[MOD][APP][DeOdex] 100% Completly Silent Stock Camera [MJ4] [NAB] [NABD] [NC5D] - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 3

I just made a completely silent stock camera. Even if you have added the sound menu to your feature.xml you still have menu sounds on the camera. So I removed all the baked in camera sounds including focus, shutter, menu, timer and video record sounds. In all its a total of 29 removed sounds.
Instructions: Make a backup of your existing (SamsungCamera2.akp) file. Copy the modded camera file to your system/app folder. Overwrite existing camera. Then set permissions to: rw r r. Then reboot.
If you find that you still have shutter or any other camera sounds you are gonna have to go to your system/media/audio/ui and you can either delete or rename the .ogg to (.oggtemp) files related to camera. Be sure to back up that whole folder on your external sd. You may only need to do just the shutter.ogg file. I always delete all files related to camera. Then reboot.

Any harm in trying this on 4.3? Of course I'll have a backup just in case. ...thanks for the hard work!

[MOD] Remove home button lag associated with voice command app

Hi hope this is in the right section
I found a post in the GSII International forum that removes the lag that you experience when hitting the home button on our phones.
This is due to the voice command app. This fix removes the voice command double tap option, you will have to access it from the app drawer now but it removes the lag associated with the app launching when hitting the home button.
This has only been tested and confirmed working on Cog X2 Beta-3 and Cog X2 Beta-4. Does not work on odexed stock as well as Perception. YMMV
As usual flash at your own risk, I am not responsible for your phone or problems it has from this modification.
Here is a CWM package courtesy of jivy26 to make flashing a little easier!

Just download the file at the bottom of this post and push it to system/framework. This can be done via Root Explorer by copying and replacing the file in the system/framework folder or with an adb push.

This can also be done with adb push as follows:
adb push android.policy.jar system/framework
Yes it really makes a difference in my opinion. The lag was just ridiculous not to mention I would usually hit the home key a few times (very impatient hahaha) opening the voice command app which I never use.

No odex should be required as it should contain classes.dex.
odexed systems are allowed to have deodexed apps. If you look closely, framework-res.apk and the com.htc.resources.apk both are not odexed
Try this one. I extracted it from CM9 nightly for Galaxy S 2 and it's working on my ICS rom. Just install like a normal apk

FM Radio Help.

Has anyone been able to get the FM radio to work on anything other than the stock setup? I have flashed K3, Sacs, and Xnote and have not been able to figure out how to get use of the FM radio back. I haven't flashed every rom you mentioned, so I can't say with 100% certainty, but it's probably due to a mod in those custom roms, to increase sound volume. The increased volume hack, breaks the FM radio.

I'm guessing you don't use the volume m mod if you want a radio. The loudness and audio quality from viper4android doesn't need an extra kick. It's already got it. Anything on top of it is just distortion.

The problem that I have found is that most roms already have the volume boost mod baked in causing FM not to work. I was able to get FM working again by taking the revert back to stock from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2470890 and replacing the \system\crc with the \system\crc from the stock image. So far it has worked with K3 and Xnote roms with the beastmode kernel. So now my FM works!

The first thing you need to do is flash the file listed below to return to stock volume.
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23156208500212156
Info on this is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2470890
Flash file from recovery. Then use a browser with root (I use root browser) and navigate to your \system\csc folder and delete or rename. Replace with the csc in this zip (this is the csc from stock image). https://mega.co.nz/#!D8YEia7I!eHjNNgn5PXlWVgLzrAl2vmcqpjWVLTn1I8e-7vzKpCA
After you replace the csc folder make sure that permissions are correct on all files and folders under the csc folder. If permissions are not correct this will not work.
All folders must have rwxr-xr-x (0755) and all files must have rw-r-r-- (0644).
So far this method has worked to enable the FM radio for me on K3, SACS, and Xnote roms. Should work on any rom that has the volume mod baked in that causes FM to stop working. If you want increased volume I recommend Viper4Android instead of the volume mods.
I can not for the life of me figure this out. I went back to unrooted stock official NAB, and still no FM radio. I click the play button to turn on the FM receiver in NextRadio and the circle spins for a while then just cuts back to the play button without actually starting the tuner. Everything was wiped and /data was even formatted fresh.

Did you do what I listed above? First flash the return to stock volume then replace your csc with the one linked. Make sure your permissions on each file and folder is correct or it will not work.
Not sure why going back to stock wouldn't work.

S4 rotation not working, Samsung app suspected to be the cause.

I have unistalled some Samsung apps on 4.4.2 kk touchwiz and some other things, I think it might be a app that isn't letting it rotate using the sensor. Any suggestions?

Apps shouldn't make a difference. Check in settings to see if screen rotation is enabled. There should also be a quick toggle in the drop-down menu. Truthfully in the future, instead of on installing if you use Titanium Backup to freeze the apps then if something like this happens you can unfreeze them. Freezing is a good way to test if on installing an app would make the system run differently.

Shaf pretty much nailed it. Always freeze first to see if you'll have any I'll effects.. Run it like that for a week or two and if all goes well still you can probably uninstall. Make a backup anyways tho.

Sweet. Did you just replace the sounds and it worked or do you need to do anything special. Oh yeah. And what folders are they in.
Nope just replaced them renamed the originals just put .bak at the end and stored them in a new folder. The sound are in system root/system/media/audio/ui
