Search and download your preferred torrent client from the 1Mobile App Store.
My personal preference is uTorrent for Android.
FYI.
Sorry, new user here so I can't post external links... Google '1Mobile Market' and download its APK from CNET.

Go get ESexplorer (available on amazon app store). With that, you can browse all the folders and files on your HDX. It should be either under DOWNLOAD or the 1mobile folder. There's a part about it on Android Cowboy's youtube tutorial (Sorry, can't post link )
Like Most Any Other Installed App...

Hi Everyone!
Just a quick question for those of you on Jelly Bean and living in Canada or anywhere where Google Magazines is not supported. Did you figure out a way to get the Magazine APK that works into your device and get it up and running? Were you able to download magazines afterwards?
Thanks!

I just got my Nexus 7 Monday, and I've been trying to do exactly that. Couple things i've tried is using OpenVPN client and route all traffic through my US based server, then re-open the Google Play app and all the content shows up. When I browse to the Play Magazines app, it says "INSTALLED", additionally there is no open or update buttons. And when I initiated the install from my PC browser it says it is already installed. I also found an apk and tried installing that, it installed fine (it also gave a prompt saying "system app"...already installed...do you want to replace it notification) but doesn't show up anywhere in the system (app drawer etc.); and when I browsed to Play Magazines app in the Play store it changed from "INSTALLED" to "UPDATE". So it's there somewhere...I just can't see or open it!!
Also just for kicks i tried purchasing a magazine (while the vpn tunnel was still connected) without the app, but it gave an error saying not available for purchase in your country.
I've attached the apk i found, in case you want to give it a try.

Thanks for the quick reply.
It looks like Google really doesn't want us Canadians getting our hands on magazines.
Thanks anyways!

Found a solution!!
(Skip to step 2 and try that first, if that doesn't work then go back to step 1)
STEP 1: install a file explorer (i use ES File Explorer) and browse to system/apps/Magazine.apk. Click to install it.
STEP 2: browse through your app drawer and find "Play Magazines". If it's not there add the "Play - My Library" widget, it should prompt you with a few options of what to add...My Library, Movies & TV, Books and now hopefully Magazines. Once added it may ask to "touch to re-enable" the magazines.
Poof, thats it! Now Magazines should be visible/enabled. Enjoy!
This worked on my Nexus 7, I had to purchase magazines on my PC's browser. on the tablet with VPN enabled it synced the magazine and I can sucessfully download and read it. On my Galaxy Nexus (flashed to YAKJU), even with VPN it will not sync magazines or be able to browse Magazines in the Play store. I'm thinking this is because it detects "region" via the SIM...
Let me know if that works for you.

Which part didn't work? Were you able to open the app (either directly or via the widget)? You shouldn't need VPN until you want to use the app. It should install without it.
I'm using https://play.google.com/store/apps/...t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImRlLmJsaW5rdC5vcGVudnBuIl0. With a VPN tunnel to my company's US server.

Out of curiosity, I know you would need VPN to download the magazines, but once you downoaded and synced the magazine, could you disable VPN and still read it? (i.e. use VPN to download magazines and then disable VPN, reboot the device to it knows you're in Canada and keep reading the magazines you already downloaded?) Or can you only read magazines with VPN active?
Also, did you get access to any of the free magazines that come with the nexus 7 in the US? e.g. Popular Science (July 2012), etc.
Thanks!
@greenglue
Interesting, same as my Nexus 7 except the 16GB. Did you try with VPN?
@mck86
Yes, as far as I have tested you can continue to read once the VPN is disabled. (Although it may periodically disappear again, and you may have to click "re-enable" on the widget).
I wasn't aware of free magazines that came with it, I'll have to double check.
Hi!
Got it to work on my trip to Burlington VT. No VPN needed. It worked by itself. Just had to reinstall magazines app. I will test it again when I get back home tomorrow.

I tried to install the apk but no icon shortcuts show up, I checked the Activities list and it's there??
Got it working. Here were my steps.
1. Download and install the play magazines apk.
2. Download ES file manager.
3. In ES file manager click the apps manager icon and then click play magazines icon. Magazine app should now sign in and work. Icon will now appear tablet wide.
Hope this helps.

Worked brilliantly for me in the UK. Thanks very much!
ES File Manager doesn't show me Play Magazines.
I am in Germany right now, but I guess it doesn't make a difference where you are in Europe, right?

How did you purchase the magazines through your browser? I feel like I'm going to feel really silly once I get the answer but I can't figure it out.

Hi, I'm not sure where to go next. I installed the Magazine APK. In ES I now have the Play Magazine icon showing up when I first open then app (along with all the other folders, Android, Downloads, Movies, Music, etc.). When I select it it lets me install it, which is great, but then it's not showing up in the app drawer or in the App Manager option within ES.
Any ideas how to get it to open? I'm lost.
Thanks!
Worked. Thank you so much. No root required.

I have the google play store on my kindle fire hd but external app links try to open the amazon app store instead of the google play store. A while ago links opened the google play store but i had problems with my kindle so i restored it and started over. Now the amazon app store is default. I tried uninstalling the amazon app store but that did not help. Is there any way to make the google play store the default app store?
There's an apk in the /system/app folder you have to rename to fix it, I believe its called something like market proxy.apk, pretty sure it has the word proxy in it. Just rename it to .old or something at the end of the name.

I knew many bad things about kindle but as I got first kindle today I am amazed that I can't even download free apps. ughh
So Is there any way I can access app store from non-supported country, as last resort I can use USA cc, address, vpn but isn't there any other way to spoof it like fake u.s address and cc no? will same U.S cc and address work with another account?
Well u could try a proxy, which is basically spoofing your IP in a similar manner to VPN. Assuming I understand this, because you mentioned Cc which in believed is country code, and as far as I know I thought the kindle used an IP based tracking to figure out where you were, then again I never tinkered with that while using a proxy on my kfhd when it was running Amazon's os.

You can always download free apps from alternate stores like 1Mobile and Aptoide. Those work fine on the Kindle HDX.
@stunts -- I'm pretty sure he meant CC = credit card

I used and app called fakenamegenerator. You can find it on playstore. Just use your android phone or ask a friend. It will create a fake name, address and a fake empty credit card. This method is supposed to be legal. I downloaded free apps without a problem. I am from the Czech republic btw.

do you also use vpn to access app store, or did you use vpn at the time registration?
No VPN. All I needed to do was set up one click payment method in my amazon account and use the info provided by the fakenamegenerator app. I was then able to download anything. I did not try to download any paid apps though. The free ones worked flawlessly.

that's great, as a precaution I have created 1-click payment (via USA VPN IP) on my notebook, will try it on my device as soon back to home.
One more question, I just have to de-register existing account on device and set my country to US then use new account, enough?

If you root the tablet and rename the "marketintent" APK (forgot the exact name) with ES Explorer or Root Explorer you can enable 1Mobile.

solution for unsupported country app download
To download, on your tab
1. go to "1mobile dotcom" (I can't post a link yet so I seperated it with spacebar)
2. search for es file explorer
3. download it (note that it will require you to download 1mobile app which will then download es file explorer)
4. with this you can download any free app from whatever site and install on your tab.
after downloading whatever apk file you want to sideload,
1. copy it to your tablet's downloads folder (if you downloaded it using pc)
2. open ES file explorer on your tab
3. go to downloads folder,
4. tap the icon of the app you want to install
5. install and enjoy...
hope I was helpful

Hi.
I'm being tempted to buy the new Kindle Fire HDX because of the build quality, amazing speakers and amazing specs. What puts me off is the lack of Google Play store but my main concern is not being able to download and sign-in to Google services and apps such as Youtube, maps, Email, etc.
What alternative ways (or third-party stores) that i can download so i can use and sign-in to most (if not all) of Google services apps that i normally need and have?
Please advice.
Thanks.
Take a look at the forums. At this point you can flash your HDX so that it's basically Android 4.2.2. Thing like Google Apps will all work. I check Gmail and use Google Drive daily on my HDX.
HDX is the best 7 inch tablet on the market right now. Its only real flaw being Fire OS can be remedied by anyone even remotely competent.
1mobile app store works, and you can download most if not all of the google apps through that. All that's really missing is the play store.
My wife has the old Kindle Fire HD and i have downloaded the 1Mobile market plus Good e-reader and Aptoide successfully. I found most (but not all of them) Google apps there but i noticed that you can't sign-in to them especially Youtube. Gmail is no big deal as i can check my mails on my phone or Mac. And there is no Google+ which is a shame. Unless i'm blind or its there now but last night i can't find it.
I dont' want to root my Kindle Fire HDX as im not familiar in the first place and i am very satisfied with just sideloading apps and going through third-party app stores. If there is another way to download the Google apps & services then ill buy the Fire HDX today.
So, apart from the ones i mentioned above is there another way(s) to look for .apk files of my favourite Google apps like Google+, Youtube, Maps, Translate, Drive, etc.? Please??
