I got a rooted device installed clockworkmod recovery. just wondering if I do a factory reset in clockworkmod recovery will i loose root? Im using super su. If i do a factory reset from the phone when it's on super su and root still remain. Thats what i want.
You should stay rooted since a factory reset only touches /data. Rooting again shouldn't be hard anyway.

Hi.
I'm on .21 rooted version (i've restored root by voodoo root keeper) but without CWM recovery and with locked bootloader.
Now, i want to do a factory reset. Then, can i be able to restore my root by voodoo root keeper??
thanks!
no one?
Factory reset is only a data wipe - there is no spare /system backup which might get restored. You should not loose root.
If I were to reset my tab using recovery menu restore factory default, would the root go? Just checking to confirm
Exactly
No, if you have custom prerooted fw, then root will remain.
Hi everyone,
I'm quite worried here, even tho I still have download mode n recovery. I'm not going to go into too much detail but here is the basics of it:
SGS3 i9300 (UK VOD)
I was running Paranoid Android before it all started to go wrong.
Its worth noting that at this point I did lots of transfers to both sdcards to prep for new rom, and the cable kept disconnecting, sometimes during a copy.
I tried to change to PsychoROM, it failed and had a semi brick. - yes i did full wipe in recovery n w.e.
I then tried other ROM's and during the process I noticed that when ever it tried to perform a wipe of data it would reboot recovery.
I managed to access wiping /data and /system using recovery adb shell su wipe .... (su was required to view the damnd partition)
then flash stock and cf root. still not booting...
flashed omega over the top and it booted.
-------------- several days pass, there were some mounting errors / 0 bytes files that worried me about the internal sdcard
I then used goomanager to flash tmrp (or w.e. its called) and my phone went into boot loop. I tried factory reset but IT STILL DOESNT WORK!
so again tried recovery adb shell su wipe, and tried to install omega again.... no joy, at all...
Why can't recovery wipe data???
could my internal memory be damaged?
what can I do to get it working???
I have download mode and recovery (it doesn't work right tho)
HELP!
Use Odin to flash a stock firmware, boot recovery, do a factory reset and start from scratch, using cf root to get root and recovery

NO. my i9100 is same. but i tried many ways it still doesn,t work. may be flash or HDD die
Pretty much a noob, and really don't know enough to be dangerous yet. I have a question about root and the stock factory reset, not TWRP.
What happens if you use the stock factory reset if you are rooted?
If you choose to wipe your internal memory using TWRP, what all does it delete? Everything? System folders?
In TWRP it wipes everything. I made the mistake of wiping internal memory before on my G2 and pooped bricks, because i couldn't get back into my rom and i could not flash anything because it was all gone. I had to reflash the stock ROM with LGflashtool. I would not touch internal memory if I were you. If you are stock recovery and rooted and factory reset you stay rooted but it takes you back to as you opening it up out the box but usually root sticks and you go thru setup as usual.
So I was wondering...
Today once again I forgot to flash SuperSU after flashing new kernel and I'm left without root. While rooted I was using an app to restart into recovery and it was fine.
As we all know, when you boot into recovery on LG G5 by button combination, you're asked to to wipe everything. My question is, is there any method to boot into recovery without wiping? Without root?

If you still actually have TWRP installed, pressing yes when it asks to factory reset / wipe (using the button combo) will not wipe anything, it will just boot into TWRP. Just be sure TWRP is actually installed still, as if TWRP is not installed, then it would wipe your phone saying yes. To check, you can always boot into phone and use
Code:
adb reboot recovery
I'm using TWRP 3.1.0.0, but as far as I remember it wipes anyway. It was on the older TWRP version though. And unfortunately adb command doesn't work for some reason, adb reboot bootloader works.
Anyway, worth trying, I have to do it anyway sooner or later. It would be nice if it wouldn't wipe my apps.
Same problem here. I ran into a bootloop and need to flash the Magisk uninstaller. How to boot into TWRP? With the key combination it always asks me to wipe my phone?!
SOLVED. Just select Yes. This is only a leftover of the Stock recovery. Nothing will be wiped if you already have TWRP installed.
