I toyed around with this tab too much I can't even tell you what I have installed ROM wise. I know I restored using CWM and now I have some version of Tegra II Modz loading the tab. I restore back to stock otherwise as it has the original screen and apps installed. Basically its back to stock expect I can't download or install any apps, play back video, ... and currently has the non working "gMarket" app.
My question is, can how do I completely restore this thing back to stock? Or what's the next move?

I've tried many roms also but keep going back to VeganTab a gingerbread rom, works with most apps. I have a quite larger problem, I installed the JP3 rom from Eugene and Bionix. Well I revereted back to a nandroid of Vibrant9, thats where my problems began. After the nandroid was finished I seen the GTI9000 screen and it stayed there so I tried to revert back to stock with odin. I havedone every stock 2.1 odin they have posted and they go into a bootloop boot all the way up for about 20 seconds and then reboot. So I managed to get my update.zip pushed to my internal and without having to reroot the phone I got into clockwork mod installed Franken Twiz it works great other than the new problems. My signal either shows to be all or nothing no more individual bars being full, and my market place with download maybe 5 apps and wont download anything else after that. Did I do something wrong I followed all directions to a T help is needed Please.

I would revert back to an older nandroid of your system.
Tried that I even tried to revert to stock using oden and it goes into a bootloop and when I do manage to get a rom installed and loaded my market place starts trying to download a **** ton of apps that im nt trying to like i got a virus from either one of the root methods or from one of the stock oden roms off this website

You could try downloading lookout from the market. It will scan the apps you have. I personally havent seen a virus but im careful what I load.
not to be rude but in the OP it states that my market place no longer works becase of this. none of the antivirus apps actually work they have never been tested with a real virus. if someone can post the apk for a zip file containing that apk for lookout we can test to see if it really works
I am hoping someone has some knowledge of this...I had a lot of trouble getting CWM recovery to boot on my vibrant, but thanks to these forums, I installed ODIN, got back to Eclair, re-rooted and got CWM recovery to boot. I am using the Auxoria ROM and when I installed it I selected wipe data, etc, but when I flashed it through CWM, I am not sure if it did it or not. It appears to be working, but it seems to have a few strange behaviors from before. I then restored all apps and system data from Titanium Backup. Then got to thinking, can Titanium backup restore any system data from the Eclair ROM that would cause issues? When you restore after flashing a ROM, are you supposed to NOT install system data? I wonder if anyone has any experience with that and can make a recommendation. And Happy Mothers Day out there to any mom's out there that give so much to raise a family!
Restoring system data is absolutely a no-no
You typically can restore the green ones, if on the same os... But if you had eclair settings and restored on froyo, I bet you have a lot of little bugs.
I would odin to jfd, flash a new rom and then restore just the apps+ data.
Also, axura was great, but done master has moved to greener pastures you may want to try another. I think master said he would try and support this device still, but that's to much to ask of him I think.

Thank you....What other ROM would you recommend. I looked for one with a working GPS, and minimal bugs. I really want to do cyanogen 7 like my mytouch4g, but it doesn't seem ready yet. Am I just able to reflash and wipe data when I do? Any reason I really have to redo my odin and eclair refresh?

You can't go wrong with Trigger or the new Bionix NextGen.
I would go back to stock, just so you know you'll go to the next rom with no bugs.
Check my signature. Amazingly easy to go to jfd > new rom.
I would suggest Trigger for having everything work as it should/theming.
I went back to eclair and flashed trigger 3.2, but it seems pretty bland? No way to edit functions for home keys, or customize much of anything...looks like 2.2 really, am i missing something? I selected launcher and want to try TW launcher but I can't see where I can do that. I wanted to edit my grids but don't see that either...like replacing the app of web browser with text app...used to be able to edit on homescreen but that is even gone...

I just got G tablet and I am not realy happy with it (unable to watch youtube,can't install regular market etc), and since you guys are trusted I wanted to ask: Should I keep this tablet? I want to hear your option before I attempt to root it (wont be able to return then). Bottom line is, I was hoping to have something simular like my EVO but with bigger screen
f you think this is a keeper, please point me to some nice rom and if you have advice I would be happy to hear them.

Try one of the froyo roms which includes full market. Download tegrazone from market and check out the thd games especially shadowgun! The devs are close to completing a honeycomb kernel which will give us full use of honeycomb. Give it a try you can always switch back to your original rom.
If your ok with the hardware and are just looking for a better ROM, then by all means keep the gTab. Stock on this device is unusable and a waste of time. You can always return the tablet after installing a custom rom. Just NVflash back to stock and your good to go.

DONT USE ROM MANAGER. Only use nvflash, the original bootloader, or clockwork mod boot
loader. It would be wise to upgrade to 1.2 bootloader. You will not have hardware acceleration With a gingerbread or honeycomb roms. Just my opinion but I would try mountain laurel or brilliant colors and try the thd games.
I don't use ROM manager it just get installed with recovery. Finaly Vegan-Tab on it. Thankls guys, I will considered upgrade to 1.2

ok, ill try to make it simple, ive been working on my tab since 1pm and its 11pm and am still f*cked up
So to make a long story a short one here is what happened
Since i updated to ICS, everything was fine except for flash player not playing my videos anymore, i found a thread explaining how to fix it BUT i didnt reinstall CWM when i update so i actually did (by mistake) a complete reset on my tab (losing all datas, picture, apps etc)
I was wise enough to make a backup on sept 30 b4 i update to ICS
so i found how to re root the tab on ICS, i did it with success, install CWM with odin
then i took rom manager and restore my apps and data and this is where it got complicated
the md5 mismatch popped out, founded how to fix it using terminal emulator, did it then restore
all my apps and settings where back up except for my pictures (its okay i had them saved on my pc)
so i thought i would simply re update to ICS and my life would be great......NOT !
now i keep getting an error: system UI has stopped
went back to recovery tried to wipe everything to factory reset and start all over again,
well my tab is now reset BUT that freaking system UI error keeps coming up and i cant do nothing
the tab is reset but cwm is still installed and i can still restore from my backup so actually i guess it mean the tab is not fully reset.
more, when i plug the usb cable, it doesnt show up on my pc so i cant explore the tab manually
now i dont know what to do, i've been googling for the past 2 hours, cant find a decent solution.
All i want is toget rid of that system ui error, reset the tab and then try again to restore my old backup so i can have my apps then re update to ICS
please, am really desparate, i need help

i think i might have brick my tab
actually while i was waiting for a reply, i went back into Odin and flashed twrp recovery that i got from another website
then i went into recovery and tried again to wipe everythig (cache, devlak and factory reset) i was then back to honeycomb 3.1 but still getting that systemui error
then i've hit system wipe wich has wipe my rom so now my tab isnt rebooting
its stuck on the samsung galaxy tab screen
while i wait for your help, im looking around to find and set back the stock rom
i feel really dumb atm
Try re-install your rom again by using odin

If it were me I would flash stock recovery and stock Honeycomb image and then manually update to ICS using OTA's if stock rooted ICS was the goal. I would not mess with ROM manager or restore apps and data using it as it is likely where you started to get into trouble.
I have seen the system ui error message before myself and it was when I had restored all apps and data blindly over a new install of ICS using titanium. I had to reflash the ROM again and opted instead to manually install the apps after which I restored data for them individually using titanium. Its a pain to do it but the best way to ensure a stable end result. From that point on the lesson learned was to not restore all apps but just the missing ones.

thanks, after i sent that post, i finaly found the stock ICS rom for my tab and installed it,
now am back to the point where i want to restore my apps/data/pictures from my backup that i did with nandroid
thats where i need help, i still get the md5 mismatch but i know how to fix it using terminal emulator but i think the system ui problem comes up because the backup is from a honycomb 3.1 or 3.2 and now the tab is running ICS.
if i reinstall all my apps manually, do you know how i could restore my data from the nandroid backup ?
am trying to find my original 3.1 honeycomb rom but it seem that it doesnt exist on sammobile
Just manually reinstall everything and set it back up without restoring data. Otherwise you're looking for trouble in my opinion.

thats what i did, i found one, then i restored my apps, then i updated to ICS
found a version of flash player working, installed it, and now am happy
all i have to do is to set back my home pages

Is this possible? The full details are I had my phone stolen, and got a new one with android 4.0.4 on it. I have on my computer a copy of my latest backup of my old cognition gingerbread rom. Can I just use CWM to recover to my old rom, or do i need to first downgrade to a gingerbread rom, and then recover?

Edit: Also, I don't actually want to use the old rom, I just need the contacts it saved, afterwards I'll wipe everything and install a clean ICS mod. In case there's any way of doing this without having to revert
You'll probably need to restore the backup with a version of CWM close to the one the backup was made with, you can often have problems restoring if you're using a CWM version a lot (say 12 mths or more) newer than the one you made the backup with.
So I'd probably go GB/with a rooted GB kernel first, restore the backup & go from there. I mean, it could work first try with an ICS kernel that's running a recent CWM build, but there's a fair chance it won't.
Edit - And be really careful with stock 4.0.4, don't do a wipe while you're running that.
Wow. I just... wow.
Ok, so I did the stupid thing and just tried to restore my old backup without doing proper downgrading first and it ended up soft bricking my machine, couldn't get recovery mode up, but I got into download mode. So I downloaded my country's stock gingerbread rom from samsung's site and flashed it with odin just to see what happens, and somehow my old rom was working again, and I have all my contacts and data. saved everything up to google, upgraded to ICS, import.
Everything went better than expected.
