Redo the process by flashing stock, then fastboot the kernel and make sure you press POWER BUTTON when the device vibrates, then you can follow the instruction given in CM 11 thread
Cheers,
AJ

This bug is really annoying me and I can't find any posts on it in any threads.
The haptic feedback in menu and back buttons on mini doesn't work with any setting, but there is vibration in the back button for example if you're using the setting "stop app via long-press".
Why is this, and since the vibration is clearly working could someone maybe play around with the hw_config and fix it for me?
Regards

Anyone?

I have the same problem. My vibration works fine from incoming calls and messages but aint getting any haptic feedback from typing message or from the BACK or MENU keys.
I posted about the bug on the free xperia bugtracker site, I'll post here if I get any response over there

I had same problem, but I had it for all the CyanogenMod and MiniCyanogenMod ROMs. I think it is a bug which still has to be fixed. I spent lots of time, looking for a solution but I couldn't find any.

Goodmorning,
due to a lot of users have been confused in Gava97's thread,in this thread you can find all the steps to setup,configure,install and enjoy cyanogenmod 11.0 on xperia u
Let's start
Requires
Unlocked bootloader
Q : How to recognize if my bootloader is locked ?
A : Simple,if you didn't apported any modifies to your phone,it's obviously locked,but warning :
I'm not meaning that if you have root you are on unlocked bootloader because you can root also in locked bootloader
Q : How to unlock my bootloader ?
A : Follow instructions provided at THIS LINK
Once unlocked bootloader,download Flashtool : LINK
Now,download latest CyanogenMod 11.0 Nightly build : maclaw.pl
*** WAIT DOWNLOAD FINISHES ***
When download is finished,open the .zip file,and then extract the boot.img it in the desktop,then on desktop,create a folder named "kernel" and move the boot.img into it.
Now open Flashtool.exe and install all the required files for flash tool
Now go in C: > Flashtool and open "Flashtool Drivers.exe"
Connect your phone and enable usb debug : Settings - Developer Options - USB Debug
In Flashtool drivers.exe choose the following drivers
Xperia P/U/Sola and Go drivers
Flashmode drivers
Fastboot drivers
And wait that your pc installs all the required drivers
Now you're ready to use Flashtool !
Leave your device connected to computer
Now,go in desktop,or wherever you placed the .ZIP file and move it to your device :
Double click with the mouse on the zip file
Send to ...
Choose "Xperia U"
*** WAIT THAT COMPUTER MOVES THE ZIP INTO THE DEVICE ***
... Now ...
Open Flashtool.exe
Here you can find a image of flashtool should be like :
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Click on the flash icon,then select "Fastboot mode"
NOW LISTEN ME CAREFULLY
Disconnect your device from computer and power it off.
Now press the volume down button while connecting the usb cable to computer
If you're doing this correctly your phone's led should be blue.
Once connected,your computer will install all the drivers of fast boot mode (the same for flash mode),so wait 10/20 sec that your computer installs all required fast boot mode drivers
...Now...
On your computer,select the item "Select kernel to flash",then betake oneself (go) in the directory where you placed the .IMG file,or rather,the desktop,select the "kernel" folder,open it and choose to flash "boot.img",then click "Go" and wait that pc flashes the kernel
NOTE : Kernel flash procedure persists for about 2/3 seconds ! So be patient !
Congratulations,you flashed the kernel
Now we are going to install the .zip file !
Boot cwm
Q: How?
A: When the phone's showing the "SONY" logo,press continuously the volume down button,you should feel a vibration
Here's an image of how cwm should appear :
NOTE : Do not take care of the cam image,is took from gs3,so cam is a quite bit different !ù
Go on the "Wipe data / Factory reset" item
Go on the "Install zip from sdcard" item
Scroll in your files and choose the .zip file
*** WAIT THAT INSTALLATION FINISHES ***
Go on the "Install zip from sdcard" item
Scroll in your files and choose the gapps' .zip file
NOTE : GApps download link is here :- goo.im/gapps
Reboot
Congrats,you installed CyanogenMod 11.0 on your Xperia u
Now,a little guide on how to setup and configure it !
Go to Settings > About phone > Tap for 8 times the "Build Number" item ,due to get the performance/developer options
Go in performance and choose the governor "interactive",now go on frequences and choose "800 mhz" ( a little down clock to get more battery )
Go in developer options and then scale all animations to "0,5X",b ut if you want,you can also disable them by selecting the "None" item
LITTLE TRICK
Go in Settings > About phone > press continuously the "Android version" item,and see the magic U_U :
Congrats (again),you set up fine your CyanogenMod 11.0.
Q: Are you happy ?
A: Press thanks button
Great, thanks for the guide! I haven't done any flashing yet but it certainly interests me.

Flashing nightlies
Hi,
Thanks a ton for the very useful post on flashing my mobile. My question is, if I am already on one nightly of CM11, do I have to do the all the steps again or can I just put the latest nightly zip in my mem card and flash in recovery mode? (I guess I also have to flash GApps again in either case)

I was trying to install the CM11 Nigthly 20. I know this isn't about the XP but I hoped someone here could help me because the XU and the XP are quite the same.

You made it very good and everything is ok. Wait a few minutes - max 10 - for the system to raise/start.

Hello!
I have an Xperia P for about 14 months now.
2 days before my Xperia P crashed and didn't respond on touch or other buttons.
I made a "SOFT RESET" holding Power btn + Volume up but didn't started again.
I tried to start my phone by pressing the power button. The screen was ON and the "SONY" logo appeared, but it never went further and it couldn't even shutdown via Poewr button. I disassebled the phone and disconnect-reconnect the battery.
It wasn't charging when charger plugged in, but it managed to connect either in "flashmode" or in "fastboot mode" to my pc. I tried to flash a new kernel and this is the Flashtool log:

Nope
Try leaving the phone on the outlet for a few hours whether it has a led lighting or not (worth a shot) and after that, try connecting into the flash mode. If you've managed to connect to the flash mode, flash this. http://forum.xda-
developers.com/showthread.php?t=2344987 it is the stock jelly bean on the .100 patch.
Edit:

It might be 3 vibrates though.
Try this too.
Edit 2: Oh and since you've managed to pull out the battery the first time, try doing it again but leave it after disconnecting it for a few minutes.

Thanks for pointing that one out.
Mind trying a few things with that hard reset? Like do it while the phone is connected to the pc etc.

I tried to "herd reset" the device in several different situations.
- Connected to pc
- Connected to charger (witch i think is the same)
- After disconnecting-connecting the battery
- After leaving the battery disconnected from device for hours (for the capacitors being completely discharged)
any other idea? I am desperate...

Hi,
I was completly fed up with Sony rubbish software so I decided to install custom ROM.
First I Unlocked bootloader. That went OK.
Then I installed Custom ROM from user "munjen" http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2531189
I used Flashtool in Fastboot mode.
Now my phone is not able to enter fastboot (blue led) and doesn't boot. If I restart it with up+power the backlight lights up (LCD is till black) and the notification led goes quickly trough all colurs it can display.
After that, It's all dark. except LCD backlight.
Here is part of the log from Flashtool:

I pluged my phone to PC, opened Flashtool, choose correct ROM (.img) and tried to flash it.
In fact, I solved my problem myself. I turned on my phone in "flash mode" (down+on) and flashed some original ROM in .ftf. It worked. (after third try though)
And now, I'll try again! :angel:

The boot.img is not "the ROM" it's just the kernel.
To flash the whole ROM copy the zip file to internal memory, then flash boot.img.
Next biit, and press volume down about once a second, untill CWM recovery comes up, then choose flash zip, choose zip to flash, choose and flash
flashing

dont forget that you have to wipe data and wipe cache patrition in cwm or twrp.:good:
thank you guys, I'm getting there. It was a while since I flashed my last rom (xperia x8).
-bootloader unlocked OK
-copy entire .zip to internal memory OK
-boot into fast mode and flash kernel (I found it in the munjeni's .zip file, Is that ok?) OK
-boot into CWM -I'm not able to, what could be wrong? I did as ChikeD told me, but recovery won't show.
Here's the whole log of my "operations" if it helps.

After you flash the boot.img, start the phone and once you see the Sony logo, press the volume key (down or up) repeatedly until all the led colors stop blinking. Then you'll be in the recovery mode. Wipe n install the zip. Good luck!

thank you guys, I'm getting there.

Is it not good to unlock your bootloader?
Sent from 'not any permanent posture/position' using Xperia go
i decided to mess around with my old wt19 so after unlocking the bootloader i wanted to install a custom rom. I have some experience with that so im not a complete newbie
I have flashed roms and unlocked bootloaders on multiple devices. I always read carefully instructions etc.
But this one gave me a headache.
After deciding to install a custom rom i had to unlock the bootloader. I had problems with fastboot recognizing the device but after an hour and a half of so of reading ad searching i managed to get it working and unlocked the bootlader.
After that i spent about 50 mnutes looking for a good kernel and after failing to flash one via fastboot i used flashtool to do it.
I used this guide
After seeing no errors i unplugged the phone and tried booting. I pressed power button, the phone vibrated but the screen was always black and nothing happened.
Long pressing power button did not reset, completely unresponsive, i had to pull the battery out to make it vibrate again uppon booting but same thing happened, no response. Flashtool no longer recognises the device the ledt doesnt light up when charging but the phone got hot during this time indicating itwas trying to do something.
After a short while,maybe the battery died, but even pulling out the battery and trying to boot again did not make any vibration indicating it was completely dead.
Kernel i flashed was kappa kernel
I tried booting to kernels cwm recovery but nothing happened.
SO im out of ideas
Any suggestions ?
