Disclaimer: Chameleon OS is currently in beta. While it runs very well,
there may be things that are not completely functional. The development team is
not responsible for any damage to your device or your information.
Chameleon OS (or ChaOS for short) is a custom Android ROM that gives the user more control than they can experience on any other Android ROM. Starting with a CyanogenMOD base, we customize each piece to give ultimate control while maintaining the simplicity we all love about Android. The most notable feature of ChaOS is the theme engine, which can apply different pieces of themes in a true mix-and-match style. The launcher has been completely overhauled with tons of options that you'd normally need to download a third-party launcher for, such as home screen previews, folder sorting, and folder icon styles. The Messaging app has also had some UI retouches, including messaging bubbles and quick emoji button.
The entire framework of ChaOS has been modified around the theme engine, allowing for custom fonts, boot animations (with animated preview), and themes. No longer do you have to try to find the perfect theme, with Chameleon OS you can patch it together with your favorite pieces from different themes. Messaging, Phone, Status Bar, icons, everything can be set completely individually from each other which provides the capabilities to completely re-imagine your phone. Creating themes for the ChaOS Theme Engine is superbly simple and has extreme versatility.
Even with all of the features we've currently implemented, ChaOS will continue to mature with even more refined settings and features. We will be completely open source and will welcome developers to join us, whether it be by maintaining a device or utilizing our gerrit review. Even if you're not a developer, your voice will not go unheard. We will continually poll our users for the most wanted features and do our best to implement them.

Either it was a bad download or you didnt wait long enough. I'm using Phil's recovery and it took a few minutes but flashed fine. Try a new download and flash again. If not download the PHils recovery zip, flash through TWRP and then reflash. Phil's will resore TWRP backups so all of your backups will be fine and you can flash it straight through your recovery, no fastboot needed.
I'll try bcuz I'm curious.thx

The status bar clock problem is in the stock theme so there isnt much I can do about that right now, but for a temporary fix go into theme manager and download another theme and apply. Ive tried multipple from the Chameleon forums link and they are all nice. Will have a look at torch tomorrow and see if I can't push an update either tomorrow or the next day to fix that. Also I will try to get a better site to upload to fo you guys to download from.
It took much longer than normal for TWRP to install ROM but Gapps and anything loaded normal.

I haven't tested any but the stock one, but since it had a CM base I would assume a custom kernel would have to be CM based

Guess someone should set this straight.....This keyboard is actually a separate keyboard from the actual 4.2 keyboard. Even on the Nexus 4 running 4.2, in the languages and input options, you would actually see an IWnn IME keyboard and under it would say Emoji input. So don't confuse it with the actual 4.2 keyboard. This is the reason why there is no gesture support because it is not the actual 4.2.
If you are looking for a zip that will work, this seems to be doing the trick. I have used it since this zip was giving me issues and this one flashed fine. Was a zip i got from klobkelosh http://d-h.st/dHv. Flashes with no problem.
Also another tip, if you use a the 4.2 keyboard, an easy way to switch from that keyboard to the emoji keyboard, go into the settings of the 4.2 settings, go to advanced settings, make sure you have the language switch key set and switch to other input methods checked. this will place a little globe next to your space bar. tapping that will easily switch between your 4.2 keyboard and emoji keyboard. Have fun

Another test.
Edit: ok, if I clutter my emoji, some will be hidden, if I hit space after each one, I can see them. Quoting my other post I can see them even when crammed.
So I guess try spacing them out (just one spacebar press) if you're the type to have 5 emojis in succession.
Other than that, I don't know.

Just don't understand why it is this hard to be able send, receive and view emojis. I use a program called Shady SMS for some of my "extracurricular activities" and I can send, receive and view emojis in full size and color just like I was using a iPhone. Why is it so hard to implement it into the stock messenger?
you guys
My emojis work and my friends I phones get them. They even get the ones they don't have.
The reason they aren't working for you is because you MUST DISABLE YOUR GOOGLE VOICE from your #

CM and AOKP encompass far more than Samsung... and from that perspective it's wise to keep things somewhat compatible where they won't break other things. Beyond that... TW framework source is still proprietary and so there's no way to build that on your own at the moment.
Bottom line - if you want the Google Experience and still play with TW apps you're better to stick with a GE-themed TW ROM.
Thanks for all the hard work! Good to see so many official Roms from you

This is my favorite AOSP rom for this phone so far. Everything seems to work and it just flies in a way that CM doesn't. 3g data is as good as with TW. All I need now is for Google to release a better camera app, but we'll probably have to wait at least until KLP for that to happen.

First glitch... After doing a backup in TWRP 2.6.3.0 , I do a reboot and the phone never comes back up. I get a very brief Samsung on the screen (not the glowing one), then it goes black...
Nothing happens again. If I pull the battery, the same thing happens again.
If I hold down the power button and vol up/down, I can get into recovery and restore the copy I backed up, when then if I boot from TWRP, it boots normally.
Note : (don't know if this is important) - I am running the UVLG3 modem.
If I do a normal shutdown (not a restart into recovery), the same problem occurs. So, as long as I dont ever have to shut down , restart, or have Android crash on me, I'm good... If one of those does happen, I have to do a restore.
NOTE: Coming into this ROM, I had a 100% clean EMMC and installed from a freshly formatted MicroSD. Also - I've had the same issue happen on HellyBean as well.
Seems to be the norm for any JellyBean CyanogenMod ROM for me. Maybe its the modem I'm running? Who knows.
Only ROMs I am able to run with any stability are ICS-based and then not even all of them.

I think that is an issue with TWRP 2.6.3.0 from what I have read, I updated to it once and had same type of problems. So I reinstalled TWRP 2.6.1.0 and I haven't had any problems with that version.

Another 2 issues - not sure if it's this ROM or something related to CyanogenMod...
1) I usually have to press the power button multiple times to get the screen to come on... The keys light up each time, but the screen doesnt. THe screen does seem to respond to swiping in the unlock direction... Just nothing displays.
2) NOT using the speakerphone - with the volume all the way up, people say they can hear an echo... And call audio gets really distorted at times (regardless of the volume).

Have you attempted to use Jamie's latest 3.0.100 uber kernel ? That helps the problem for that pesky screen problem..also disable the lockscreen in settings>security... Also I might not be 100% sure about this but with other base bands(radios) or what they call around here-modems distortion was a result of using a different BB so you had to trail and error quite a few...if I'm not mistaken blownfuze has a tip on the first page of his aokp ROM thread that talks about what to do about the speakerphone but I'm not sure if its going to fix your problem..just giving ideas

I actually tried that kernel right after you posted this - same issue came up after.
I'll try the lockscreen security tip tomorrow morning.

The Experience Project 2013. Are you ready?
Join the G+ community!!!
Experience Community!
About:
- -O3 Optimized
- Based off of CM
- Themed apps with the idea of beauty and elegance in mind. (WIP)
- ThemeCenter
- CM Performance Control (duh)
- All non-system/Google apps you see (Experience Project, Help Center, Changelog, etc), have been built from scratch by MBQ. Unique, right?
- More, but I don't want to name everything this has. Too excessive.
Why?
Android is cool... right?
Yeah.
It seems like it is the same thing every time. You download a ROM, set it up, blah blah blah.
That gets boring. And boring is bad. It leads to trouble, and trouble is even worse.
We want this ROM to be YOUR ROM. Not some 'ROM' you use. Originality is cool.
MBQ personally created the following apps you will see:
-Experience Project
-HelpCenter
-GAppsCenter
-XPChangelog
and he is currently working on several more. This is MBQ's way of breaking out, and trying something original. Let's hope it'll turn out decent, right?

[15\12-2013] - Hi guys. I am very sorry for not building this week, I had to practice for some "mini" exams, and my machine has crashed on me a lot of times. After reinstalling Ubuntu 13.10, I am up and running again. Syncing the repo now
Sounds pretty legit, will have to check it out
**Update**
Running this ROM now! Everything seems to be running smooth.
I like the light theme in Settings, but one thing I noticed is some of the icons are white on white, as well as Superuser Settings. Here are some screen shots so you can see exactly what I'm talking about.

At Dropcanvas, we love you - but without these caps in place there would be no dropcanvas anymore.

I'd imagine people are gonna want new builds as often as possible. I voted twice a week ☺ but truth is, I'd vote that you build as new features/bug fixes become available and or are implemented ?

That is actually what I meant with "Critical bugfixes"...
My fault, I should have explained it more detailed. Thanks for testing BTW, you flashed it before me! And I built it... xD
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4
So, in further testing... Superuser is built in and seems fully functional. I use a USB OTG cable to connect a thumb drive with my tablet as that's where I store my TWRP backups and other files I have saved (ROM's, kernels, etc...). As this tablet doesn't seem to natively support USB OTG, I use StickMount Pro (which requires root) to gain access to my external thumb drive in most ROM's. Unfortunately tho, StickMount didn't seem to like the built in Superuser for whatever reason. As this would be a deal breaker for me, I tried flashing the SuperSU package linked in the OP and after a reboot, to my surprise, StickMount worked!
So, long story short, you may wanna go ahead and flash the SuperSU package linked in the OP, especially if any apps requiring root are giving you a hard time. For me so far, StickMount was the only app. Titanium Backup didn't have any issues or popup any messages like it usually does with built in Superuser.
Anyway, rant off. Just thought I'd post a random occurrence while using this ROM. Beyond that, everything is working great so far and now I'm off to try some different kernels ?

This is a deodexed ROM so I wouldn't expect "Art" to work at this time. Currently Art is only able to work on AOSP based odexed ROM's.
As far as kernels, I'm kinda striking out there too at the moment. I've tried some of faux's kernels but no go so far lol.
**Edit** So in reading thru Glitch's change logs, his next update will include the changes needed for his CM based CAF kernel to work with this ROM. I'm guessing the kernel you flashed was for 4.3 CM based Roms

Being this rom is based on CM, I would venture to guess that it is CodeAurora based which means AOSP kernels will not work.

Remember you also need latest recovery to flash 4.4 roms
Edit: so like with like every other ROM I get reception problems where I would get almost full bars (LTE) I barely get one at best, and jumps to hspa+ to LTE to hspa+ all the time, and some times it sticks on 1 bar of LTE. Any idea why this happens?

That would be a problem with RIL. As pretty much 100% of ROMs will pull RIL from the same tree this makes sense you get it on all ROMs... Nothing I can really do about it, sorry.

you are going to need 2.6.3.3 it works really good and haven't encountered any problems, or problems restoring older 4.3 back ups or flashing them like some people report.
edit: i lie, i have the one bug that when using aroma, sometimes after installing, instead of going back to recovery, the screen goes black. but other than that, perfect.

well not ALL rooms but the majority of them. is there anything i can do? there is even an app on the store to replace mismatched RIL's but the one is not supported, ofcourse ahah. So correct me if i wrong. I would need to get the appropriate ril from somewhere and push it/ replace it on the roms i flash?

The RIL included with all of the ROMs you flash is the best out there unless there is something I don't know of. Most RIL for this phone comes from this repo and folder:
https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_device_htc_msm8960-common/tree/cm-11.0/libril
AFAIK, not anything you can do about it.

https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_device_htc_msm8960-common/tree/cm-11.0/libril
AFAIK, not anything you can do about it.

man :crying: this blows, what i find weird is that most everyone do not report this problem. and a couple of roms, like 31.5 from mikes does not do this and gets normal signal. then, i've only found one 4.4 rom that gives me normal reception. i wanted vanilla android, but im just about giving up

Can you link me to the ROM that gives you normal reception? Might be able to see what they're doing and implement it here...
