In what condition is it ? If it's in a good one I would buy it. SIII is a good phone. In my country it's kinda hard to find better phones with a reasonable price. If you count on so the price of the S4 will go down it wont be a significant one and even then the S4 is more about gimmicks in the software all the new games work very well on my SIII and you have a great developer team here on XDA for the SIII. In the end it's really your decision, but I say go for it.

Is the Galaxy S2 Still worth buying now?

Hey guys I need some advice. I am still wondering if the i9100 is still worth purchasing. I can get it brand new for 320 dollars here on Canada. While on the other hand, the galaxy S3 ranges from 500-600 dollars. Google doesn't even sell nexus devices in Canada yet? How future proof is the S2? Is the S3 really worth 200-300 more dollars? Thanks guys!
Bring the seller down to $300

But i wont spent 500 for s3...

Everything, literally, is different between them.
Presumably you've never compared them in use, or indeed on paper...
No. (You asked).
I've compared S3's screen with my current S2's one and i must say id much prefer the S3's :good:
The S2 has more in common hardware wise to the Gnex. So the answer to your question is yes it is still worth buying.

Im recieving my i9100 (after getting my i9100g replaced) on monday. Is it worth keeping the i9100 or should i sell it and buy the GS3?.
The market price of the i9100 in India at the moment is 27k and GS3 is 37k.
10k rupees = $181.
Also if i do sell my phone i can expect to sell it at 27k right since it will be brand new and the box sealed
in its price range Galaxy S2 is still among the best phone you can buy.
obviously S3 is much more advanced and all but its quite a bit costlier than S2and shouldn't be compared . Although personally i think S3 is way too big and single handed use of S3 is impossible .
Go for it. It's an awesome phone for the price. The s3 seems to have issues. Look at all of the people selling it already. The s2 just started being re sold commonly, because everyone liked it so well. Im keeping mine.
It's all a matter of personal preference and whether or not you actually NEED the S3 or if the S2 will suffice.
Do you need HD screen? Do you need quad core processing? Do you need NFC? blah blah blah
I still haven't bought an S3 because for now the S2 hasn't stopped me doing anything, It can play any game I throw at it, even high end games newly released, I can watch movies, surf the net, capture photos and videos and even make calls!!
For me the S2 is still an awesome and powerful phone (might I add MUCH nicer looking than the S3 also) and I think it will last me easily another 6 months, by then a phone even better than the S3 will be released
Ask yourself if you need to fork out the extra money and if the answer is yes, go for it!
Just buy the S3 or buy the S2 only if you can get it for around 200-250$, I recently bought one for 200$. Btw try to get the international S3 because the north american isn't worth it over the S2 it still lags a bit while the international one there's no lag because of the much stronger gpu.
Get it. I bought this i9000 galaxy s to replace my old gio which was really slow and had no development. Even this first gen galaxy s is totally future proof so I imagine that the s2 is even better.

I got the S2 3 weeks ago for free, I don't regret it. If you can get it for cheap, go for it, there is a lot if development made for it.

Hi i guess it comes down to ur preferences. There are guys/gals who want to be on the edge of hi tech, and there are others who prefer good performance/price ratio.
S2 is a good phone, it probably has one or two years more market life.
Compare S2 eu/S3 eu:
faster camera
about %20 faster processor with quad and better batt consumption, about double pixel count
about %25 bigger screen,
about % 25 bigger battery,
Nfc support,
Wireless charging,
Much butter sound chip
u decide if it justifies double price
I'am using s2 and I'm not really planning to change yet. i hope prices will drop a bit, or a revised version with better spec and eu compatible

This thread has become pointless. There are already hundreds of 'Should I buy the SGS2' threads on here, and the person who asked the question hasn't even bothered to contribute to the thread since their OP. I'm asking for this nonsense to be closed.

[Q] S2 NOW: is it still worth it?

Hey galaxy s2'ers!!
I am the owner of a HTC HD2 that has been my pride and joy for a long time. However recently its mini-USB port and GPS broke/failed on me and I decided to move on.
I'm looking for a phone I can keep for a couple of years and it must have decent camera, battery life and good GPS reception. Games/3D performance tends to be rather secondary to me.
I checked with my carrier and I can get a brand new 16GB Galaxy S2 for about 200€. There is a more or less similar question to this one here in the forum but do tell me what you think: is the GS2 a good buy these days and for this price?
Thank you!
Yes.Buy 10 of them, keep 1 and stick the other 9 on eBay-youll make a killing.Ones with broken screens sell for that!

I actually like Nexus' slight curvature on the frontal plane but the lack of expansion ports is a deal breaker..
Thanks for the input guys
But whats the total cost/contract.I only buy new unbranded ones and get a sim deal separately. It works out more but I can put it through my business.
Is your deal the phone and minutes etc for the 200 euros.
If it is then buy as much as you can, stick em on eBay and chuck the sims

You bet, it is! I just bought a SGS2 4 months for now, and I am completely satisfied and overwhelmed with it. It has the best package for an Android phone. Tons of modifications depending on your taste, and a very powerful hardware that can run almost every app & games. The only phone I would consider to replace my SGS2 is non other han its successor.
Reference: I've constantly checked other Android phones to compare, but nothing beats this beast from what I see.
Go for S III, or Nexus or S II,
If you want to fully Customise your device go for SII or SIII
If not, other variants of S II Like S II X or HD LTE SGH - I757M have greater Hardware 1.5 Ghz i think.
Peace

Samsung already denied the rumors of S4. It's waste of time to wait for it, go for the Galaxy Nexus if you care for updates and wants to use stock rom.

Than go for Galaxy SII. :good:

You bet I'm still here: thanks for the input guys! I'm having a meeting with my carrier agent - or whatever you call it - to discuss what phone I'll be getting: I share a professional plan with other colleagues so I get to chose a new phone for a low cost from time to time.. hence the 200€ :victory:
don't worry about sgs2, it definitely worth the money since this great phone beat iphone 4s last year. if you are looking for more budget android smartphone, get sgs2 since the price drop a lot since the launch of sgs3. well, if you can afford sgs3, i will recommend it. :good:
i have been using my sgs2 for almost 6 months now, i wanna say that i am more happy to continue to be with my baby. sgs2 get most of the android update, and i just flash a jelly bean ROM.
sgs2 is more easier to root, to customize, to tweak compare to HTC (where you need the whatever S-OFF thing). i almost kill my friend HTC phone by just trying to S-OFF it. stupid bootloader.
conclusion, if you want cheaper, daily use phone, you can go for sgs2. if you want newer phone, get sgs3 or galaxy note 2.:good: just get samsung phone, you get tonnes of tutorials, guides here.

There has been 1 week since I bought my Galaxy S2 and I'm telling you. I love every bit of it. EVERYTHING. The camera, the screen, design, the UI and everything. Having said that, though the reason why I'm in love with it is maybe because my older phone was only a Samsung Galaxy Mini.
i don't know about you, but I think you can't get a better phone with that price (200€). I got mine for €220 and I don't regret any cent spent on it.
worth all that money and much more.
good for you ^^ enjoy every bit of it. like my s2. i am still not bored of it since JB is here for s2 as well ^^

Deving and future possiblity of s2 as buying it

Hello,
I am planning to buy a galaxy s2...... i would like some reviews and help from the members here about..
1. Future possiblities of official new android version on s2
2. Amount of deving on s2
3. How to differentiate s2 i9100 and i9100g?
4. Anything else...
Thanks
S2 will see jellybean. As for 4.2 the jury is out on. I expect 4.2 wont get released officially for the S2. poor Samsung updating is the reason why many are going nexus.

Yes, Android JellyBean v4.1 will be available for S2 by the Year end
2. Amount of deving on s2
No other Device has that amount of DEV compared to S2
3. How to differentiate s2 i9100 and i9100g?
I9100 comes with EXYNOS Chipset and Mali 400 GPU and is quite Diff from I9100G which comes with TI-OMAP Chipset and PowerVr-SGX540 GPU

Obviously you don't have/have never owned a HTC HD2 or visited the forum? The device has an absolutely unbeatable amount/quality/organization of development work and has done from DAY 1. No other device before or since has even come close to the HD2 and certainly not the GS2 (Which is a excellent device nonetheless).

[Q] Req suggestion on Galaxy S II - Indian Users

Hi Guys.. Im using Samsung Galaxy ACE Rightnow..
I hve planed to move-on & YES to Either Galaxy S II (OR) Galaxy Nexus..
The choice i hve is Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy S2 and HTC One S. and the choice is due to my budget.
i know the NEXUS 4 has launched...but as for the news i heard.. LG gona either sell it for above 30k or don't launch it India as samsung did..
The cons i hve with the S2 is ..
1. Poor design.
2. No quick android update... the current update of Android is 4.2 & still s2 got just the ICS. Dono y samsung guys forgot their device after selling them..
3. Absence of dedicated notification light.
The problem i found in getting the Gnex is that,
1. its not yet been officially launched in the India, so no HW & Software warranty.
2. Prob in the GSM Network Getting Locked.
3. lower spec compared to the S2.
My cousin has jus bought GNEX frm ebay las month, n a week before his gsm module got locked while he try to update to 4.1.2..he says like its asking for " SIM Netwrok unlock Pin ".
So pls do help me buying a correct device...
Either GO for the nexus Device or the Samsung galaxy S II....
Thanks in advance...

1.Poor design?? Many ppl retained to S2 bcoz of its nice design...
2. I agree Android update is not quick bcoz of several reasons, AOSP is completely different from Touchwiz.. Like heart s same only skin is changed..
3.BLN might help u.. Even i agree S2 should had notification light.
Gnex:
1.Gnex is made by Samsung. So u ll have universal warranty.
2. Forums might be helpful.
3. No lower at all both have same... Except Camera.
BTW nexus 4 is 24K on Ebay... Now decide which phone u ll go for.. Dont worry if sammy releases 4.1.2 we ll get upto 4.2 unofficially

Guys i love the light weight and sleek design of s2...
But wen compared to GNEX its cool with the curved edges..with no physical button in the front. and the absence of two capacitive touch button made me to tell the genex is cool in looks..
But apart from that its different in inside & i agree with u guys...

I picked the s3 over the nexus because I like tw and the ext sd and removable/replaceable with easy battery. You should have a look at the i9305. Goldie has that and is a really good dev. Team alliance rocks. Wish I listened to him. Plus the biggest point I chosen s3 over the nexus is its made by lg. Living good!! Cheap living more like. Samsung is like Panasonic. Top brand .

I know..im gutted I rushed in and didn't get an i9305 online. I couldn't find one in Peterborough at the time.but we on the I9300 still have a top man making alliance rom for this model and next release is coming soon. To be just like s2 version so that's pretty cool. Only got ten more months on s3 then im moving on to s4  that will be the i9505.

After dealing with freezing issues with I9300, I would never recommend Samsung to anyone. And I have owned MANY Samsung products in the past.
