hi i just broke my charger .. and customer care is so far to buy new original one .. i am using the custom kernel
i know the charger provides the 650ma of current to the phone to charge but the USB data cable through the pc provides only 450ma and relatively charges the phone slowly
well there is a way to change the current to 650ma ..
i just want to ask that it i change usb current to 650ma it will harm battery ?? or my phone ??
it is same as charging with charger and usb providing same current ???
i should charge through the USB @650ma or not ?? thats all what i want ..
If anyone know the answers please share .. thanks

Increasing the USB charge current (stock val 450ma) (via supportive kernel like Dorimanx etc) is always risky, both for ur phone as well as ur Computer USB port

Hi,
My phone charges extremely slow when connected with USB to my MBP.
I checked with the OS X tool "USB Prober" and it says 96mA, checking my old iPhone it shows the correct 500mA.
What might cause this, and how may i fix it?

No one knows?
At what power-level was your phone when plugged in? Because when it was already in the 90's, it charges slowly since the LiIon charge cycle is meant to work that way.
Oh, that might be a very good point. I will let the battery drain a bit before i plug it in the next time.
It seems to draw 96mA still, even if the battery was down to 75 %.
This would mean, your phone needs about 19,8 hour to load to 100 % from 0%. (1900/96)
It is correkt ?
When connected to USB it definitely sounds correct, it takes extremely long time to just move one percentage up. Even when the phone is not in use, and the display is off.
19.8 hours should mean 5 % an hour, and that sounds very correct.
Do you have also the problem, if you charge via a AC adapter ?
While I had it I found out that if you take a car charger or a usb cable and solder the two inside pins together (the data lines) it tells Android you are on a wall charger and charges at the higher rate.
If you use a special usb charger cabel, it should work
Using the AC adapter it charges normally.
I will see if i can mod one of my cables to short the data lines.
Thank you
Are the SGS II enumerated properly, that is the USB drivers are loaded so you can browse the SD card or connect with Kies or similar? Before a USB device is allowed to draw more than 100mA it has to negotiate this with the host. And the USB port has to be capable of delivering 500mA but since your iPhone shows 500mA this should be ok.
I think so, yes. If i chose to mount the SD cards i can fine browse them and upload files etc.
I can also use ADB when connected.

Same situation here...
The phone negotiates only 96mA with my Win7 PC; other devices, on the same PC, negotiate 500mA and the phone charges fast with wall charger.
Does anybody know hot to bring my phone to 500mA on PC?

If you dont mind flashing a kernel try dori or gustavo's. The app where you set the kernel level params, e.g. synapse or stweaks, has an option where you can set the current the phone can draw from a usb connection. By default its 500 ma only.
Btw,did you see the same results with different usb cables/ports/pc?

I'm using Apolo kernel and it is set to use 450mA from USB (default), but the phone only uses 96mA...
Hi there,
In speedmod kernel there is fast USB charging speed to same speed as AC charge feature.
I want to ask is it possible to enable fast USB charging speed in stock kernel/CF-Root? Maybe CWM flashable script?
Thank you.

even the fast USB charge mode cannot match ur AC charge speed ma8
the mode just ensures that when u connect 2 the computer the mass storage is disabled and ur phone will only charge no data transfer happens

I don't think so. I can still copy data to USB when USB charging in speedmod kennel. It is only related with the charging voltage modification.

Coming from the Galaxy Nexus where I had Fast Charge via USB allowing me to pull 1A from the USB port vs the .5A. My Note2 is rooted, does anyone know how to enable this or do we need to wait for a cutom kernel? Thanks!
If you look at the included wall charger, it's rated at 2 Amps. So it may not need the fast charge option.
I think he's referring when hooking the USB to a computer. That is always a slower charge.
You need a custom kernel that supports it.

The Fast Charge enables the phone to pull more power out of a standard usb port connected a computer not a wall charger.
and forget what I just said because i never refreshed the page to see someone already said that. Thanks!
OK, then you'd have to wait for a custom kernel that would have the feature in it.
I use it on the GS3 with its wall charger. It cuts the charge time in half.
But I've never tried it with charging from a PC's USB 0.5A port.
Hello, I bought brand new powerbank from a local website, here is the question. I am not able to charge my i9300 via the cable that came wtih the power bank it's OK, my phone show strange behavior when it comes to USB cables. For example I need to push the cable to the left to get it charging. So I decided to change the cable. The three cable that I had is able charge my phone BUT when I try the charge with them from powerbank, powerbank shuts down itself like when you dont plug in anything to it.
Note:1. Output of powerbank is 1000 mah. so I ignored the safety margin and other things from boeffla kernel and made it 1000 mah when charging via usb cable.
2. I am able charge my kindle WITH every single usb cable that I have so problem is specific to my i9300. Please consider that.

No my friend, powerbank charges kindle and other devices with every cable without a problem
Your usb socket is worn/dirty/damaged.
So my phone only charges with one of the usb cable that i have and it is not a branded but a very out of shape cable . ( the left one in white in photo )
It charges very slowly with other cable hardly gives 600 mA. I have pretty good branded cables which charges other phone quite good but not my kenzo
I have tried changing rom, changing kernel ,flashed thermal libs but nothing seems to work.
I also have original sub pcb which was changed due to mic issue and installing that sub pcb is not helping as well.
So what can be the issue ? is it the usb port ?? or is it something else ?
It would be great if someone could help me with this please

Never use 9v or 12v charger on RN3. it can only take 5v 2A charger.
If u use high voltage charger then it will destroy ur board.
