Please forgive me for a sloppy way to explain but these are the steps to get your tablet to un brick. Plus I am not responsible WHAT SO EVER!!! Just trying to help
Technically there is no way to unbrick a device, because for a device to be truly bricked it has to be completely unusable, no recovery no nothing. Who cares about technicalities though, good job, I'm sure this will help someone down the road!

That's true, at most this fixes a semi-brick. Some people consider it a brick, if there is no way to brick it back to life, without opening up the device.
How about some explanation of how you semi-bricked your Flyer/View? Trying to root, what step you got stuck on, etc. What were the symptoms? Stuck on boot splash screen, etc.
But thanks for posting.

Thanks for your input, then again there are noobs like myself.
You should be able to take the same RUU file and rename it to PG41IMG.zip, place it on the root of the sdcard, then boot into bootloader, and it will automatically check for the file and ask if you want to install. Does the same as what the OP does but with no ADB required.
***DO NOT*** leave this PG41IMG.zip on your sdcard. If you get caught in a bootloop or something similar it will prevent you from getting to recovery. Once hboot detects that file it only lets you choose install or reboot. So you can't select recovery without removing/renaming the file.

You must have made a mistake.
Check out this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1175589
When you download it on a windows pc, if the pc is setup to NOT show file extensions, and you name it .zip the file will end up being named PG41IMG.zip.zip causing it to fail. That is the most common reason for it to fail. It is also case sensitive, and MUST be on the root of the sdcard, not on any folders.
P-G-4-1-I-M-G
It works on basically every HTC Android device ever made and has worked on this particular one for other people.

Still didn't answer all my questions. What step, or what were you trying to do when you got stuck on the boot splash? Add this info to the OP, so people know what situation this "How To" is applicable for.
And its not a brick, just because you didn't know what to do.

There isn't an option to reboot that you can scroll to with the volume buttons and select with the power button??
If it did install the RUU you would have seen it saying stuff about unpacking and such on the screen, and a litle progress bar usually in the upper right hand corner tho it could be placed differently on a tablet. Either way after it install an RUU the only thing you should be able to do is press power to reboot.

Install this:
http://goo-inside.me/superuser/Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip
Worked for me as far as I can tell. My device says S-ON but above that says 'UNLOCKED' and I was able to flash the CWR 5 recovery image and use that as posted earlier in this thread.
The worst nightmare was getting my computer to recognize the phone. I had recently put a new hard drive in my computer, and HTC Sync etc would NOT work. I tried TWO other computers and still would not work. Finally had to dig up the old hard drive, put it back in my first computer (since I had used that successfully to update my Slide in the first place to Froyo 2.2) and do all the steps.
Still can't explain what the problem was, since the new hard drive is the same base OS (Win 7 Ultimate 32 bit) but at least it worked. And now this phone has some life again (despite a failure to replace a cracked digitizer)

i installed clockwork recovery image thought it was work when i tried to install superuser i noticed clockwork recovery was not working when i pick any thing from the menu like install for sd it doesn't do anything. please help.

You can't S-OFF with the new bootloaders. But at least with your bootloader unlocked, you can do some of the things an S-OFF'd phone can (like flashing CWM Recovery and r/w in /system/), so it's still fairly useful.
So I'm a real noob to rooting, so please be patient. My wife dropped her phone in the washing machine without noticing, and it went through a whole cycle. Long story story, her HTC EVO 3d is dead, and had to buy used one off ebay. Just got it yesterday, it's been rooted with stock 2.3.4 rom. She was never a fan of this, so I looked into getting her a custom ICS rom. Already installed was the Revolutionary CWM recovery from the previous owner. How this differs from regular CWM, I'm not sure. I went ahead and download ROM manager and assumed I flashed the recovery to regular CWM. I then proceeded to reboot with the power and vol down buttons, and was searching the recovery menus again, and I noticed Revolutionary CWM was still on the phone. Then I somehow accidentally installed a custom rom I downloaded on the sd card, into the recovery menu. Well now the phone doesn't go past the HTC logo and I'm at a loss. Any help or am I doomed?
First thing you need to do is pull out the battery, put it back in and hold power+vol down button.
should get you into bootloader. Tell us what it says there. like s-on/off hboot version etc. you probably should be able to access recovery from there as well
How to fix recovery
Im not such an expert on android, rooting etc but that knowlegde I have ill share
As far as I know, I may be wrong, the HBoot version you have wont make a difference,
Try -
- take battery out
- replace battery and hold volume up rfirst and then press and hold power (boots in hboot after +/- 3 seconds)
- now use power, and volume buttons, boot into fafstboot(should just be power button)
- plug usb cable in computer and connect phone
- if you have fastboot, navigate to the exe (fastboot.exe) else just google fastboot download
- google your choice of recovery, 4 ext (i prefer) or cwm,etc its a zip file(extract the recovery.img file) or just a plain recovery.img file
- place this recovery.img file in the exact diractory as fastboot
- now make sure your phone says FASTBOOT USB, ,if it doesnt, check that ur phone is connected, try different usb ports or other cables
- press windows key and 'r' @ the same time, then run cmd
- navigate to fastboot directory
- type " fastboot devices" to check if cmd picks up ur phone , result should be a serial num- mine eg would look like (HN225NM5698)
- then if it did pick up device...
- type " fastboot flash recovery recovery.img " flashes ur custoom recovery u downloaded to ur phone
- now to boot into recovery type " fastboot boot recovery.img " OR to reboot type " fastboot reboot " phone reboots
IF ABOVE INSTRUCTIONS DID NOT SOLVE PROBLEM
try, if possilbe, booting into OS, download ROM manager and flash CWM recovery through that, if that doesnt work
try running a RUU, (remember to change ur CID to match RUU) and lock ur bootloader
if all else fails, follow my post @ ask team derp ur q pg.550, that might help:good:

If you want a completely up to date phone just use the latest RUU. It will update everything to the latest.
Then if root is not important leave it. And if you want root then just flash a recovery and then superuser zip.
EDIT : I see you edited it yourself.

the wire-trick requires stock rom although some people have managed to get it to work with custom roms. you'll probably need to run the RUU to get back to stock so its best if you follow all the steps.

Perfect. Makes sense.
So I tried flashing ruu but cannot because pc cannot recognize phone, as I can't get it to go past htc logo as it just hangs there. It's basically sitting in a Charge Only mode. I'm only able to access bootloader screen. Sooooo, next option would be to place RUU on sd card and install from there, correct? Does ruu need to be zip file in order to flash in recovery screen? Or can I still use the exe file that's sitting on my desktop?
Boot into boot loader and select fastboot and connect phone to pc ...phone should show fastboot usb.then run the RUU and let it complete the process . It's not necessary to boot into android if you are in fastboot mode.
EDIT : oh sorry I forgot, that you will have to relock the boot loader before using RUU using "fastboot oem lock" command

So, here's my issue, I can see FASTBOOT USB show up no problem in bootloader, but my problem is, my pc won't recognize my phone through usb cable. My phone doesn't show up in windows explorer. Before, I could just change the USB from "charge only" to "Disk Drive" and my pc would list my sd card at Drive E. That's my issue, if pc can't see phone, I can't relock bootloader and can't run ruu. Am I missing a step here?

Only way I can get my pc to recognize phone is if I go into recovery and "Mount USB Storage" - this is the only way File Exporer pops up my sd card.

Okay with some searching, it seems verizon can't unlock via htcdev. I have to use runrunner. However it also gives me issues. Im running from the same location I would run the fastboot, however im getting an error here too.

If I'm not mistaking the Verizon variant can be unlocked via rumrunner. Check the Rumrunner thread to make sure.

read my last post. RumRunner doesn't work with latest 4.3 Verizon HTC One Maxes. Neither does Firewater. Only 4.2 And you can't downgrade to 4.2. It will brick your device.

how did you get runrummer to work? It went through all the the steps, then when it got to the end, said device isn't rooted. How did you get around that?
Not to be rude. Im sure it will work. You might need to read again and write down the steps on paper thats what i had to do. Also go to android development and those guys will help you thats what i had to do.

There are no actual steps besides things you need anyway.
Drivers..HTC Sync uninstalled. USB Debugging and no lock screen. Run program.
But it is trying to S-off but it can't because its not rooted..and its not rooted because its locked. There is no guide that shows how to unlock with rumrunner.

I have packaged up the last two official RUUs into exe form for use on the DNA. I have tested these on my own DNA. They will work with locked/s-on phones.
DO NOT LOCK OR S-ON for the purpose of flashing these. It's not necessary.
Below you will find both 4.09.605.1 and 4.09.605.5
Intructions:
Extract to folder. Double click ARUwizard.exe. Follow prompts. When complete phone will reboot. If attempting on a non bootable phone connect the phone in fastboot mode.

These ones are great too because they don't phone home and they don't care what custom rom you had been on. We had a problem for a while on htc phones that didn't have external SD cards failing signature checks when flashing via fastboot.. With these that problem is no more.
I have a couple of questions.;
1) does it matter what firmware you are on to flash any of these 2 firmwares?
2) if I wanted to RUU to complete 100% stock, I can use either of these?
3) Can I flash these if I am currently using a modified hboot?
4) will my deivce stay S-OFF after flashing either of these?
50 Will my HBOOT stay Unlocked after flashing either of these?
Thanks....

1)Firmware version depends. If you want the latest one and you are not current on firmware I would suggest flashing the hboot separately.
2) yes either will do. Either will also flash on a locked and s-on phone as well.
3)there's a good chance your hboot will get over-written with a stock one. Are you aware of what can happen if you ever try to s on using a modified boot?
4+5) these will not affect your unlock or s status.

my main concern was if I could use your RUU to flash my DNA. I could care less whether it overrides my current hboot, as long as it does not during the flashing process lock and s-on my device
thanks for your reply....
This will not make a connection to my Device. However, ADB and Fastboot works, but this RUU/FUU still gives an error....
Current setup:
Unlocked
S-Off
hboot 1.57
Stock (Rooted) 4.4.2/Sense 5.5 Rom

I have tried from the Android Homescreen, ADB, Fastboot, and from the RebootRUU downloader/installer. Neither of those work. I have also tried usb 2 and 3 ports. I have tried with and without usb debugging enabled. HTC Sync loads the the device without issues.

Thank you So Much to the person(s) that made this possible, I've been patiently waiting for this fix and it finally paid off - I can confirm that this 100% works - I had previously all but bricked my phone, it was Re-Locked and S-On along with Tampered - I could only get Hboot to come on and Fastboot. Now it has been completely restored to stock firmware - It still says RELOCKED when in hboot mode but I'm ok with that -
Android Version 4.4.2
HTC Sense Version 5.5
Software Number 4.09.605.1

no, it reboots everytime to the RUU Downloader/Installer on the phone but then gives that error after trying to send the first packet. It never gets past the "Updating 0 of 5" . As I posted. i am running stock rooted 4.4.2/Sense 5.5. I was just wanting to test this ruu out and give feed back.

When it gets to the ruu mode it starts a 60 second time out. Quickly unplug the phone and reconnect it to another port.

How long did you leave it sitting? Until it timed out? Also, open task manager and tell me how much free ram you have.

yes, until it timed out approximately 3-5mins. i tried what you recommended but it did not work. I have a custom built win 8 x64 with 16gb of ram. trust me, im not using even a 1/3 of that, lol

Try running the app in windows 7 compatibility mode and as admin.
You would be surprised what an x64 system can consume. To send the ruu over usb the system has to have enough free ram for the 1.x gig file to fit in the free ram.

says im using 11% of my installed ram i tried running as an admin previously. I tried Win7 Compat mode, still no progress. I guess the RUU is not meant to work for me lol
