Hi all,
which system app or file(s) contains descriptions of permissions, which are loaded when installing app or displayed in Settings/Applications?
My ROM displays these permissions incorrectly and I need to fix it.
Thanks!
So, I find out that all permissions are stored in framework-res.apk file, but I still don't know, why are they displayed incorrectly in Settings, in package-installer, Gplay etc.
There is probably some bug in some file, maybe in framework-res, but where?
I could provide all information you need to solve this problem (tell what you need to know). Is there someone, who can help me, please? Thx
EDIT: Is this XDA? Because it seems nobody can/wants to help me...

I would also be very interested in knowing this. I just loaded CM9, and want to run chrome but can't. I can't help but think it is finding a reference to Gingerbread in my build.prop file (it is still listed in two places). I tried making these changes myself to something else, but it didn't help - likely because I didn't know what the proper parameters were for the lines I changed.
I'm searching for a line by line description for the build.prop file too... if I find it, I'll repost. I'm thinking it has to be out there somewhere...
HELP!!
When i was running the RGUI ROM (JB) there was a fix zip to use in CWM to fix the 'Media' drain in the battery.
This worked wonders! So i just tried to flash it to my device again, except now i'm running the 'Anonorom' ROM.
It worked. Or flashed without error anyway.
The problem now is that since the reboot, the 'Fonts' have failed to be picked by my apps.
This is most noticibly with UCCW. The widget i created for the homescreen uses about 5 different fonts and its defaulted to 1 default font.
When i open the widget to change the fonts back, it tells me theres only 1 font available; "Default" and that if i want to add more then to put them in 'sd:\fonts'.
I've gone back to my file manager and checked this location and there are LOADS of fonts in there still, so its not as if they've been deleted.
Clearly this is the work of the fix_mediaDrain.zip, which i now obviously regret flashing. And WHO KNOWS what other errors i will now encounter!
So my question is, other than reflashing the ROM (which would be a pain because i've also flashed the JKay framework and other things like that, and amanaged to get the phone to my liking) does ANYONE know of a kind of UNDO fix for this fix_mediaDrain.zip that i can flash.
Obviously i dont even know if it exists,im just praying, but if anyone has any ideas i would greatly appriociate it.
I'm guessing the media scanner has been stopped, or a .nomedia file has been placed in the fonts folder.
So first check if there is a file called .nomedia in this folder and if so, delete it and reboot.
If not, then get rescan media root from play and try to enable media scanner and reboot.
Report back please

Firstly, thanks for your reply..
I've checked the location for a '.nomedia' file and no it does not exist.
I even checked 'Root Explorer' incase the file was hiddenin my regular file manager. Still nothing.
I downloaded the 'Rescan Media Root' app, which looked successful, but didnt fix my issue.
I tried a different app called 'media Rescan Lite', but that too did not fix the issue.
It's not looking good for me is it?
well the obvious path note really is to post in the Rom thread/contact dev and find out what the file does and how it can be reverted, let me know if you don't have enough posts and I will post link to your dilemma for you

I have contacted the developer of this fix to ask what it does exactly and if theres any way to undo the fix.
I have also added a post to the thread where this fix was first suggested to me in the past, incase anyone there might be able to shed some light on it..
I will post my findings once i ear back from anyone incase anyone else ever has this problem...
Thanks again.
SOLVED!!
I have managed to fix this problem!
This is going to sound RIDICULOUS but.....
I renamed the 'Fonts' folder on my sdcard slightly.
I say 'renamed', but all i did was make the filename all lowercase, creating "fonts" instead of "Fonts".
Then, IMMEDIATLY, the fonts on my widget wer back to normal..!
How very odd that this was changed by the 'fix_mediaDrain.zip' throgh CWM + reboot.

Hi everyone, I always solved my problems just by reading other threads and it solved, but now I'm stuck and can't find any thread to solve the problem.
Here it is, my problem:
I wanted to translate the Settings.apk into my language, and decompiled/recompiled it, then copied it to my Tab, and replaced the Settings.apk in system/app with the new one by Root Explorer, but the problem is that when I reboot my GT P1010 I cannot find the Settings icon in Applications
I don't know where the problem is...
Any Help ...?

Hi! I just wanted to say that I solved the problem, and now I can edit my Settings.apk how I want.
After many searching in google and inside this forum, and many many trying I found a way how to compile my apk and then being recognized by my device.
1) I just compile my edited apk
2) and then open the new_apk aside with the original_apk by 7zip
3) then Drag&Drop the resources.arsc from the new_apk to the original_apk close it,
4) and then push original_apk with adb into my device,
5) copy to /system/app/ by Root Explorer, Fix Permissions and Reboot.
That's all, if someone had this problem here is the solution...
:good: Have nice developing...
Still not working
Tried every possible way
I wonder, if anyone has found the application of Cloud Print (official) without icon in the launcher (non-icon).
I tried descompilarla and compile, and I have not succeeded.
I tried to decompile, fix it and compile it, but I have not succeeded
I would greatly appreciate if anyone could help me.

What do you mean you have not succeeded?
Decompile the apk file, remove the icon and replace a transparent icon with the same name and if possible in same format as the older icon.
Also in android manifest file, look whether the icon is given with an extension. If so, change it to the icon's format that you have placed.
Now again recompile the apk file and also sign the apk.
There are lots of tutorials on both Google and XDA that will help you to learn decompiling and recompiling an apk.
Press thanks if I have helped you.
I am a newbie. Anyone can correct me if I am wrong.
Hi.
I need help with editing an odex file. I found out there is a bug in it, that when you enter to a chat on WhatsApp, it jumps to the top of the conversation, instead of focusing on the last received message. I don't know where is the bug in the odex file, but I know for sure it's somewhere there.
If someone is experienced with those files and with modifying smali, and can help me fix this bug I will pay him. Please contact me.
