i want to know difference between these sections in xda lg g2 list
G2 Android Development and G2 Android Development (D802)
whats is difference between both ?
Well the Android development would be intended for D800/1/2/3/5/6 and the American versions where the D802 is specifically for the international version. As you can see though, you can find Roms for many different versions even in the specific version forums

Wrong read, sorry.

so d802 model is for both 32gb and for 16gb ? their is nothing like 16gb g2 is d802 and 32gb g2 is 803 right ?
and one more question xda mentioned G2 Android Development category but why not mentioned carrier name in brackets.
where according to u d802 is international version. xda mentioned in brackets like (d802).
i am asking all these question because i m going to buy 32gb lg g2 in india and i do not want later that i purchased some wrong model of lg g2 which support very less custom roms.
This division was and still is a total mess because a lot of stuff specifically made for D802 works for other versions of the G2. And viceversa. Anyway, D802 describes both 16 and 32 gig versions, yes.
BUT!
There are some firmwares with the label "16G" and those are for the 16 gig version only! If you flash it to the 32 gig version, it will cut your storage down to 16 GB and it's a total ***** and a pain in the arse to get it back to 32.

I am new to the custom ROM world. I am considering moving to the SG3. I was wondering if all of the current Development available for the SG3 applies to the U.S. version?
Will there be different threads here for the international version and US version for apps and development?
I am just wondering if I will be able to do anything with it when it launches here or if I will be stuck with TouchWiz for a while.
Thanks
There is already a forum area for the different U.S. GSIII versions. None of the development for the International version applies to the U.S./Canadian versions.
The forums for the U.S. phones can be found at the bottom of the XDA Main Forum page.
Thank you very much.
I see the Sprint and AT&T versions, but no forum for the Verizon SG3. Guess it wont matter. Should be the same phone, yes?

No one has a Verizon S3 yet, that is why there is no forum for it. But yes when it boils down to it the US S3 should be just like the Galaxy Nexus in that roms can work for both with some file changes for radio and RIL.

I don't know about gt-i9100g, but I'm using SHW-M250S (korean gs2) now.
as i know, there is three type of korean gs2, m250s/k/l. s/k is for gsm, and l is for cdma.
m250s/k is i9100+nfc+dmb(korean tv broadcast)+some pit difference.
if u just flash pit for i9100 on m250s/k, you can flash all roms for i9100 on m250s/k.

And the battery
Sent from my GT-P7510 using xda premium
I don't know about the Korean variant of the galaxy s2, but the major difference between the GT-I9100 and the GT-I9100G version is the SoC. Exynos (made by samsung) is present on the normal (non g variant), and has a lot of dev support because it is the first international variant. The G version has Omap4 SoC, the same as galaxy nexus, which makes it more dev friendly as Omap4 is more easy to develop. However, the G version has 1 GHz processor, not 1.2 (like the non G), tho users are very happy with the G version. It all depends on what you plan to do. If you want to flash AOSP (such as CM9/10) ROMs, you'd be better off buying the G (version) since developers are now leaning towards that. Both phone have custom ICS and JB ROMs, so you don't need to be worried about that.
As far as the battery is concerned, I'm happy with my S2, I can easily spend a day using it with normal use. I plug my phone in at night and plug out after waking up, and use the phone for the whole day without charging again. I guess you could say its reasonable for such a smartphone. I don't know about battery life on the G version, though.
Both phones are alike in physical appearance, and the way to distinguish between them is just the from the bootscreen or written behind the battery on the phone, and on the box ... maybe someone else may tell you more about it.
Sorry for the long post

People in India are not happy about getting the g model in the box when they have paid for the non g model.

the i9100 has the dual core exynos 4210 with mali 400 gpu specs on sheet its faster than omap 4430 , but u wont tell the difference ! the i9100g has a better battery life and is powered by sgx 540 but its overclocked from 233mhz to 384mhz other than that they are the same ! plus i noticed that my i9100g comes with 11gb storage only not 16! which is kinda weird
Dude, give up on the idea and just get a Nexus 4 if you want Jelly Bean.
Don't even think about getting any other Android, it just won't be the same as getting the updates straight from the big G.
Good job necroing a 12 mth old thread
Is there anyone here in the AT&T Optimus G section that wants to guide us Canadians and help the few developers that we got develop ROMs and kernels and stuff for the Canadian Optimus G? The AT&T and Rogers version should be more or less the same, except that the Rogers one lacks external storage. The Telus and Bell Optimus G uses a different modem chip, but otherwise, it should be the same as the Rogers and AT&T version.
Phone details:
Telus LG Optimus G
Bell LG Optimus G
Rogers Optimus G
Tell them to go to the irc channel. There are some competent Canadian users in there. I know some of them are using these roms with unbeknownst to me modifications.

So I ended up PMing one of the devs, and they said the IRC channel wasn't of much help because of different mount points and all that jazzy development stuff...

Why are you asking for help when you guys have a booting cm10.1? We don't even have a native cm10.1 build for the e970.

Because that's all we have. You guys got much more than that. Plus the CM 10.1 has some stuff broken while your custom ROMs are more advanced.

VZW for sure will be the last to get it, but on the bright side, maybe the DEV's will be able what to tell what it does to those of us that are rooted.
It seems to me that LG is very eager to ensure the success of their G2 flagship phone, especially given the fact that Samsung and HTC are now a bit behind with the hardware. LG will probably provide the KitKat in order to send a message that they can also provide timely updates, which is one of the reasons that's keeping the enthusiasts adopting their phone (and the enthusiasts are powerful marketing vectors). It would be great to have the KitKat for the G2 in the same day the Nexus 5 is lauched, it would be a very powerful marketing message from LG.
Having used the Optimus 2X for a while, I find this extremely hard to believe. The Nexus 5 reportedly has lower specs than the G2. If the G2 gets 4.4 on the same day as the Nexus 5 is out, it'd seriously hurt the sales of the N5 for Google. But of course, if this is true, it'd be incredible.
How about 4.3 now? Let alone promising 4.4 when it is not even released yet.
-LG G2
Korean models will be for sure the 1st to get it,good to have one lol

Why waste time on 4.3 when they are working out the kinks on 4.2 and then do a direct jump to 4.4? Personally I hope they arent wasting anything on 4.3.
Agreed 4.3 is anyway just a hogwash, i would rather take 4.4 directly(if it brings anything good to table). 4.2.2 was the last major update for me, and anyway performance has been top notch of 4.2.2.
So iron out the kinks in 4.2.2 then upgrade directly to 4.4 and then concentrate on your next flagship.
According to recent leaks, the Nexus 5 will be almost identical (hardware wise) to the international G2! LG is making the Nexus 5 so they have access to the Android 4.4 Code for sure. They may have struck some deal with Google and be able to bring 4.4 to the G2 sooner than we think!

So:
- Different display
- Different camera
- Different battery
- Probably no FM radio
- Different circuit board (given the different button placement)
What more should be different in order to qualify the Nexus 5 as "different" from the G2 (given the fact that the CPU is a common CPU which will be used by all manufacturers in their phones) ?

Taking LG history of not updating there phones add to that the carriers lack of timelynes plus the N5 is set to drop soon i highly doubt we will see 4.4 till at least Q2
Wait, it's from a PRIVATE Facebook chat? There was once LG posted that the next major update was coming to the Optimus 2X the following month. And it never did. So no, my hopes aren't high.

4.2.2 is running fine atm. No need to rush to 4.4.
As said before, I think Nexus 5 will have 4.4 alone for few months, after that LG will follow.
I *think* I've figured out that "geeb" refers to the ATT E970*, but sometimes it seems to mean any of the E97x series. How/why/what? Am I mis-understanding something?
*Which I have, and have run a couple version of CM and now SlimKat.

Thank you! I did search both the forums and google-wide for a definition. I did later in an unrelated thread find someone asking a similar question about other variants, something like "geeah" and such. I wish folks would stick w/ the E970 name.
Trying to track down what's in a release is tricky, when dealing w/ base level OS version, ASOP, a mod-team name, and line or particular model of phone, a kernel version with a fancy pet-named add-on pack...
