[Q] Sense 5 says I'm not rooted - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

So after flashing the new firmware and Sense 5 zip I went to redownload all of my apps, problems is my rooted apps won't work since my phone says it isn't rooted. Do I need to reflash SuperUser or something?

[Q] Lost root after flashing alien rom

I flashed the alien rom last night and after I did that I wanted to flash the new theme so I went to the recovery mode but it wouldn't go so I went to check superuser and it said you do not have root. So my question is what do I have to do to get root back so I can flash the theme?
I don't know If it's the same for the atrix, but when I lose root on my inspire , I go into rom manager and flash superuser. Go to download rom and its in the extras tab

Go to development and search for the root flashable zip for cwm. Its easy and it'll fix you right up. Happened to me

I can't uninstall superuser I can't flash another version from rom manager or can't uninstall from root explorer cause it says you have to have root access to do so. So what do I do root it again on my computer using fastboot it will that be a problem

Same thing happened to me yesterday when I went from GB to Alien 4. Only way to fix it was to re-root the phone.
Works perfect now that I re-rooted and restored the apps/data with Titanium Backup.

Su is useless because they phone is not rooted.
Okay so then what?
I rooted my device and unlocked it and then used tenfar's recovery to boot into recovery and flash alien like its suppose to. Then I get to the home screen and I lost root (no surprise 2nd time) should I reroot and then install the theme. Because it looks like I have the rom on my phone.
Please help me!
JR
did you reroot and then flash theme.zip?

Go to htcdev site and unlock your device. You should be able to flash zip from recovery afterwards

I just kept flashing it until it worked. I once had to flash it 5 times before it worked, and more recently, I only had to do it once before it worked.

It did but su wouldn't actually work all root apps didn't even request root access until it went through with no error.

Open superuser and go to settings and update binaries. You also want to install busybox. There's an app u can dl that installs it for u called busybox conveniently

(Q) Help! How do I unroot my device?

Good day everyone. So apparently I had the courage to root my device using clockwork mod using the i717 method. It was successful and I had superuser installed.
It couldn't get anymore worse. I attempted to install cyanogenmod and it failed. At the restore center (you hold down both volume rockers and the power button), it shows the android robot dead with a red exclamation mark when I attempted to install from a zip file. Fortunately, my phone was able to boot up without issues.
Just now, I installed a root checker app and it says that my phone is not properly rooted. Please, can anyone teach me how to unroot? I can jailbreak my itouch with no issues but this is very complex for me.

Just to clarify, when I open up the zip file of the rom I transferred to my device, it suddenly starts copying to an unknown place of my computer. After that, it would open up the zip file.

Odp: (Q) Help! How do I unroot my device?
flash stock rom via odin
Sent from my GT-S6500D using xda premium
Probably used wrong method. To unroot u just remove su if you want also rm superuser app. But the rest is not because of the root. Can you flash with odin?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Yes, I can flash using odin and I had just re-root my phone. The root checker now says that the phone is rooted.
Now the problems lie with the copying of rom zip files to my device. Whenever I tried to copy, it would stop around 3 quarter. When I try to open it up, it would start copying to a weird folder inside 'temp'.

The rom is cyanogenmod. But this problem is not about the rom. Instead, it relates more to the transferring of the zip file from the computer to my device.

It's okay. I had installed cyanogenmod through ROM manager and it's really cool!

SU Binary Won't Update After Latest SU Update

I updated to the latest SU through the Play Store App SuperSU. Now none of my root apps work. When I open SU it says binaries need to be updated, but it won't update them through the app. I have to reboot into TWRP, but I don't have the latest binaries. And had no luck finding them.
Any one else have this issue?
Any suggestions?
What kind of ROM are you on? If AOSP, you go into developer options and make sure root is enabled there, too? (I Dont know if sense has dev option, I don't use that crap lol).

Stock ROM with S-On. Do not have the latest software update.
What happens when you're prompted to boot into recovery to update the binary? Also, have you checked your settings in the SuperSU app to make sure that you don't have it set to deny permissions to root apps?

If I boot into recovery, it does nothing. And I know my settings were set ask for permission for root apps. But I can't even check my settings now because everytime I open SuperSU it prompts me to update the binaries & if you say cancel, the app simply closes.
Look through the thread in the link below. You may need to re-flash the SuperSU zip in recovery. Normally, TWRP will detect that your phone isn't rooted and give you the option to install the SuperSU app. Not quite sure what's going on in your case:what:

Is there a way to uninstall updates for superSU via settings/apps/all ?

You can uninstall the app but the su binary is still in place (ask me how I know since I just removed the app and still have root access). The su binary file is still installed in /system/xbin. I would think that flashing an updated SuperSU in recovery would just overwrite the older version, at which time the app could be re-installed.

Running CM11, with supersu pro.
- Installed SuperSU.
- Update Binaries via TWRP
- Restart Phone into Recovery (TWRP)
(because it doesn't do this automatically, for some reason)
- Once TWRP loads, it runs the script.
- Restart Phone
- Open SuperSU
- Install as system app.
- Icon disappears
- Play Store, download SuperSU, reinstall as regular
Works for me. Not sure why it has to be like that, though, but...not complaining!

Yeah I'll try that. Before I saw this I tried reflashing SU from the EVO Root files and flashed a different SU app instead and now I have 2 different SU apps so I'm a do a wipe and restore of my Nandroid then flash the updated SuperSU.
Had the same problem.
Thanks for the help. After the restore & Updated SU flash, it's back running normal. Actually running better. Thanks again.
When I installed SuperSU, it did *not* uninstall the older Superuser app.
1) Is that a problem? (Superuser keeps bugging me that the binary is out of date)
2) How do I get rid of Superuser without screwing anything else up?
RootChecker says I still have root, so I guess SuperSU is installed properly...
Uninstall the app, or remove with Titanium Backup.

Hmm, lost root? - How is everyone updating SU binaries?

So I was having Wi-Fi tether issues the GPE ROM and tried a different super user app to update binaries. Kept getting prompted to do it via recovery. Boot into recovery yet when I reboot I'm getting no prompt install binaries. Can't edit /system as root explorer won't work. Any ideas? I've tried both recoveries. I see the su file in /system/xbin
edit: reflashed, got SU back. Binaries still out of date... still getting prompts to boot into recovery to install latest binaries. doing so results in nothing, no prompt, no install. how are people updating theirs??

Yea that was my next move... Been sitting at the starting apps screen going on 10 minutes for the third time
Got Rom booted back... But seriously, supersu is prompting me to update binaries through recovery, but it isn't doing anything at all. Root checker says I have no root access. Any ideas?
