Some Questions - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently rooted my Blu Advance phone using framaroot and installed supersu, tutanium backup, etc.
Ive seen on some websites to install cyanogen mod. Can someone tell me like the pros and cons of installing it? Are all apps compatible with it?
Another q, my phone has android 4.2.2...if an update is released, will irlt unroot my phone?
Thanks in advance

Well, since you rooted already, there's not really anything to lose by installing CM. You've already voided the warranty so you got nothing to lose! CM has lots of nice additional features. I have it on my Hisense Sero 7 Pro. I haven't seen any apps that are incompatible with it so I would say go for out!
In regards to your other question, It probably will not unroot your phone unless it is a very large update that changes system things like the binary. So I would say no.

I downloaded the cyanogen installer and ran it but it says the device is unsupported.
Is there anything else you recommend me to istall? I already have the big apps like greenify, titanium backup, and supersu

[Q] lost root after virusrom install?

Hey guys I was wondering if anyone can answer this for me.
I'm rooted or at least was and installed virusrom and drod kernel and now when
I go Into titanium to back things up it says I don't have root access. I'm using the senseless Rom as well. Is this a superuser issue or a bug in virus?
Thanks for your help in advance.

search for SU fix in the dev forum and apply that
bottom of first post is the link for download http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=886999
Are you sure that works with the senseless Rom? Thanks for the reply by the way.
Also just tried that anyway but titanium still says no root access. Anyone?

Click on problems on the bottom of titanium and let it download busybox. That should solve your problem.
thanks a lot! i did that already before the new rom... do i have to reinstall busybox after any wipe and new rom?
Generally speaking you probably will. Titanium can be picky about busybox sometimes and there is no assurance that the version installed with the new rom will work with it. Re-installing it from inside titanium seems to solve 95% of problems.

Installing apps then rooting

I have been installing a few apps and now im questioning if I am going to have to install these apps again after I root this phone? Those of you that have rooted your phone, have you have to install your apps again?
Thanks!
No.
From your question it would appear you are new to rooting. It does not mess with the installed apps; it provides more access to the OS so you can do more.

Rooting will only give root access, but changing the kernel will force you to format your phone?

Which rom did you use? You have to make sure it's stock and not stripped.

U can root ur phone and not have to flash a Rom. I rooted and used tb to remove a bunch of apps so it's kinda like I'm running a custom Rom lol

will i get official updates after rooting?

I plan to buy s3 but i have a question in mind. I dont like to install custom roms and only need to root the s3 in order to install Titanium Backup Pro.So if i root it and not install custom recovery and no other mod just superuser and titanium backup pro will i be able to get fota update. And also can i easily unroot it and go back to as it was before?
Don't root, BUY the games, get updates.
Cracked games are bad mkay?

Edited due to Op editing his post, which originally stated he wanted to know if this would affect his use of cracked games!

Using cf.root you can keep the phone as close to stock as possible and have root, you can still get official updates through KIES but OTA downloaded updates seem to be giving ppl problems.
To slaphead20 and burden010 just cause the guy doesnt want custom roms doesnt mean hes cracking games or doing anything illegal. I only rooted my stock rom so I could fully use titanium backup and mybackup pro, plus custom roms arent that far from stock at the moment anyway so give the guy a break.
edit :- I see OP has edited his post maybe he did announce he was doing something wrong.

Thanks and im very sorry people. Will surely read the rules before posting.
If you have only a rooted stock Rom then you should be fine for receiving ota updates. Worst that might happen is you will loose root.

That ROM is very old, you should upgrade to EclipticRez or something newer (most JB based ROMs work well)... If you are stuck on that, my guess you will need to find an Xposed flashable ZIP that you can flash via recovery, or possibly try updating SuperSU/SuperUser (I don't remember what Hawknest uses) and try the install from the app.
Why do you need Xposed on a custom ROM, it is intended for stock ROMs?

I'm on eclipticrez v9 which is the latest I could find, some apps I use need xposed.
I updated supersu and root, but I think it's just the Rom.
Where might I find a flashable xposed?

Google... I haven't used Xposed in years, sorry, can't be of much help there, just make sure it's specifically for ICS, and you can only use certain modules compatible with ICS, not all will work.
