So, I tried to root a friend's SGSII and when it boots the screen just stays there, stuck in the boot logo with the yellow triangle. I read it took some time to boot, but it has been like that too much. I dont know what to do, if I try to flash a rom with odin, it says fail and I dont know why, it never happened to me with my SGS1. I dont find any stock kernels and the stock roms download links are down. I don't want to let my friend down. Do you have any idea of what I could do?
Thanks in advance!!
1) This isn't urgent.
2) Find Hopper8's 'Odin troubleshooting' thread stickied in the General section, try as much of the stuff in that thread as you need to in order to get a successful flash because this is the only way you're fixing it.
Edit - Stock roms are available from Samfirmware, AndroidFirmwares.net or Samsung-Updates.com

You got bootloop.
Now download the latest firmware of your region from sammobile.com and fkash it with odin. For how to flash stock firmware via odin several guides are already available on xda. After that go to Philz kernel thread and flash the Cwm for root access.

Hi There, I've done a stupid thing.....I havn't had my phone long and the internet connection is slow, slower than my Motorola Defy. I posted asking for a solution and someone sugested I flash the modem to KG6 as this may improve the internet connecton. So I googled 'KG6 Modem xda' and found what I was looking for, downloaded it and flashed the modem using odin. The flashing was unsucessful....because it was for a SGS 4G (US version)....doh
I unplugged the phone but it wont reboot. Instead I have a phone symbol, a yellow triangel in the centre and a computer symbol on right of the screen. It doesnt get any further than this so I'm uncertain as to what I should flash.
I can enter download mode and the phone is recognised by odin so hopefully I can flash....but what? Is it just the correct modem file I need to flash or the uk firmware. I'm ok KE7 Kernal if this helps.
Thank you, your advice is appreciated
Official ROM's,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
Just flash any ROM with Odin as your device still can enter Download mode.
Regards.
Thank you so much, phone has rebooted and everything is fine, just need to root again.
Am I right in saying that if I flash a custom rom and decide to go back to stock rom I just follow the same procedure again?
Thanks again
Yep, yes the same procedure.
Glad to know the prob sorted.
Regards.

Yep, you're right. Getting the phone to successfully take a stock rom flash via Odin is the only way you're fixing it. How ? Search for Hopper8's 'Odin troubleshooting' thread. Try the stuff in the that thread. I'd be very surprised if you can't get it working normally doing that.
Edit - Doesn't matter which stock rom you use, that has nothing to do with the flash working/not. Any stock rom will do.
Hi I tried to root my phone using this method ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1504218 ) and it left my phone stuck on the reboot. I then tried to flash the stock kernel via odin, and when that didn't work I flashed cwm via odin and then a rogers kernel through cwm and it is still stuck on the rogers logo.......?
could someone help me......?

I see your post count and realize you cannot post in the development section yet. that should not however stop you from reading. maybe you have but you may not have read the whole thread. i know that may seem like a daunting task, it is for me. so what I o is go to the most recent post or last page and start reading backwards. that way I get the most up to date information even on an older thread as you are referring to.
if you did that you would have seen a post from AGOATTAMER.
http://rootgalaxynote.com/galaxy-note-i717-roms/how-to-root-att-galaxy-note-sgh-i717-icsgingerbreadeasiest-method/
this is also the method I used. believe me, if I can pull it off, anybody can.
more tips..............
make sure you have all the files you need
rehearse the process
I know it sounds crazy, but these phones aint cheap and if you mess it up, can be pretty screwed.
so what is more valuable???? your phone or acting crazy and talking to yourself for a few minutes.
if you can still get download mode, your good, no brick
good luck
You flashed an older incompatible kernel with a newer ROM, but I guess you know that now. Flash the stock ROM found here using odin.
http://www.hotfile.com/dl/213010140/75bf7e2/I717RUXMD1_I717RRWCMD1_RWC.zip.html
Go into recovery after install and do a factory reset. Then start over. Many have used the link that captemo has mentioned. There are newer versions of recovery than the one listed on that site but it will get you rooted. Look at this thread also. Since you are installing the stock ROM via odin you will not have to deal with the script mentioned here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2485336
Just flash twrp with Odin, don't reboot into android, not directly into recovery after the flash finishes...
In recovery wipe data/factory reset.
When you go to boot it'll see you're not rooted and ask if you want to.
The easiest method to root.

Good advice is always worth repeating.
Sent from my Big Ass Outlaw Phone.
ok i recently purchased a samsung s2 i9100p with a software issue in the hope of fixing it. i didnt understand at time of purchase that custom roms/kernals etc might have been loaded onto the phone and now im completely confused.
what i know about the device is when power button is pressed i get the black samsung s2 i9100 loading screen and no more
ive then read about how to enter recovery mode and the phone doesnt boot into it but will boot into download mode which reads the following
odin mode
Product Name: GT-i9100
Custom Binary: YES (8 counts)
Current Binary: Samsung Official
so i have no idea what versions of the roms, kernels etc i require as i dont know the current versions installed if any. And i have read about devices being rooted and unrooted which has left me confused in that aspect.
i did locate an official ROM file for i9100p with orange lock which is what i believe i need as the phone has orange logo on back cover. but when i get into odin ive tried both old and new versions the phone get to the NAND Write Start Stage and then Fails.
Anyone out there any advice as to what im doing wrong? it would be greatly appreciated
Search for Hopper8's 'Odin troubleshooting' thread (do an advanced search on his username), try the stuff in that thread. You should successfully be able to flash it.

Thanks for quick reply il have a look at that now and see if i can get any further with it
It's a great thread/pretty much 'the reference' for this sort of thing on here, I'd be surprised if you can't recover it/get a successful Odin flash done with the info in it.

thanks alot mate at least i have a reference of what i should be doing now
downloading the files for this step
"Another option for i9100
If you have an i9100, probably the best option to flash is to flash 4.1.2 JellyBean leak. Download it here. This is a 3-part firmware. It will wipe your device as it flashes, and in many cases this extra wipe while flashing contributes to a successful flash. To set this file up in Odin (as it is 3 parts): PDA = CODE_I9100XXLSJ.tar, PHONE = MODEM_I9100XXLS6.tar, and CSC = CSC_HOME_OXX_I9100OXXLS1.tar. As usual, do not tick 'repartition'. "
in the hope the multiple files will be more successful than just the PDA> ROM flash i was trying. will post and let you know how it goes
Yep, hopefully the 3 part wiping the device will remove whatever remnants of what was previously on the phone that are causing the phone not to boot normally.

ok an update on my problem left it in repair shop and they managed to get it to boot to recovery but when i try and reset/wipe i am presented with a fallen over android with red triangle, its still stuck on boot loop but at least now i can access both recovery and download mode.
i also purchased a usb jig to try reset the counter but it doesnt reset must be whatever firmware on the phone from what ive read. after doing a check imei.info it shows that the phone is still under warranty until feb 2014 but i know because its been tampered with they probably wouldn't look at it
any guidance/suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Hello,
This is my first post here. Just now I was trying to flash PhilZ Touch using Odin. While it's still in process, I accidently pulled the usb cable from my phone. I thought it was fine. So I removed my battery since at that time I was still at download mode. But when I tried to on my phone, it stucked at the image that I attached below. What should I do to fix it?
That's forced download mode - to fix, flash stock firmware with Odin - as you're already in download mode, you don't need to try & boot into it, just connect the phone to the PC via USB & off you go. Problems flashing ? Hopper8's 'Odin troubleshooting thread stickied in General has the info you need to get a successful flash.

Thank you for the reply sir. Can you explain it more detail? Is it just flashing the stock firmware with Odin will fix it? Or maybe there's some other steps that I need to do?
'...to fix, flash stock firmware with Odin...' (I won't be posting this a 3rd time), thread stickied near top of Q&A titled 'Flash stock firmware' has instructions.
Alright. I'll try it out. Right now, still downloading the stock firmware. Btw, I'm using I9100G so, are the steps still the same? Because what it says on the thread is

Yes. Just make sure you download I9100G firmware, he's wrong - usage of Odin is exactly the same for all I9100 variants - extract .tar.md5 file from zip you DL from Samfirmware, junk .dll file in the zip, put .tar.md5 file in PDA section of Odin, click start.
I've already given you more than enough info that you could easily have found by searching, so I won't be posting to this thread again. Up to you to fix it now...
