Hi people please advice me the best kernel and rom combination for best battery life. i have tried cm7 6.5.8 with goldenleaf but it drains battery.. 7 hours of idle drained 8% wifi on data off auto sync off.. i have wiped battery stat and cache still no luck..
please let me know which rom and version and kernel u use and how much of battery life you get from the combination you use
i dont play game so i just need best battery life and lagfree UI
thanks
edit : also could anyone tell me the difference (pros and cons) of old and new baseband? i know new baseband works with official ginger and old works with cm7 and other AOSP builds but i couldnt find answer the advantage of using new baseband.
thanks
For maximum battery:
devoid. #froyo-final + last franco.kernel (gbs) or Goldenleaf

Of course also this # void, but for me (and most users including franciscofranco) devoid rom is the best there so far for the O1
Well, the only way is for testing fences and judge yourself
EDIT: Another ROM I wanted to be good in the performance of the battery, it would be Phoenix by andy + latest version of franciscofranco kernel (.35), which despite the bugs that still has a very amazing ROM
As far as i know new baseband=bettersignal=lesser battery drain(since network search difficulty is less)

If you want the best rom, try flashing all the roms and decide yourself! How simple is that.

Clear your battery stats in recovery, and use Battery Calibration app by NéMa on the market.
Use Juice Defender?
Yeah I'm having this problem with the official stable release of cm7 too. never had this trouble with cm9, 10 or 10.1 (unnofficial ofc) or with custom cm7 roms. Perhaps try another kernel? I am currently looking for one and will post an update when I find an optimal solution.
Cm9 provides the best overall xperience for P500
Press Thanks

1.Titanium Backup
2.Reset in recovery
3.Batch restore from TB
4.If doesnt fix install juice defender
I recently updated to ICS on my Live with Walkman. I also rooted it and installed CWM. But lately i have been noticing the battery drains faster, than it did with gingerbread. Anyone else is having this problem? I'm using Apex Launcher too. But I try using stock and its the same problem.

Taskkillers make the drain worse.
And yes, drain is a bit higher because ICS is a lot heavier so it needs more juice to work.
dont know if compared to gb because i've only use stock gb for a hour or so but compared to other ics rom like miui, minicm and cm9, stock ics combined with kamarush kernel gave me awesome battery life. 0.5-1% drain per hour on idle.

This is somehting I have experienced personally, but I haven't found out why it happens yet. It's a little OT, but could you explain in brief why killing an app often reduces available RAM?

the app has to start all the stuff it does all over again because it was unexpectedly closed. the unused app is closing itself anyway just when it isn't needed anymore and when it fully performed the task.
longer explanation if you're not afraid to READ [oh noes!]:

If you close an specific app, then some amount of RAM is freed. Temporarily. Certain apps start again, because they are needed by the system. The startup of the app requires more power than closing, finally you are losing more power.
Doesn't matter what electronic device you have, starting it up uses most energy. Your computer, phone, lamps, microwave - everything!

can you tell me wich rom is better? i have never installed one, but im thinking about it, can you please tell me more about this stuff? i mean if you can tell me or give the link to know how to install kamarush kernel and another rom, like CM9 (with ICS?
no battery drain for me
and im using it like this
1-1,5hour listening to music
30min 3g
1-1,5hour wi-fi
1hour playing game
holding for 12 hours and still on 30% battery
mine was good
i use 2x batt n android booster from market
I use my lww ics the same way like on gb. On gb I was on stock rom with rage kernel 2.8. Now I am on ics with extended stock rom kernel from expeacer.
Through my feelings I would say battery live is the same as on gb. For exactly clearing it out we must compare with the help of a monitoring software.
So my conclusion is no change in battery life between ics and gb.

Updated yesterday and I've noticed my battery is draining faster after a day of normal use. But i think that is mainly to the fact that i haven't figured out how to root ICS and still have all that bloatware running around sucking my battery!

360 Launcher? I used GO Launcher when I was on GB, but I found a better launcher for ICS. It's Apex Launcher, you can search for it on Google Play Store, I really recommend this launcher, its great!
Iam currently using custom rom.
Iam using Gorgoid-1.8...and before it (Anonorom 24..last one)
And my phone goes really hot
Without even overclocking or undervolting or anything...
Please tell me is it a kernel proplem ?(Boffela-2.9)
And what is the Differnce between
Jelly.bean and ice cream sandwich
I found 4.1.1 got no proplems
Just want to know if 4.1.1. Is better so i can change to if the thermal proplem remains...
And thank you all

well i think the heat problem is just in the device itself.. it's due to constant usage or something could be running in the background.. perhaps your mobile data or wifi?:silly:
Will my mobile data is running 24 hour
Since 4 monthes ago
But i never noticed any heat proplems..
But now i can feel heat + battery drain
My mobile used to be active like for 12 hours
Now with no gaming or music or.anything my battery drains only whats app.+ facebook

Hello,
did you try a Fullwipe with Philz Touch Recovery? Just to make sure your device itself is not faulty, did you also experience this problem with a 100% Stock ROM ? I´ve never experienced any heat problems with Boeffla or Yank kernel ( only when using the Siyah kernel a long time ago ).
I can suggest you to try a fullwipe and install the ROM again. Just in case you have installed some malicous Apps, you can also try to track them down with BBS ?

As others already suggested, install a CPU monitoring App that will show what App uses your CPU the most. A lot of heat is always a indication that something is using a lot of your CPU Power. I had a problem like that also and I could easily fix it by looking at what uses my CPU.
