OK, I've flashed the last dirty unicorn ROM and I like it, but half the time after a phone call, the phone will freeze for about 5 seconds and than reboot.. I've read a little on the ROM but am not sure if anyone elseknows what I'm talking about and can chime me in. Thanks
Different ROM now and zero problems ..

Back on du 4.4.2.. So far only reboots after install zip file's.. Hmm
the rom you mentioned, du 4.4, is known for not being stable. dont bother. unjust's cm11 is the best kitkat rom for this phone.
Thanks skepticmisfit . I have been slow on my fascinates lately flashing them around and I don't always get a chance to read all the posts and replies so it helps hearing it from you, I have 3 different fascinates on 3 different roms, last rom I flashed from was 4.2.2 avatar on my personal phone and I really liked it stability wise with my data and no unexpected FC's or random reboots.
Getting around to flash over and of course, I get the random reboot as soon as I am downloading the unjust cm11 lol now that I've read on it, it's the rom for me too. Thanks again for the heads up

Ive searched and searched for the answer all over this forum but apparently I cant find it. I rooted my phone and installed the Paranoid Jellybean ROM on my SGH-i717 and it works great however it will randomly reboot itself. Anyone have any thoughts or Ideas? Or if there is already a post lead me in the right direction? Thanks in advance.
Many JB roms, to certain extent, have this issue.
Go try a ICS ROM.

I have to agree with this
But its not necessarily the rom, or user error,I just don't believe all notes are made 100% the same
You don't hear about random reboots on ICS much at all though...
I feel you.
OMG the reboots and shuts downs are starting to be annoying. :crying:
Mine seem to come in spurts. The other day it happened 5 tikes within 3 hours. Every reboot happens while I was on the phone so I had to reflash to hey audio back. Before that it had been forever since a reboot

ive tried a few JellyBean roms and i always have that issue. the roms are great but that is an annoyance. i switched to Padawan Rom and never had a reboot. Just seems there isnt a truly stable JellyBean rom for our notes just yet....
Its due to unstable kernels. The kernels are just modified ICS kernel so u will have issues until or if job becomes official for us

Same here, i tried all (well at least the ones posted on XDA) roms and all of them gave me a random reboot at one point. I dont have this problem on ICS roms though.
However i just tried gubment cheeze 2 days ago, GREAT rom so far, not 1 reboot(i couldnt make it one day without a reboot on other roms)
its still early so i'll report back in a few days about reboots
but of course not all roms will work the same with your phone, u have to install and find out by trial and error. but other than this new rom im trying, i say all of the JB ones with give you a reboot of some sort
Been on padawn ics for weeks, not ONE random reboot
Anybody been trying jb roms again?have they figured out how to stop the rebooting?
I'm on CM right now ...
Latest build ....and no problems to speak of here...
They continue to do a great job.
I don't use any other JB builds beyond a quick look, so I can't speak for those ....g
I have tried all JB roms for the AT&T Samsung Note 1. Now I am currently running Collective. I have over the past 5 months read through all their Forums and troubleshooting and have followed all instructions to the T. I wont be bashed or called a noob because all phones are not alike and some users don't have certain issues from what I read. BUT others have most definitely had my issues lol. I get random reboots, also seems like phone does not update properly like updates for apps through play store. I reboot my phone and all of a sudden i get new emails and there's 5 updates where my phone while on told me nothing about them. The reboots are the bigger issue. Is there no Stable JB rom out there? I keep being told go back to ICS, which I am believing that after JB being out for so long nobody is able to make the roms stable. Never seen such a long period of no stable rom coming out for a phone. Appreciate any advice ty
Hmm, there is two that I know of now. Cyanogen mod 10, and paranoid android which has cm10 as a base

My first experience with CM10 was that it was not stable, especially coming from CM9 which was rock solid but the last week or so of builds have performed very well for me. Within the last week my phone has rebooted 2x's on me. Both were just as I hung up a call the screen froze then the phone rebooted. Otherwise, I have not had any issues. My previous ROM was JellyBeer which as not quite as stable but still pretty good. I did clean wipes, loaded CM10 (latest) then JB GAPPS 20121011. After rebooting the phone I run "fix permissions" from CWM. I go to the play store and download my apps from there and not from a back up. Hope this helps, good luck.

You must be ON CRACK? The PAC MAN rom is the most stable rom i have ever ran.... and i've tried them all. NO random reboots and no issues. give it a shot man
Isn't the cm10 Jellybean kernel for the note just a modified ICS Kernel with bits and pieces from other kernels put in one package in order to run Jellybean. There's the stability issue. There's no source for the GN Jb kernel yet so they'll be issues. In my experience reboots and lost data connection. That's why I went back to ICS. Everything works. But I would like to check out Paranoid Android 3.0 ,4.2 aospa builds coming out soon. Don't know if there using a cm kernel or in-house built.
Novena injected I717 Samsung Galaxy Note
Nov 8 PA and linero (pacman) kernel and only get a reboot one every 5-7 days . Were on all others was like 3-4 a day . Also I have found (I could be crazy) but when a reboot yellow screen of death occurs power off the phone then restart seems to stop the reboots for much longer ,not that I need to do it anymore.

DING DING DING!!!
No source, mo' problems!
We need source to drop for JB, especially the kernel source...
Until then, we can get "good" builds, but not "Great" builds...
Source is the key, and according to Samsung, the note will get the official upgrade in december...I dont know more than that.....g
so was there ever a great 4.04 aosp or aokp rom for the i717??
by great i mean everything working.. hdmi, usb otg, etc...
on the s2 it seemed that as soon as the source dropped everyone went to jellybean..
so there never was a near flawless build.. and there never were sources for the hdmi and some other drivers..
i dont see it being different on any samsung product..
See this is why I made this thread. Simply put I spend countless hours searching threads and topics and I jsut got 90% of my answers there. I have used cm Roms in the past and I liked them. I am not a expert at rooting but one gets there over time. I really do not think any question is a stupid one but where it posted can be wrong place to post. I do very much appreciate everything everyone has posted. If you have any other imput or great ideas please post. Again ty very much:good:
THE most important thing to remember is that no 2 phones will act the same on every ROM, so, anytime someone says a certain rom is great, or another one sucks, you can only take that with a grain of sand....the ONLY way to know how any rom will run for you is to install it on YOUR phone.
As others have said, until there is source from Samsung, NO JB rom will run perfectly 100% of the time for everyone, so, if you don't want to deal with the possibility of reboots or other weird issues, you are probably best sticking with an ICS rom...
Actually, I have found the JB's to be more stable than the ICS Roms. I have found AOKP Milestone 1 the most stable. No reboots and offers tabletUI if you want it.
Right now, I am running Dman's PACman and find it to be very smooth and stable.

I have been using AOKP Milestone 1 and haven't had many issues. There are a few bugs but nothing show stopping. I run mine at 240DPI and it looks beautiful and have only had 1 reboot. I would give it a try.
On crack lol appropriate but ok. I tried pacman at one point I loved all roms but no phones are equal ever jb rom at some point gave me reboots. Sporting padawan at the moment loving it

Please mods, don't delete. This is not meant to be any sort of competition thread. I'm simply inquiring if users that have had random reboot problems with jb Roms ever found one that doesn't suffer from this problem.
I have tried King Kang, PACman, and the official CM10 nightlies, and all have typically had about 1 a day. I always do clean installs for these Roms and restore apps with titanium backup without data.
I have been using CM10 Stable for roughly 3 days, and I have not witnessed any reboots. ROM is great. I am still playing with it, but all is good!

No, not I...and
I have tried various JB ROMs and all have the reboot problem, some worse than others. I also have tried in combination with KKO.12's and Flapjack's kernels. I have come back to the CM10 Nightlies and using the KKO.12 kernel. I have the random reboot problem and it is redictable if I attempt to get thgrough the lockscreen just after rebooting and just getting to the Trebuchet home screen. I need to give it time to go through the full startup. The other reboot occurance is when I try to access more than app at a time while the first app is thinking or processing. When these reboots occur I often get a reboot with the CM10 circle long spinning out of focus and very pixelated before it finally gets to Trebuchet Launcher (have tried other launchers also). I occasionally come up with no APNs (as in blank), however, a further reboot usually fixes that. I did a completre wipe several months ago but still have the issues. I fear that unique interaction with my loaded apps and folders in SD card also are at the source of my issues. Frankly, I am checking daily and counting down the days until i717 CM10.1/JB4.2 comes out in the hopes that it makes my Note a bit more stable. After I try that if I still have the problems, I will go through another painful wipe data resetting and app reloading to see if it cleans it up more or even totally.
Yes, 12/28 cm10. No reboots at all in 60 hrs. Running it with FJ's kernel and tuned with System Tuner.

Certain things (I suspect the graphics drivers) make CM10 and its derivative ROMs more likely to reboot.
I'm on the cm10 1/03 nightly and I got a couple of spontaneous reboots. Clean install from a full wipe of course.
I'd guess that it'll likely be when official JB becomes available that they'll be able to fix some issues.

I was on 12/28 for a few days had reboots the same as any other ROM for i717. Something we all just gotta deal with. I had really good luck with slim ROM or whatever it is called for days. Then it started doing the same as the rest, ended up settling back where I started with paranoid android with one or two reboots a day *not complaining*

A really easy way to force a reboot for me it seems it to start recording video. After a some minutes, it reboots.

The Nightlies were having issues back around Christmas with flickering & reboots. I heard the kinks have all been worked out now. I'll know more about them Tues.
TONIGHT IS THE FIRST TIME IVE ENCOUNTERED THESE PROBLEMS...
I wanted to make emphasis on that first sentence but here's the problem...I've used Beanstalk and official liquid smooth 4.3.1 ROMs and every time I try to open gallery/quickpic the system freezes than reboots..I've stated this in liquid smooth so I'm sure its not a ROM problem. I also religiously clean wipe every time I flash anything so much so I never really have the opportunity to set up everything how I want it...Is this any indication of a battery that's dying ? I just got a ravpower battery about a month ago and I haven't seen any abnormal things happening with how fast the battery drains...I'm only asking here because I didn't want to troll patch_adam's other ROM thread as well..Has anyone experienced this kind of problem ?

I have exactly the same problem. When run quick pics after a while the freezes and reboots system. CM10.2.
I've had the same issue for awhile but have simply neglected to try a fix because I'm still able to flash ROMs from the SD and pictures are just saved to the device. However, I read in one of the 4.4.x forums someone had to format their SD and that solved the issue. It does seem like a pain but it's worth a shot, assuming you have a stable ROM running and can format without the worry of having to sideload something in the event there is a mishap.
for me it happens on a freshly installed ROM. Formatting the card doesn't help. The CM10.1 doesn't have this problem.
Hi guys I have'nt found much information on this forum regarding the intermittent lag/crashes on G2s that I'm experiencing (d802 version specifically) running kitkat aosp ROMs so I thought I might report my experience to see if I'm not alone here.
After I upgraded from CM 10.2 to CM11 my device would start lagging at random times during the day followed itevitably by a crash mostly after about 3 minutes of use (messaging, browsing, youtubing etc) where the screen would freeze and go black (and eventually come back.)
A reboot was always necessary which resolved the problem temporarily. These crashes happened between 1-3 times per day and were extremely frustrating.
The device in question is a d802 running CM11 and stock kernel.
They happened after fresh installs, even with only system apps. I tried flashing a custom kernel, playing with different settings and switching to other kitkat ROMs with little to no change.
I finally bit the bullet and switched back to CM10.2 stable and all is well with my phone now. I couldn't make the phone lag if I tried, its back to its beasty glory.
This device clearly must have an issue with Aosp ROMs on kitkat (or maybe I just picked a bad one) and its a real shame. If anyone has the same problem please share your experiences and maybe we can get to the bottom of this thing

yep stock is better than cm11 or any aosp roms. aeonflex was a really good rom so was cloudy flex. they are flex based
CM11 has always been buggy for me. Try running a different 4.4 ROM,
Nameless is running perfectly for me

Pretty surprising that all the big players like cm or aokp would be the buggiest. At least there's other options for an upgrade

I'm using omni. Without any issues at all. No freezes or anything like that.
Tried PA and CM11, both really buggy, just like the op described. Flashed cm10.2 but it just doesnt work with my fitbit so now ive gone back to stock. While stock is good, it just feels so sow compared to asop based roms.
If you want a AOSP rom really hard, try "Mahdi" rom.. i tried it for a day and it fits perfectly for me
But now i'm on stock rom (CloudyStock) because... it's awesome and i like the LG UI
Using Mahdi combined with the furnace kernel, no slowdowns and very rarely do I get random reboots. Highly suggested :good:
I have these freezes several times a day too. I noticed one time that my systemui stopped working with it
my guess: maybe it has something to do with the systemui?
CM11 ran great for me on my D801, but I just couldn't deal with the in call echo issue.

blame closed source drivers. the devs making these customs pull hattricks so you can have a custom rom. All without documentation and such, thats why they can be buggy.

Or
Is it worth it to upgrade just because of this speed factor?
