nice share thanxxx !!
a great alternative to whatsapp
It's great when it's working but for some reason for me it doesn't work when it's sleeping and there's no Wi-Fi available - notifications don't pop up - it doesn't update messages. I need to wake phone and launch the app to check them. Anyone has the same problem?
I used to have problem connecting to Telegram, while Whatsapp runs fine. But it is better now.
I like how it "challenge" Whatsapp with identical gui & improved privacy.
Cannot say much tho, 'cause I only have 2 people from my phonebook connected to Telegram.

Hello guys,
I am currently using CyanogenMod-7.1.0-RC1-Cooper-KANG by Grif_07.
The most important thing missing in this great ROM is "grouping" contacts!
I am a text geek and I send around 100+ SMS daily to my friend circle. I foreword SMS to my friends which I group according to my convenience. I was doing this with my Gingerbread unrooted SGA. But now I have rooted my phone and installed most amazing ROM but it's lagging this extremely important basic feature. I did search and found that CaynogenMod officially not having this feature and can't found any patch for this. I used GO SMS pro but failed to create any group. It shows group tab but not allowing me to add any contact to the groups. I also used Handcent sms app. It is allowing me to creat group but after creating a group it do not allow editing group. So all we have to rebuild the group which is pathetic.
So is there any solution to my problem? Any app or patch to enable grouping feature to send group sms?
Waiting for your reply,
Regards,
Adwait
Hi
I have noticed that with Greenify hibernating WhatsApp, contacts calling my phone via the new WhatsApp call service never rings. On their side, it just rings and rings and I never answer. On my side though, nothing happens which is why I never answer the call. If I open WhatsApp, then the missed calls notifications from WhatsApp.
It would seem that Greenify can't intercept the incoming WhatsApp calls and wake-up the hibernated WhatsApp to accept the calls.
Can anybody confirm this?
Thanks
Whatsapp, Facebook etc use all kinds of circumventions to go around standard android behaviour. Greenify expects standard android behaviour and is made keeping that in mind.
In addition, for every update to these apps, there are some new issues. No Dev can keep abreast of such issues.
So if you experience problems, ungreenify Whatsapp.
Yes, I have determined that I must un-greenify WhatsApp to receive WhatsApp calls.
Hopefully the developer can have a look into it
Have exactly same problem here.
I hope there will be a quick fix

Not all push functionalities are backed by GCM. See more explanation on the sticky post for GCM push.

Dear mate,
For explanation about problem, if its helps;
Using Greenify donation with xposed, rooted and all experimental page is checked.
Never had issue with whatsapp messages, everything was fine and still fine.
Only problem is whatsapp call feature like mentioned here, it dosent wake up phone and you get missed call only when you manually open whatsapp.
For try, i degreenified whatsapp (removed from list inside greenify) and send a message from it for be sure its started manually.
Still when screen off problem continues...
Thanks for your support in advance.
Have you tried changing the notification settings in Whatsapp?

Thanx in advance
best regards
Miki
Hy,
I have the same problem, but when sometimes changes from wifi to 3g get some notifications.
I think that after the update failed to give notifications
also like to correct this problem
Thanx in advance
best regards
POPkiller
Visual notifications works on my Aquarius, audio notifications only with SMS, Telegram don't
I have the same problem with the notifications from Telegram
Sound notifications for Telegram will be in 15.04 image from what I heard and that one should be coming in some weeks presumably. That image should have a lot of improvements
Telegram notifications had a bug with ssl certs and actually is solved. And yes, notifications are slow, very slow, needs improvements.
Today telegram notifications start to appear... still very slow yes...so if someone send message to me i got notification after couple of minutes... But someone is working on improvement and thats good thing.
Is there anywhere official ubuntu phone forum ? Where can we read stuff about software relases ?
Best regards
Miki

One my side, never got any notifications from GMAIL .
Telegram works
I've lately worked on some improvements for Gmail notifications which made them working for me. Even though they have been merged, they haven't landed in the images yet.
Would somebody mind posting their "~/.cache/upstart/account-polld.log*" files so that I can check whether you run into the same errors?
I will try to do so, even if finally it seems to work better since some days ... don't know why
Gmail notification doesn't work for me (Ubuntu Phone Aquaris E4.5). Following nikwen post, here some parts of ~/.cache/upstart/account-polld.log*" files

using ping from terminal, accounts.google.com is reachable.
Also tried to disable an enable again notification.
Thank you in advance
@fly3836 Yes, that's exactly the bug I fixed.
The code is in vivid now and as the stable branch will be based on that soon, you should have working Gmail notification within the next two months. Or you switch to devel-proposed to get that working now.

Is the stable branch already based on vivid?

no, not yet
@jonny-boy They are testing vivid-based builds now.
They said the earliest possible date for vivid-based builds would be in the middle of next week.

Hmm I just updated to OTA 5, but I don't get notifications for gmail. I have the Meizu phone. Thought that notifications would work now ...
@jonny-boy Check out my reply on your other thread.

Ok... I'm desperate. I hope someone can fix my issue. I don't receive ANY push notifications from certain messaging/texting apps... Like for instance: Hangouts. Also, I've just installed discord (voice and messaging app) , and nothing. Which confused me even more because it's only ever just been a hangouts/google problem. They only work if I open the app.. Then it just appears as normal, but what's the point of that? I've noticed this only happens for chat apps. Also that doesn't work: AndChat (irc app)
I'm assuming this only applies to messaging/texting apps becsuse every other app works fine.
So I finally started trying to figure this out because it's really bugging me, so I download the app push notification tester (which failed) as well as a app named PNF... Which relayed this information: received: com.google.android.talk CANCELLED / discord.com CANCELLED when I've had someone send me a message on any of these apps.
Also of note: I've tried many texting apps and practically none worked except for kik and steam which I did receive push notifications for properly.
Anyway... I'm lost and I hope someone can help me with this issue. Otherwise, my device works perfectly.
I'm running rooted fire hd 6 dev preview 5.1 and all correct versions of apps like Google play services and any others as far as I know.
Thanks and pleeease help
P. S. I just noticed chrome beta is saying CANCELLED as well for whatever reason.
I've been using Skype for ages, but recently it does its jobs poorly.
A lot of time I receive notifications late, it does not ring, and I completely stopped getting any new messages in one of my group chats, which led me to miscommunicate and fallback to Facebook Messenger. That's just to name the recent issues.
I am looking for a descent widely used replacement, that people would consider reliable. I can really type my emojis by hand. Any suggestions?
WhatsApp
Most of ppl I know use Viber. it's more pollished app, but development for win10mobile is stopped, there is no black mode for viber so it will drain more of battery, so use WhatsApp .
