removing accented keys from keyboard - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

So I'm not sure if this is a possibility but I was curious if there's a way to remove all the accented letters that appear when you long press on a letter?
I usually long press certain keys to get commas, question marks, etc, and on certain keyboards (depending on the rom) it seems they've more recently started including all the accented keys and I have swipe to the punctuation I want, instead of just long pressing. This may seem trivial (mostly because it is!) but it's just a personal preference and I'd like to see if it was possible.

Changing keys in the "Symbols" keypad for Verizon Touch Pro?

Has any research been done into whether the keys listed in the Symbols on-screen keyboard can be changed? The first row of symbols can be activated using the number keys on the hard keyboard. I'd like to move semicolon up to the first row and replace one of the rather less useful smiley-faces, as there is no longer an Fn-key combo to quicky type a semi as there was on the xv6800.
Because there's a hard key to bring up the symbols pad, that'd get me back to two keystrokes for a semicolon, far better than one keystroke + hunting around in the symbols keyboard.

[Q] Disable the button to change keyboards.

Alright, I HATE Swype, and basically all keyboards under WinMo except for the default full QWERTY. I hit the stupid keyboard open/close button ALL THE TIME when trying to hit the space bar, and I am tired of it. Is there any way to completely remove or otherwise disable this button? Thanks to anyone who can help.
I too am very frustrated when I just want to hide the keyboard and instead a popup appears to choose form other keyboard types :-/
Is it possible to only use the QWERTY keyboard without any other to choose from?
Or Just assign only show/hide keyboard function to that button...
I got used to touch the button on the left side, but anyway I would love to disable this feature as well.

Swype with both period and comma keys

Hi,
I have Swype keybord with only period key on my SGS3, so when i want to write comma, I must long press period key, this is very annoying (picture 1). On my old SGS2 was Swype keyboard with two separate keys, one for comma and one for period (picture 2). Is here any way to enable two separate keys for comma and period on SGS3? Swype language is CZECH (QWERTZ). Thanx and sorry for my poor english.
You don't have the swype keyboard. You have the Samsung keyboard with some swype features built in.
I too miss the extra characters and the arrow keys stuff you have in swype, so have installed the beta. But it now does have an issue with being shorter in height than the standard keyboards, by about one third.
If you install the beta, once activated it may show on screen the first time really really small; just flip to landscape then back to portrait and it will be better.

Why in the hell a navbar?

Been asking myself this question, i mean besides the fact that it looks kinda cool isnt it ABSOLUTELY USELESS?
I tried using it a few times but come one, lets face it its useless. We have buttons for it. And its quite anoying to use anyway.
So why do you use it?
Some phones and most tablets do not have hardware keys or they are hard to reach (except maybe a physical "home" button)
It's complete waste of display estate to enable and actually use a navbar on the S3 since, as you already point out, it has the major buttons as hardware keys, some with double meaning depending on press duration.
it's easier to use the on-screen buttons than to push the physical home button.
Also, ParanoidAndroid allows to adjust the navbar color on a per-app basis, which is pretty awesome
I also find it pretty useless but I think the point is to save physical buttons:silly:. Not using physical buttons keeps the phone in better condition for re-sell. Now they started to add Recent Apps and Lock phone icons(which I genuinely hate) in the status bar for the same reason.

Samsung Keyboard Cover (and any external keyboard)

I've noticed that the keyboard cover (and any external keyboard actually) does not use the shift key to create a capital letter. I recall that this was not a problem before, and I'm seeing it on all my Android devices.
How are you all resolving this?
OK, I've figured this out, and I'm typing on the keyboard cover now, and shift for capitals are working as expected.
What I did:
I looked into the input settings, and found the shortcut keys. Discovered [Meta] + [space] is the option to switch keyboards. I assumed [meta] was the search button. When I hit that combination, I saw a "Samsusng" toast pop up, and upon testing in my apps again, lo and behold, shift capitalized my letters.
Thanks for watching!
