As Vagelis1608 gave you the link, it is for CM11 (KitKat Rom). If you have never made a rom before, you can't make a kitkat ROM. You may mod already existing jb roms to look like kk. But to get original KitKat, you will need to compile the whole stuff from the source code and this is what a developer can do.

Yeah...he has done a ROM but not fully succeeded yet. But, he did succeed in making a perfectly working Recovery. And...he learnt these all from xda-university or from other sources. If you want a KitKat ROM, why not try out CM11 by psyke83.
Nah.. This summer i will try to male it

As a new user I had to remove your link to the madteam thread index.php?topic=5883.0
Hi,
Just wanted to say that 5 days ago I knew zilch , nada, nothing, zero about Android phones or their workings but thanks to this site and its many contributors I now not only have at the very least a superficial awareness of the numerous elements involved in making an Android phone function but also have finally rooted (a donation to shortfuse.org is on its way) my Samsung Europa (GT-I5500) which currently is using Build FROYO.XWJQ3.
All I want to do now is upgrade to CM11 and 5 hours or more since rooting all I have done is gone round in circles because of links that are dead. I understand that I am looking for info on a device that is long past it's sell by but should not XDA have archived all the relevant files etc ?
Perhaps the fault is mainly mine being a complete noobie but I have spent so many hours trying to get up to speed that right now I am so exhausted mentally I am switching off and will return another day to continue researching.
Not sure why I decided to post to you other than that I came across your name many times while searching the forum. If you have the time and patience to point me in the right direction regarding upgrades it would be most appreciated.
Thanks

Possible it is, however, it is necessary to remove components and applications that consume many resources, because the device has usable 181MB and a CPU can only run up to 768MH.

Yes, I tested one with name cm-11.0.0-GT-I5500-galaxy5.zip
(source: vinloren.blogspot.com/2016/09/android-kitkat-su-samsung-corby-gt-i5500.html )
The system works properly but it has some laggy, the CPU stays at maximum even without recent applications. I cant open whatsapp.

But I am worried to see this. If it is developed by you and STILL NOT TESTED BY YOU COZ YOU DONT HAVE TIME TO TEST, then why should others try it?
Are you using others are Guinea Pigs? Please release any builds only if you are using and testing it.
Sorry it does not convince me when you say "we dont have time to test it" I am really surprised.
Its not about bricking the phone, but it seems like, you are not confident enough for testing it.:silly:

@psychoace, I did not wanted to say it, but yes, you said. There is a rule for everything here. But it seems markolino631 and Artas, who is helping him . both have P760, then why you say this that "they dont have phone"?
It is also unacceptable when Artas say that "could not test it because dont have time". Why hurry and put everyone's phone on risk with BLIND TESTING on others?
What I am trying to say is, please do test your changes and then release the result and rom, instead asking others to send logcats for every experimental changes you do. Sorry if I am asking too much.
Title says all. Comment with something under here if you have a GP 4.2. I'm making a ROM for it but, due to my network speed (slooooow), I want to know how many users will download it. Thanks in advance!

I only have some questions:
1) Is it true that I need to have a 64 bit CPU? If yes, I have not, but in a VM is it possible to have it?...
2) What Linux OS is the best to get a fast compilation time? (My VM: 2Core, 1.5GB Ram, HDD USB 2.0 to host it (only used for the VM), 128GB of virtual HDD)
3) With Mint 15 64bit VirtualBox crashes on boot, is this a problem of the "64bit" version or is a problem of the small quantity of RAM?
I have it! It will be really, really, really great to have a new ROM, since we've got a few numbers of developers for this device. A CM7 or CM9 ROM, like u said u're going to try to do, would be really great for future developers and a future Jelly Bean ROM. ( Nowadays, I'm using ChaOS ROM v1 + S3 Modpack made by @ChaosChris )

1)I believe you can build CM7 with a 32 bit OS (that requires only a 32bit processor) but for CM9 onwards you need a 64 bit version of Linux (which requires a 64 bit processor)
2)You can use Ubuntu 10.04 (as recommended on the official Android developers website) for maximum compatibility and less compilation errors.
3)Yup, you cant use 64 bit OS'es on 32 bit processors, neither with VMs nor by actually installing it on another partition.

1) So for 3 or 4 years (I haven't enough money for a new pc and my parents will never buy another one only because "the cpu can work with the double number of bit in the same time" (Yes, my father were born with the "linux inside" signature, but with a 16/32bit brain))
2) Ok, I'll try
3) Damn!
4) With this post I can now post in the dev section! So when I'll fixed all bugs with current rom I will open a thread for it! Thanks!

Great idea! Building a ROM in this way would be really useful to have more knowledge about what you're doing. This will help you to, if there is an error, find out exactly where it is, so you can fix it. Good thinking. Good look, maybe we finally got a sucessful CM7.

Yes. But not now. I'll make themes after I have modded all the Rom because if I mod a part of the rom i need to mod all themes so when i end the modding-time i will start with all done and the theming process will be more faster.

Hi everybody in the Nexus 6p forum!
Today I want to present you my (actually Work-in-progress) port of MIUI v7
It's based on the stock build MTC19T and the MIUI itself it was ported using this guide (which I don't know if it's right, i used 2nd e 3rd post method) from the Mi Note (not pro) cause has similar specs of our beloved device.
The rom doesn't work at the moment, and I'm still working on to make it bootable and usable. I'm asking for a little bit of help doing this, since it's my first public rom, and my first port!
ADB shows up in device manager on windows, but no device is there when I type "adb devices". So I need to start fixing that first. Also, the rom bootloops forever, ATM.
I invite any developer or non-developer to try it and help me get this adb working, so I can debug it.
You can reach me here on XDA or on hangouts at cappy95 (at) gmail.com

4) Type "fastboot flash boot" without quotes and drag onto the terminal the boot.img file
5) Reboot to recovery
6) Do a factory reset
7) Go to Mount and mount Data and System partitions
8) Flash or sideload the additional file
9) Wait forever at the bootanimation, it doesn't get past it.

It would probably be a faulty ADB setup or something similar.
Should've really went with the first method. Its a bit more difficult at first but you will end up with a more finished product. The method that you're taking will involve you having to hack together fixes.

Patchrom is only for 4.4.4 Kitkat. There's no kitkat for our device, nor will never be. That's why I had to use the third method, is the ONLY way to get MIUI on marshmallow.
I also prefer compiling over hacking things together, because you mess up things, but there's no source of MIUI whatsoever, especially for 6.x...
Wouldnt it be easier to try porting from nexus 5 rom? http://en.miui.com/extra.php?mod=rom/download&r=232&mobile=no
Or no difference whatsoever since it has different cpu?

It does use 4.4.4 KitKat.
Don't look at the version, because MIUI has 3 indipendent versioning systems, as far as I understand it.
1) The android version (which can be anything from 4.4.4 to 6.x)
2) The UI version (v6,v7,v8)
3) The rom version (6.5.12 atm writing)
All of those are indipendent, so I can have a MIUI v7 (latest) rom version 6.5.12 on android 4.4.4, 5.x or 6.x.
So yeah, it does have a different CPU and ALSO, a different android version.
So, by the first rule of porting, you CAN'T port roms with different sdk versions.
There are unfortunately no shortcuts... I searched the whole intenets to a better and different way of doing this... No luck. It could become easier once they release MIUI on 6.x on Mi Note pro, but for now, the closest device we can use to port is Mi note (Snap 801 - 32 bit processor).
Also, I tried to port also from Mi 5 (which should help, since is 820, 64 bit) but surprisingly, that didn't even made past the boot.
So yeah, I'm running out of ideas, I tried nearly EVERYTHING, last thing I can do is debug by kmesg, but it will take months to just get past that bootanimation. But I guess is the only way out...
Thanks for clarification, and sucks to hear that! Yeah appears there are no sd 808 or 810devices running miui 7 based on marshmallow, this is best shot and its a long one
Maybe this can help, mi note pro is snap 810

Dude, there IS a tutorial on how to flash treble GSIs! You're just not willing to use a simple thing like GOOGLE!
https://www.xda-developers.com/flash-generic-system-image-project-treble-device/
Now, from what I read here is that a perquisite is that you don't have a patched boot/ramdisk aka a rooted phone.
If you have a rooted phone, you're going to have to install a fresh, unmodified kernel (boot.img) and then try it
I'll give it a try and try to post back results. I'm not familiar with how project treble works, but I doubt it's as easy as it sounds
@ShaDisNX255 plz share the result. I too have a Galaxy J6 and wanted to have an AOSP based rom in it. If u succeed, plz post it here. Not a big fan of Touchwiz.
hmm i failed myself, tried system-180818-arm-aonly-gapps.img without succes.
1. i've installed TWRP https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-j/development/recovery-twrp-3-2-2-0-galaxy-j6-on6-t3819751
2. install Resurrection Remix ARM A Only Devices (system-180818-arm-aonly-gapps.img)
3. on system image
4. reboot
result endless reboot
Samsung probably went out of their way to make it harder.
Too busy to experiment myself but from my first tests I didn't get it to work.
Oh well, so much for "Project treble making it easier"
lol

It's fairly easy to debloat using something like Super R's kitchen.
Why would you buy a J6 if you hate Touchwiz?
There are waaaaay better options that have closer to stock Android experiences than a Samsung phone

Lol that's the issue. Got the phone from my parents. Never would've bought this myself. I like AOSP based roms. Yeah i know its easy to debloat but i just count it as a con of toucwiz(weird as it may be). So here i'm scratching my head and looking all round the internet to find a possible way to turn this to my liking. 4pda also gave negative results, so replying to some recently created threads seemed like my last resort. Btw have u found a working GCAM port for this phone. Tried 6-7 ports but none of them even got installed.

Nope, I'm not much of a picture taker.
Lol a lot of people get phones from their parents, just be glad you're not stuck with a phone with a ****ty processor like Mediatek.
And well, I'm not an experienced person, so I wouldn't even be able to port something like Lineage or the like, sorry

I think the problem is with TWRP cause i read in some other threads that u need some vendor partition enabled( or sthng like this) TWRP to flash Pie GSIs. Not sure if im right or wrong. But this is the first thing that comes to mind.

that was also something i thought of, because in some procedures they speak of a trebel recovery mode
TWRP on the J6 DOES support the vendor partition, so I don't understand what you're trying to say

Ok. I didn't know that. Thnx for the info. Then what is going wrong with the treble GSIs??
Hi there,
i have a ZTE Blade A5 2019 as a replacement for some weeks for my Galaxy S7. It seems like it runs Android Go instead of standard Android. Unfortunately some apps arent supported, like Wear OS App, which i need.
Is there any way to upgrade to a standard Android? Like flashing another android or installing some google apps (like google services, google launcher) to make it compatible with that app?
Thanks!
Did you try to manually install Wear APK?
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/android-wear-smartwatch-android-wear/
Otherwise on a Reddit thread someone claimed he was able to install form play store after changing build.prop file. But no change details and you would need root, of course
About your main question: it would be possible as long as someone provided a custom ROM for the device

i tried it and the app freezes on the start screen (wear os logo) and nothing happens.
I also tried to update google play services to a newer version, because maybe there are some framework functions missing for the app to work. But first the service crashed every 5-10 sec, then the play store showed me an update for the services, after that the app actually started but couldnt connect to the watch, i restarted the device and now the app freezes again. I dont know whats wrong at all, the app itself faulty or still some android dependencies missing. Does anybody has a clue?
would you share that reddit link with me?
Edit:
Current Versions:
Google Play Services: 20.12.16 (110306-306753009)
Google Services Framework: 9-5272573 (updated: 31. December 2008)
maybe the services are too old?
AI don't know, I think it would be hard..
Anyway the link: https://www.reddit.com/r/WearOS/comments/a32abv/wearos_android_go_compatibility/
EDIT I read it again the guy said to turn off the lowmem option, but you still need root..

Yea don't use some random APK or pc file to root, there are fake sites claiming to root your device based on what you search on Google. Ask on XDA about the device and CPU, if it's not here it's hard that someone ever rooted it.
Or if you want to experiment consider you can brick the device
Good luck [emoji123]

I think you can flash any stock Android of your choice as long as its minimum system requirements are met: stock Android generally requires a faster CPU, more RAM, etc.pp than Android GO.
Check out your respective devices' Android Development section on XDA, you might be able to find a non-android go ROM there. Goodluck!

What? How come? You can't flash a rom built for a specific device with a certain CPU on other device. It would 100% brick your device!
He could root more easily if the CPU is a common one (mediatek or Snapdragon) however

Garbage ...
I spoke of stock Android - or pure Android as I like to call it - what - I'm pretty sure - in no case depends on what manufacturer produced the CPU: it depends on CPU-architecture only, IMHO.
For example Lineage OS offers you a pure, stock Android experience for your device. Others also exist.
AFAIK you at any time also can replace on a mobile its Android ( downgrade/upgrade ) , as long as it's suitable.

maybe I didn't understand your words, but just to be clear: you can't flash any random ROM on your device.
CPU is only a factor. Another one are partitions. Also before anything you need to root and you need a custom recovery. And each device needs it's own.
So, yes, depends on cpu, not cpu manufactures. They could make the job easy by releasing drivers, but they still often don't do.
Don't believe me? Flash some random lineage os that is not for your device and then tell us what happens..

The Build prop method really worked for me like a charm. I was unable to use notification, third party access in my Samsung J2core(j260g). But i rooted my phone using magisk and odin by creating a boot.tar file. it took hardly 5 minutes to follow all process. After rooting, just download the build.prop editor from play store and search for lowram config. edit the entry to true . reboot and you will see a full fledged android instead of go.
