Flash JB boot.img in fastboot mode.
fastboot flash boot boot.img
You can use the stock boot.img from here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2239511
Or any boot.img for Jelly Bean from the Original Android Development section.

Okay and after flashing the boot? try again to restore my old rom?

You said you restored your backup, so just flash a JB boot.img is enough.
Restoring the backup again after boot.img flashed is fine too, no harm doing that and maybe even better.

just for my knowledge, Im wondering about having to flash the 4.1 and 4.2 boot.img depending on which rom i use. I looked in twrp backup, and it backs up the boot.image doesnt it? doesnt this mean it also restores it? meaning no need to fastboot it?
Thanks in advance

Short answer, no. Fast boot the image every time. Long answer is to search Google and these forums to understand what a boot.img is and why it needs to be flashed

Ok, no probs, thank you very much Kraizk!!
:good:
Only need to flash boot.img when theres a custom kernel all stock boot.img will work for diff roms with stock kernel bit its still a good habit to flash boot.img when flashing new Rom if you don't know what your doing to prevent problems

ok, so, i made a backup with twrp of my stock rom (im in uk, my phone is non branded) and then flashed lloir 4.2.1 rom, followed by the reccommended kernel, which is great, I love aosp. but i didnt save my old boot.img from my stock , which was 4.1.2? if i want to flash my backup of that, do i need to flash a different kernel? and if so, which one?

I believe TWRP should have saved your boot.img unless you specified otherwise. If you want to restore from a backup, you'll need to transfer the boot.img from the backup to your computer (there should be a folder containing it in your internal memory), restore the backup, and then use the "fastboot flash boot boot.img" command to flash your old boot.img. If you really did lose your old boot.img somehow, I suspect you can find a stock one floating around the forums.

[Q] Bootloop after nandroid recovery

Hi everyone..first post..so..noob alert!!
I have a gsm xt910(673.94.324 asiaretail) on stock 4.0.4, rooted, safestrapped and with cm10 in my romslot 1.
So today i did a nandroid backup of my stock system..because i had lost some apps(happened randomly earlier too)..the recovery was successful..but when i booted it up..it was stuck at a black screen with the buttons lighted up n random vibrations..
I tried booting cm10..same thing..
so i wiped all my rom slots except the stock..created a new one and restored the stock nandroid on it..n it booted up just fine..
The thing is..stock slot wont boot up..regardless opf the rom i put in it..nandroid..cm10..whatever..
And only the nandroid backup of stock rom works..in custom slots..no cm10..no aokp..nothing..
i've considered the rsd route but i dont have the fastboot files for asiaretail 4.0.4
please suggest..i want my stock rom in my stock slot back and the ability to boot up cm10 in safe system!!!

Ok just to clarify, Ive tryed flashing a new rom and it just bootloops still its a sense rom that I flash on iCS, do you think I should flash the boot.img from fast boot then remove the boot img from the rom and flash it from recovery? or restore a recovery?

[Q] help! cant upgrade to jb!

ok before i was on ics stock. then i upgrade to jb and i dont like it. so many bugs. it is an early jb build btw.
then i downgraded back to ics by installing a jb hboot twrp, and restore a ics nand backup by ckpv5. then 3 months later which is today, i want to upgrade back to jb.
so i install everything back to stock. both stock recovery.img and stock boot.img installed. i used the files from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2210619 at post #1 there are
STOCK_boot.img_Installer.zip - [Click for QR Code] (3.58 MB, 609 views)
STOCK_recovery.img_Installer.zip - [Click for QR Code] (4.32 MB, 622 views)
and just simply press install recovery.img and install boot.img command via fastboot. ok so all done everything is stock. stock kernel stock recovery and stock ics rom, but jb hboot.
then i go to settings and check for update, and i downloaded the 4.1 jb upgrade and it says ready to install then i press ok to install it. then my phone shuts off by itself then i didnt really pay attention to my phone for about 20 seconds then my phone reboots, i thought to myself wow it took this short amount of time to upgrade to jb? then after phone boots my phone are still on ics!! i checked an update again from settings and it ask me to download the updates again.
what should i do? i already changed everything to stock, recovery and boot (kernel) to stock. what else i should do?

You already updated to JB before, so there is no need/you can't to do software update again (with ICS boot.img and recover.img but your hboot is JB), just simply restore your JB Nandroid backup
Then only do software update checking if there is another update for your CID

There are not many of JB Nandroid available - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2324815
Just check your CID and see any of those match yours

You're definitely using a TWRP recovery made for JB hboot? @GtrCraft, did you put the right boot.img inside the zip?
Also, you can try flashing a custom JB kernel of your choice.
@dansou901 I believe so, flashing this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2344254) work like a charm (except for the rom that hasn't got any wifi, ...)
How can i check to be sure?

For booting that ROM a CM kernel is needed. As you have installed one (if it works like you said), you need to install a JB Sense kernel (just pick one from Original Android Development section). Then reinstall SuperSense and you should be fine.
I'll give that a go and let you know
@dansou901 , i've used this boot.img (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2337389) because i've already been able to flash that rom as well.
but now i can't seem to get rid of my previous custom rom. i've done a factory reset, i wiped everything there is to wipe, i've flashed the above boot.img and supersense but it's still another custom rom on my device :s

That's a CM kernel as well. I told you to use a Sense kernel. Use this one for example: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2483489
and your recovery should work again as expected. Btw, which recovery did you install? Please give the link.
this is the twrp recovery.img http: // teamw . in / project / twrp2 / 140 (yeah, can't post outside links yet)
i'll give that one a shot

That one's made for ICS, if I recall correctly... Don't use it. Use this one instead: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2099513 But be sure to use a JB version.
After changing my recovery, finally i was able to flash the custom rom. I used the boot.img you gave me, but is that going to affect some of the features in the rom?
And i would like to thank you allready

No, it's not. You can however choose the kernel yourself as I said... But keep in mind that it has to be a JB Sense kernel (just read the OP of the kernel thread carefully, then you'll know). For recoveries, keep this in mind.
