[Q] add account to gmail app - Kindle Fire HDX 7" & 8.9" Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

I've rooted my device and installed Google apps via the documentation found in other threads here at xda.
However, I'm unable to find the option to add additional accounts to the gmail app.
Per this link: http://www.intomobile.com/2013/10/03/obvious-howto-add-new-account-updated-gmail-46-app-android/
I need to add additional accounts via the accounts and sync menu. However, this menu does not show on my kindle hdx. Is there an alternate method to add accounts? How do I do this on my kindle?

google settings
find 'google settings' in your apps:
google settings -> google + -> add account -> add account
is this what you want?

Perfect. Thank you!
Note that you don't need to have Google+ enabled on the account to use this.
We just need to use it as a kick off point for getting to the add Google account screen.
One there it will ask you if you want to sign up for Google+ and you can simply cancel the process. The account is already added by that point.

Delete agenda from google account

Hi,
Recently a friend of mine bought a new android phone and I wanted to quick install some apps on his phone. I signed in to google account with my own account and the surprise was to see that my all phone number from agenda were sycnronized in his phone, but I never choose that google to backup or save my agenda phone numbers.
Where can I see what other informations google saved from my phone, and how can I delete my agenda phone numbers from my google account ?
Thanks.
You should disable the auto-synchronization with google into "account settings" on the phone and of course never manually sync it! Then if you delete all the names from the google account (in your pc) the changes will not pass to your phone.
I manage to disable auto syncronization. By default I've instaled a MIUI custom rom and was set on auto.
But how I access my name on pc google account, where to login and where I find them to delete ?
Thanks

Issue with Gmail account adding

Perhaps this has already been addressed, but I haven't found the thread for it. I prefer using the Gmail app over the garbage Messaging aggregator. But somehow, Motorola has overwritten the Add account function in the Gmail app, which now launches the Add Account form for the Messaging app. When adding an account in the fashion, the account never gets added to the Gmail app, but instead, the Messaging app. Has anyone had this issue, and if so, have you found a way around this?
When you are in the screen where you add the new account to add instead of clicking on the EMAIL icon click on the black G (google) and add the account from there.... then when you are in the screen where to chose what to sync select email...
I know it sucks... I m reading everything I need to know to root the phone advantages and disadvantages to understand whether it's worth it to get rid of all this f***ink bloatware that Motorola and Verizon loaded into this amazing phone...
Both of you are trying to add a google account in the wrong place. settings/ accounts/google Done!
same thing... settings -> account is what I cryptically described as "the screen where you add the new account"... you can reach it in 200 ways...
the bummer is that it's all mixed up in there...

we must be talking about 2 different things then. settings/ accounts/ add account/ google.. there is only one button for it, very simple.
if you go settings/ accounts/ add account/ email accounts/ google, this is the "blur confusion" and IMHO you should only use it for NON google accounts.

Once you have set up your Google account(s), click on the account name(s) on the Google accounts screen in "Settings." This will bring up a window that gives you the option to Sync (or not) all aspects of your Google account (app data, browser, calender, contacts, drive, gmail, play books, play movies, play music, play newsstand, google+ and people details). If you want to sync, click the check box. Once you have that info clicked (or unclicked) you can run Sync by clicking on the 3 vertical dots in the bottom right hand corner in the Sync settings screen or one level up at the Google accounts screen. Good luck.

I'm not sure why contacts sync is missing under Google accounts on your phone. Like all users outside of China, I'm not running KK. Contact sync shows up on my Gmail account page (the types of sync are listed alphabetically and contacts, as you'd expect, shows up right under calendar). Maybe someone else has some ideas.
Yours is not a US version? I think the China versions does not come with Gapps. Only the playstore that can be sideloaded. I am from the original ham section and I flashed a China rom and that's what happened. There's no calender or contacts sync adapter installed.

They just need to install playstore and the rest of the gapps can be downloaded from there. But minus the contact sync.

my friend,
i've 2xMate2 4G - MT2-L01 and MT2-L05.
I had the same issue on both phones... to fix it is quiet simple.
if you are on the last version (b408 kitkat 4.4.2), just need to manually install one APK called "GoogleContactSyncAdapter.apk". (attached file)
if you are using any other version, download the lastest gapps package for your version, unzip, find this apk inside unziped folder/system/app, and direct run this APK.
after that, you will have the CONTACTS SYNC option enabled again.
Thanks a lot, I tried with your app and didnt work, but I tried to search on google "Googlecontactsyncadaptet.apk" and worked perfect!
Really gratefull, it was a serius isseu of this phone
My friend owns a Huawei P8 (China) which identifies itself as shown in the attached screenshot.
To enable Google contacts and calendar synchronization I downloaded the CM12. 0 GApps package for Android 5.0 and extracted the 2 sync adapter APKs.
The installation of the calendar sync adapter worked smoothly and now the Google account also offers syncing of the calendar.
However the contacts sync adapter from the very same GApps package refuses installation on the phone. The installation starts and then terminates after some time with the message "application not installed". There is no further information why the installation fails.
Any ideas how to fix this?
Thanks
Stefan

This solved my problem on Cyanogenmod 13. Thank a lot.
This happened maybe because I flashed pico Gapps, which doesn't include this file.
I did following steps:
1) Extract GoogleContactSyncAdapter.apk from stock gapps.
2) Install GoogleContactSyncAdapter.apk on phone.
3) Goto Settings - Apps - Google contacts sync
4) Give it contacts permission.
5) Go to Accounts -> Google account and delete the account.
6) Go to contacts app
7) Add a contact it will ask you where to save, select Google account and login your Google account.
All your contacts will appear now.
yes this is how it works on a HUAWEI P8 MAX MARSHMALLOW for the no option for contact

[Q] Lollipop: Exchange account issues and: how to remove account from GMail?

I've successfully installed the OTA lollipop rom on my Nexus 5. Now, I face issues accessing our company exchange account from the GMail app.
After my upgrade from KitKat 4.4.4, I have added the company exchange account to the GMail settings, which seemed to work ok - at least my phone was able to store the server settings w/o any issues after checking them when I pressed the finish button in the settings dialogue. However, the information dialogue about exchange being able to change settings remotely on my phone (or similar) did not pop up as it used in KitKat. In addition, I am not able to remove the Exchange account, which I wanted to do in order to restart from scratch.
Does anybody face similar issues? And: How can i remove my exchange account, which does not appear under settings - accounts btw.?
Thx in advance, G.

Probably just need to remove your Google Account and re-add it to clear it from Gmail. This won't reset your data or anything. As far as getting Exchange to work in general, I'm not sure. Have never had reason to mess with it.

Thanks a lot! Unfortunately removing the Google account did not resolve the issue - removing it did not remove the exchange account. It was still visible in the GMail app - and it was still not visible under Settings - Accounts.

Uninstall and reinstall Gmail then. If that doesn't work, might need to log in on the web and try and remove it from the Settings there.

Thanks, I tried to remove GMail and in order to do so rootet my Nexus 5 which led to a new Lollipop installation (which I was not aware of but which was ok). Then, I had to re-add my Google account as well as my Exchange account. I did this using the menu settings > accounts (before, I added the account from GMail directly). And guess what - after confirming the access question which hadn't popped up in my earlier setup everything works as expected .
Thanks a lot for all your help!

Glad all is well. Enjoy your Lollipop. lol
I was able to remove an my Exchange account from Gmail thusly:
Settings > Apps > Gmail
> Click Force Stop
> This gave me a prompt saying that I couldn’t stop Gmail because it was a Device Administrator
> Clicking ‘Remove' took me to Settings > Security > Device Administrators.
> Unchecking ‘Gmail’ both stopped the app AND removed exchange.
> You should then be able to add back the amount via the usual means.
This appears to be a security ‘feature’ intended. It would be nice if they added a little symmetry UI in the account manager and provided a fake removal menu with a how-to or a link to a help article.

Is there anyway to remove work profile on android?
Google it. I suspect it's in Google account settings or simple delete the associated Google account. Or maybe just clear the the data in that app. I never use it...

Yes. First step in that guide, I dont have it. THere is no "accounts" or "us ers and accounts" in settings. There is an "Samsung acount" but all you can do there is login with the google account connected to the phone. No remove options.
So it's a work account using Samsung Knox... that matters.
