I accidentally installed the wrong software with Odin, and it now has the error "Secure Fail: Kernel".
I'm not sure how to fix it, and it won't go into recovery mode, but when I put it into download mode, it says the following;
Odin Mode
Product Name: GT-I9205
Current Binary: Samsung Official
System Status: Custom
Knox Kernel Lock: 0xfffffffc
Knox Warrenty Void: 0xfffffffc
Qualcomm Secureboot: Enable
Bootloader Ap Swrev: 1
Please help, It's my only phone and I have no clue what to do.

Just download the correct firmware and it will work. Same thing happened to me a week ago. If you have updated your Mega recently, and flashed an old firmware, that is what happens. So flash the new firmware, let it boot and if it doesn't, go into recovery and wipe data.

You HAVE to download the latest firmware for it to work, otherwise, you'll trip the KNOX counter. I learned this the hard way ^•^

I am sorry so I did not mention it, but it was for me selfevident so you need to download LATEST firmware for your region (all firmwares later than xxxUCNA1 should do. Of course there is one unknown - what kind of firmware you were flashing the first time. )
Although you did not post what firmware you were flashed at the beginning and what you are downloaded now, in my opinion red line means so you probably are trying to flash older firmware without knox, while the first one which cost you troubles, was new kind with knox and, what is even more important, new bootloader . This new bootloader prevent from flashing older firmwares (without knox) and such attempt can be source of soft brick. Unfortunately this situation is irreversible and from now on you can flash ONLY newest firmwares containing knox and new type of bootloader.
So find firmware not older than from the beginning of this year suitable for your region and flash it. That should cure problem immediately.

FLASHING WITH ODIN
Odin 3 v3.07 :- http://d-h.st/er8
Install USB Drivers of your Device and remember an odin flashable file is supposed to be in .tar or .tar.md5 format only.
Lets Begin :-
1. Extract the Odin file from the zip.
2. Open Odin3 (Run As Administrator).
3. Put your device in download mode. To do so, press Vol-Down And Home And Power Button all together and when it vibrates release Power
Button. You should have a triangle with an android janitor while it's saying downloading...
4. You should see a blue rectangle with COM:xx and saying Added. It means that your device is ready to be flashed!
5. Go into the PDA section and select your .tar file.
6. Dont check any option (F.reset time and Auto reboot are checked by default) Let them stay like that.
7. Now click Start.
8. When it's finished, it should say that it's done with a green box and your device should reboot by itself
thanks to @Jaspreet_Singh

Thanks Manoj and Koushik but either of your versions seem rather contradictory.
So, I'm rooted with I8552XXAMJ7 and want to upgrade to the latest firmware, which is I8552XXAML3. So, if I use triangle away and set binaries to 0, will I be able to get OTA updates (and keep root with the help of SuperSU OTA survival)? Or if I just flash I8552XXAML3 with Odin, will my device still be rooted?
Which method do you think has a better chance of keeping root? Have you tried any of these methods yourselves?

It's the Lollipop version for the nordic countries. Much more stable.
No, it will not trigger KNOX. Do not flash a custom recovery, that will trigger KNOX.

I read in another forum that when we flash a rom without the hidden image, the modem is not updating and we have to :
a) extract the rom and find modem.bin
b) open odin and flash modem.bin in the CP section of odin.
Can someone verify that this is true?

Hi, new here with a little knowledge
Want to downgrade from 7.0 to 6.0.1 and believe I can do this using Odin, and have a version of 6.0.1 from sammobile.com.
my first attempt failed as sw check failed - device 5, binary 4.
So have downloaded a version binary 5 of 6.0.1 but this is BTU sw not the VOD version that's currently on the device.
I am a Voda UK customer with a locked device - can I load the BTU version on my device or does anyone know where I can find a binary v5 of the VOD 6.0.1 firmware?
thanks in advance.

You can flash BTU on to your device, however there's a chance Wi-Fi calling and voLTE will not work.
However the bad news... You can't downgrade once the bootloader has been updated. If you try it will fail, most likely at sboot.bin

Read up this thread. The guy flashed 6.0.1 BTU over 7.0 and it worked fine without issue. If you download your firmware from http://updato.com it comes in 5 files. Then you can flash the 6.0.1 BL separately.

Yeah okay try that. It may work it may not. If it doesn't then try the UK BTU firmware. You need to flash 4 files. CP, BL, AP and CSC. Not the csc_home

I am not sure if the rom you use is using the latest base.
If that is the case, the BTU/XEU has not updated yet... you can use XEF which is the French version. That has latest base and should flash.

Thank you will try
Also you don't reported which Odin version you was using. you need Odin 3.13.1 to flash Oreo firmware.
And you can't downgrade the bootloader. So you need to flash a stock Rom with same or newer bootloader like already installed.
Don't be afraid to hit the "Thanks" button if someone helped you. It don't hurts

I used the latest odin and now just trying to find the latest firmware , I'm downloading XEF the French firmware that the previous comment mentioned
I would use the stock firmware with the manufacturer CSC of the device.
And there is a log window in Odin that shows logs of the flash process. There showing often useful informations. So next time make a screenshot with this logs and post it here

i purchased my s9+ online from Jumia in NIgeria. there are no available OTA upgrades. phone says no available update info.
i've tried Odin to no avail. i don't seem to find a working download for kies.
software info attached.
in odin download mode the following conflicting info.
product name sm-g965n
current binary: custom
erp and dem lock: off
sec download enabled
warranty void
asb_version 8
etc.
i have downloaded the following ROM and tried to flash via odin from sammobile:
G965FXXSDFTL1_G965FOXMDFTL1_ECT
it fails on repartition. i enclose scr shot.
also when i use the on phone check for csc it gives something different (see attached)
i would like ideally to return to samsung official rom so n can get all latest updates.
i havent done anything to the phone in terms of rooting etc, it came rooted (or partially) and with custom rom installed.
please help!

Flash correct version of the firmware. It looks like your phone is running custom rom. Download the Korean firmware (N) and try to flash with odin.

have you solved as yet?
read the thread fully.
if not the issue was solved by using an older version of Odin.
you need the appropriate ROM for your region, in your case as was mine you need firmware from Korea (N).
