a hardware issue with my speaker or some issue with the installed CM7 ROM [I even turned on/off all the DSP Manager effects that come with CM with no results].
Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.
Wipe cache, date... the lot. Did you do it yet?
Yes matthew5025 .... I wiped cache/dalvik/data etc every time I update the ROM to new weekly release [data > not every time] ...

Are there any that'll work with beats audio? I know about Noozxoide but it doesn't work with the stock HTC Music app. Anyone know of any that can be flashed and used?
Thanks
I have used Equalizer and Equalizer FX with Beats Audio turned on with the stock music app. However after the JB update any third party equalizer I used gave me crap loads of issues with my phone for some reason. Reboots, force closes, tons of lag, skipping audio, losing voice dialing, etc.. I eventually downloaded PowerAmp. Poweramp kicks the $h1+ out of the stock music app in functionality and ease of use and Beats Audio quality any day. Especially since HTC decided to take about 7-10 equalizer settings away from us 3 or 4 OTA updates ago. I also think there is a Musicbox file you can flash on the forums somewhere. It was baked into MeanBean for a little while. It gave us back all the eq's HTC took away plus a few other added in.
Hey together. I'm a noob *duck* - but I did quite some search on google and on these forums before posting, and I'm not a very stupid noob.
Today I got the situation that no audio is audible any longer from my browser, games, audio apps, or from an audio player (all of them previously worked). This is the case for headphone and also the built in speaker. The problem occurred very likely after using skype. I also still have audio in phone calls and also I still have sound for ringtones and other alarms. Handset functioms all still work fine.
The first obvious thing I did was checking volume settings in the android settings. There I moved all sliders - the one responsible for regular audio did not give me any feedback. If I use the volume buttons on the phone while I'm on my home screen I get audible feedback - but that doesn't influence my problem.
Funnily the sound in skype still works. More funnily: during skype calls the audio from my browser or the audio player is also audible (I tried this just out of couriousity as I suspected Skype to be the cause of my problem. Et voila - I got sound from a TV News page and also from the Walkman app while the call on skype was still running. As soon as the call in Skype ended the audio from browser and adio player got muted again.
I also tried to kill skype during a call in order to kill it before it can again mute the audio - No luck. as soon as the skype app is killed also the audio from audio player and Browser vanishes.
I also tried some audio apps - all have the same issue of having no sound.
I then tried different apps which control volumes - without any luck. So at the moment I don't have audio, except during skype calls.
I guess that skype has either access to some hardware settings which aren't used usually (I hated skype for things like this as long as it had existed) - or I'm missing something very obvious. Or something else. Does anybody of the developers here know about linux settings I could modify? (is there something like alsamixer which is only possible to access via jni or similar?)
// Edit:
Just found out that toggling airplane mode ON I have sound for media (audio player, browser). (but also lose the ability to use my cellphone and network). As soon as I switch back to airplainmode OFF also audio is muted again. And for sure - I also tried rebooting in different states of my phone quite often without any difference.
// Edit 2:
looks like I found a workaround but no permanent solution - I installed an app SoundAbout (free app) recommended for similar problems in an other thread: 89996-galaxy-s3-media-volume-stuck-mute.html (I have now put output permanently to "headphones" for media sounds. However as soon as this setting is reset to the default (let app decide) it is muted again when airplane mod is set to off - looks like an other app resets it? (could not find any app obviously doing this though as I stopped the usual suspects)
I still suspect Skype as the original reason for this problem as I just recently had it updated when the problem appeard and it also messes with this kind of stuff during usage (and I don't really use other apps dealing with audio except of browser, music player which weren't updated for a long time).
Maybe also of concern:
It's an sony xperia p, running Android 4.0.3 and it is currently rooted.
Hello,
I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 16 GB with rooted XXELLA stock firmware, 32 GB SDCard. I use Spotify to listen to my music through a Soundwear SD10 bluetooth headset.
The built-in MusicFX (1.4) equalizer works fine and I can tell the difference in the sound quality for a couple of days, then, though the MusicFX app seems to be still running, the sound goes back flat (not equalized). When this happens, the On/Off button on the app makes no difference to the sound and the only thing I can do to fix the problem is to reboot the phone. Bear in mind that I may turn on/off bluetooth and headset several times during the 2 days period mentioned, and play/pause/resume songs in Spotify as many times.
In order to try to prevent a reboot I have tried to stop/restart, disable/enable, clear data, cache, etc. for MusicFX to no avail. The funny thing is that I have tried a few other equalizers (Equalizer, the "other" MusicFX app, etc.) and all of them suffer from the same issue: they stop providing equalization after 1 or 2 days. I have also tried Awesome Beats and the ported DSP Manager from Cyanogenmod but they just do not work on my S3. I have alerady reset my phone to factory defaults, cleared data/cache and this problem persists through the various firmware upgrades (I had XXELL5 originally)/factory resets, etc.
I use the Spotify widget and also the latest JKay Deluxe settings/framework, which helps me keeping Spotify in memory (otherwise the widget renders useless when I try to resume a playlist after a few hours). I cannot add MusicFX to the list of "protected apps" in JKay as it's not listed in the app drawer.
Has anybody come across a permanent solution for this or a similar problem?
Thanks in advance.

Hi thanks JJegan. Any clues on how to replace the MusicFX apk? To what version, etc?
Hi. I'm using a rom made by PecanCM. It's on 4.4.2 that could be found here.
I noticed that when I listen to music on my headphones and whenever I go into my homescreen, the music player would pause and not play the song anymore. I've tried 2 music applications (Apollo and Shuttle +) and it kept on doing the same thing on both apps. I've tried resetting the phone but the problem still persists.
I've searched and found out that a lot of people have similar issues and all they had to do was upgrade their music app. I've tried it with shuttle + but it didn't really work. I am not quite sure what's wrong with it, so can anyone please help?
AOSP - playing music only in homescreen
The same issue is for me. I have Samsung Note 2, now running on Paranoid Android 4.4.2 - the music apps (N7 player, Apollo, Google Music) play the music only on the home screen. When the notification panel is active, or the apps list, or any other app is active (including the music app itself), the music is playing, but there's no sound output to the headphones. If the headphones are disconnected, the music plays fine via the speaker or Bluetooth connection. I believe that this is a general bug for all 4.4.2 AOSP ROMs (I've tried Linaro CM11 build as well)

Ok, problem solved!
The reason for this was the new Google Now Launcher and its setting of reacting to "Ok Google". I'm not a developer but I think it's conflicting with other ports/drivers/listeners of the events. So you have to disable this feature in the launcher settings - and there you go! Back to normal music flow.
Google Now --> Settings --> Voice --> Hotword Detection (disable it!) --> Reboot the device
I'm having the same issue on an HTC Rezound running 4.4.2, it cropped up with the latest update to Google Search. I was running the GEL launcher and had not updated to the Google Now version when the problem started. I had to disable hotword detection also.
If anyone is still interested, I have just solved this problem on my brother's Galaxy Note 2 running CM11 M8 by changing the CPU governor to ONDEMAND. Hope it works for others out there!
SOLVED
Had the same problem, just disabled google hotword detection and everything worked fine
Similiar Audio Issue
I have a VS985 (Verizon lg g3) running cm 13 nightly 09/01/2016 and when I am listening to music (poweramp, google music, and built in music player) or audiobooks (smartaudiobook and audible) and I open an a game, the music player just closes and stops playing. Even the icon in the notification bar disappears. If I have heave headphones with music controls hooked up I can use those to restart the music. Is there anyway to fix this? The google hotword disabling and reboot did nothing to fix this issue.
