Hello guys,
I tried to figure this out but no luck.
Some Kernels, and other downloads (Roms, Recoveries etc) are depends on your Android version (GB, ICS, JB, KK).
What about cf root?
I have i9300, running 4.3
CF-ROOT for ICS and for JB, are the same?

CF root stopped development a long time ago .

It says that CF-Auto-Root still has development.
Anyway - Can you explain me how I can be sure which Root belongs to my device?
You asked cf root not cf autoroot i answered .
Read the thread for the root method you want to use ,

JJEgan - I am not sure if you here in XDA to help people, or just to talk BLABLA.
But my question was pretty clear, and you just tell me what not, and some other "non matter" stuff.
I read all CF-Auto-Root thread, but it does not say if the CF-Auto-Root works with KK, JB, or ICS.
Or it works with all i9300?
If anyone knows the answer I will appriciate that! (JJEgan - Thanks but you are not helping)

I have used it on ICS and JB. There is no GB for our device and no official KK. KK roms at the moment will come pre-rooted. If and when we get official KK we will know if it works

Hi guys,
I've been furiously reading through the development threads and have come to the conclusion that, IF, my requirements are only to get a rooted phone without all the fancy ROM flashing and Clockworkmod stuff, I just follow the instructions in the AND THERE WAS ROOT thread right?
I just want a simple, rooted phone that allows me to install apps specific for rooted phones, apply themes, etc as I reckon the stock ROM seems sufficient for my needs
All I need to get a rooted phone for these simple requirements is just root the phone with an insecure kernel and then superoneclick my way to Super User access right?
The and there was root thread is definitely the one for you then.

And there is also a question forum for that...
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
Thanks!
One more question, are the insecure kernels region specific? Most likely my firmware version will be something like DKWE7 (starting with D instead of X as I am in SEA)
Will be ok if I flash with the XKWE kernels right?
Q&A section please.
During your 'furious reading' you obviously omitted to read the XDA rules.

So now that it has been moved to the Q&A section, would you care to answer my question?
Kernel is not region specific .
Modem/radio/baseband /CSC can be region specific as can full firmware .
Root now not the <and there was root > which is now extinct .

I am not clear about the CF-Root v3.7 thread
What does the files do? Is it just flashing an insecure kernel and installing Clockworkmod and super user access root?
Hello,
My SGS2 I9100 is still on firmware 2.3.4 and rooted with CF root.
I'm still very happy with it although the battery drains a bit fast.
I read that the update to 2.3.6 fixed the battery drain.
But I'm still in doubt if I should update or not. I don't want to lose root, so I have a few questions.
Q1: Will I be able to root it with 2.3.6 installed and if so how ?
Q2: Can I do it the same way as with 2.3.4 and use the same CF root kernel or is rooting 2.3.6 different ?
Q3: Off course I'll make a backup first within recovery, but will I be able to restore it if it turns out that I can't root the 2.3.6 and so I don't have CWM anymore ?
Regards,
Stefan.
To answer the first 2 questions, the answers can be found here http://androidflip.com/how-to-root-samsung-galaxy-s-2-using-cf-root-kernel-easiest-best-method/

CF root as usual .
Q2: Can I do it the same way as with 2.3.4 and use the same CF root kernel or is rooting 2.3.6 different ?
NO follow the instructions .

Yes at worst flash an older root to allow recovery .

Okay this is my fault I asked 3 questions in one
By No, do you mean No rooting 2.3.6 is not different then with 2.3.4 and I have to follow the same instructions ?
If I read the link that N0stalgic posted, I think it is the same way as before.

Stefan

There is no "best" way. Its just personal preference and which guide one can understand, and it seems that he understood the one I provided better than your vague explanation. Cheers.
Okay, it's clear to me now. Thanx all for the information.
I've just did the update to 2.3.6 and the kernel has been updated to KK2.
So I used the KK2 kernel for rooting and now it's rooted again
Next thing to do is installing the old bootloader so I can use my jig to remove the exclamation mark. But First another recovery backup.
Thank you ALL !!

Stefan.
I have a Galaxy S3 I9300. I have rooted it about two months ago. Now, when the Jellybean update came, I immediately updated it via Kies. My problem is- Can I root my phone using the I9300XXDLJ1? Btw, I'm from the Philippines.

What I meant by that was the european root package. The I9300XXDLJ1 root package that was released for european countries. I really wanna make sure I'll boot the right root package cause I might brick my phone if I install the wrong one.
Thanks a lot!
if you have an i9300 then cf root will work
Thanks

Hi.
I have been trying to find any Root + CWM but I'm not being much successful.
I did found a way to root and then install CWM, but it's not from XDA and I don't feel that is detailed enough for me to trust I won't do any harm.
By any chance anyone would be able to report a working method to end up with Root and CWM on a I9300 running on UBEMA2?
Thanks.
Walter

The weird thing is that the op has joined XDA from 2009 but still don't know common sense. Yeah he might be too lazy to read xda rules but q&a section is right below the general section.
As above, wrong section
Choose one of these methods
If you use cf auto root you will need to flash a recovery after with mobile Odin or Odin
