Why do the images for the contacts show up as dots? Is there any way to get rid of the dots?
Did you set any photos for your contacts or you just want to get rid of the default avatar? If the second thing, I am not sure if it's possible with the stock dialer.

Because Sense doesn't show full resolution contact photos when syncing from Google. You have to re-add the photos again. Or, go to CyanogenMod to get your full resolution contact photos from when you first synced them.

Anyone know how to add or change the picture icon in the messages application? My contact's pictures show fine but the "me" picture doesn't show anything...
Hi!
You can edit your details in the People application.
Annoying that it doesn't pick up your photo from Google. Well that isn't strictly true, when I look in my contacts it has an entry for me which shows my google photo but it doesn't use it for "me"
Did anyone find a fix for this?
Running CM7
Thanks,
It blows me away that I'm asking this question still in 2011! I had the issue on WM a few years back and figured Google would allow their contact pics to be bigger by now.
After searching for quite a while, it looks to me like the only solution is to not sync your contacts with GMail. Has anyone found a way around this? 96x96 makes for a horrible looking full-screen caller-id.
depends, if they are on facebook syncmypix works. had some luck with motoblurs syncing.
Possible solution
Theres an app in the market place called Full Screen Caller ID FREE which can take over the screen when calls come in. It allows you to specify larger pics for contacts. It still uses the Motoblur Dialer for basic functionality like in call stuff.

Thanks for the idea...
...tried it...started off well...took a while and added all my contact pics in...but it chooses a small portion of each picture to use as the default picture in the rest of the phone. Its usually not even a recognizable part of the picture. So now I have random sections for all my contacts....and only full pictures for when I'm receiving a call. Which isn't that important to me. I like to use the pictures when dialing. It would seem with today's screen resolutions Google would have an option to leave pictures full size on phone, and only shrink them down for web use.

you can disable the picture option for your contacts so that it uses the original small-size photo you had for that contact before. got o settings -> miscellaneous and uncheck "Overwrite android picture"
i like the app, only complaint is i'm not a big fan of the answer screen layout.

Just to be sure before I change anything...are you talking about settings inside 'Full-Screen CallerID' app istself, or a Google setting on the GMail side of things?
EDIT: Found setting in app...thanks.
Can anyone tell me where the default contact photo is stored? I'm referring to the different color smiley face guy pictures that come up as default contact photos if you don't have one already saved to a contact.

Hey,
I have a great picture I took and I set it as my wallpaper about a year ago. I accidentally deleted it from my gallery and now the only place I have the picture is on my background walllpaper. Can somebody please tell me how to export this picture because I want to factory reset my phone but do not want to lose this picture.
Thank you very much for reading,
Rambo
UPDATE: I used a app called wallpaper saver available for free on the Google store. It saved my wallpaper.

Try screen shot lol move all icons and apps off your main home screen and screen shot it, and take the picture and edit it. and also if your phone is backed up through your google account most of the time if you do a factory reset your settings will be restored once you log in to your account and that includes your wallpaper.
Hi I've noticed that some contacts have a large contact picture that fills up the top half of the screen but others will only display a smaller picture in the middle.
Is there a way to get all my contacts to display a larger image on the default call screen?
Contacts are synced using Haxsync so all of them have HQ photos.
Thanks in advance.

I noticed that if I add a picture to a contact directly from the device, the image appears at full screen in the dialer but if the image coming from Google a small square appears
How can I change the setting that all images Will display at all the screen?

I believe that this is because the contact picture is converted to a low resolution when backed up to Google, even though the original is high resolution. That's why the picture is small when you restore from Google.
It is true, same happened for me. When pictures got downloaded from google at first, they were small, then synced with facebook and they are full size.

I'm using stock Xperia for Facebook app, it just synced like that. But you need to have contacts with exact same name. When I had Galaxy S3 with AOSP I used app named SyncMe which worked very well after turning off bell and whistles like in call UI and such. I can recommend it.
