How to backup merged or connected contacts? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I have merged my contacts and numbers with facebook and hexsync app to have best quality photos and contacts in best shape. After backing up the contacts and flashing new rom i lost all the connected contacts and have again three different contacts facebook photo and email, phone contact and hexsync contact of the same person three times again
Is there any way how to really backup merged contacts like this?

You can use gmail to merge android contacts. Yes, gmail. No mistake here See this guide - http://smallbusiness.chron.com/delete-duplicates-gmail-contacts-52402.html

What I was asking was not duplicate contacts but how to back-up contacts which I have merged in my mobile phone. One contact is for example connected now with google+, hexsync, facebook and with google contact.... So how to backup these connections so I can have it there after factory reset?
Again example one of my contact share information/is merged with these services:
facebook (photo and real name, email address etc)
hexsync (hd photo)
google+ (work number and some other info)
google email account (actual phone number and nickname)
So one contact is connected into one multiple services information hub in my contact list on my phone so how can I backup this?

Anyone?

[Q] How to remove groups from Phonebook

I have a question about removing group from the phonebok that were already removed bij an app.
This is what happened:
I installed Contacts GroupU in order to give a lot of contacts the same ringtone.
Because I ran into some problems showing the groups in my phonebook I deleted them.
Now that I figured out how to show contacts in a group in my phonebook I noticed that the old groups are still listed under the Display Groups option in the phonebook. (Sync Groups)
I've installed 3 different group tools, but none of them shows the previously remov group.
Anyone who can tell me how to remove those groups from the list?
I also had some groups that were linked to Gmail, but after deletion there still in the list to.
Even though I do not see them in Gmail.
So I have the same prolem there.
Backup your contacts first. Then og in your gmail account with PC. Delete all contacts in gmail contacts account. Restore your contacts previously backuped.create your contact group again. Sync with gmail.. Done.

Thanks, that will fix my Gmail groups.
But I also have a few double entries under the Phone Contacts.
Any thoughts on how to delete those.
I've deleted them with Contacts GroupU but they are still visible under View Contacts menu - Display Contacts - Phone Contact.
Try make setting don,t auto sync. Actually I hate this auto sync feature too.
And in view contact just tick phone contact only. So changes we make in phone will sync to gmail contact. Not gmail to phone contacts

It is in View Contacts - Phone Contacts that I have double group entries.
I am not able to delete those double entries.
It looks like the apps I used didn't delete the groups properly.
So now I would like to know how to delete those entries.

[Q] Advice Syncing Contacts for Multiple Accounts

Hi
I regularly use several email accounts, one on Hotmail, one on Gmail and one via a work Exchange. Plus I have my phone contacts.
I have set them all up on the Samsung Accounts with my choice of Contacts and mail etc sync settings. But I am a little frustrated because:
When in the phone dialer it shows many email only contacts.
I can't work out where to tell it to put new contacts by default.
Although I can laboriously select and manage more than one contact entry as one, it does not seem to copy the settings between them
There is no clear way of merging the contacts and having the combined settings copied back to the original sources (e.g. if I have one entry with a phone number and another with an email, I can't merge them physically so the missing values are copied back to the source systems.)
I am seeking any suggestions as to settings / practices / software that could help me manage my multiple contacts across several email systems?
Any help would be much appreciated.
I have a similar issue; I have a bunch of email, Facebook, and, you know, actual contacts. Instead of automatically merging those with the same names, they're all listed together. I turned off everything so it only shows contacts, but I'd rather be able to merge them all together. Pressing the "Join Contact" button prompts me to join together email accounts or Facebook accounts only, which I don't want; I want to join contacts with their Facebook/Email accounts.
Anyone know how to do that?
try exporting all your contacts to the sd/internal mem card.
import them to your google account. they should then be in different categories.
check/uncheck the relevant boxes to show/hide contacts

[Q] Gmail contacts with Facebook contacts merge

Hello everyone, first time to post or ask a question although I've always found all i'm seeking through this forum and it's more than awesome, but i face a little problem...
The problem is as following, some contacts i have on my contact list are stored with another name than the name on facebook, ex: "John (Jazz Club)" isn't getting merged automatically with "John Lynn", specially when he's not showing the email on the facebook page to be stored once and every time i re-flash a ROM and sync, i get the contacts merged, i got hundreds of contacts not merged and seperated (my contact list are over 2k :S), and don't ask me to rename the contact cause i will never remember who the hell is John Lynn
I've imported facebook contacts via yahoo, exported and imported via gmail and the facebook section in the contacts with the profile name is shown in the contact online but still when i sync facebook contacts they are still separated.
What i need or what i wish there is, a method to add some sort of a link on the gmail contacts for the facebook profile, so whenever i flash a new ROM and sync facebook and gmail contacts, they got merged automatically
OR
an application that does some sort of a combined backup with the both contacts and it needs aswell to import all the newly added contacts on gmail into it, is there something like that ?
sorry if i complicate stuff but if you saw how the contact list looks it will scare the @*#$ out of you
Try long pressing the contact and then "join contact" then you can pick it manually.
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium HD app
I think he knows about the Join Contact option, what the OP is asking is if there is any way to store in Google Servers that action for future restores of his contact list.

Exactly Zedread, join contacts just join the interface of the two contacts together and as soon as you flash a new ROM it's all wasted, i need a method for a "once and for all" merge, either on the Gmail servers or by an application that works stand alone
No Hope guys ???

[Q] Help with importing phone numbers from iPhone

Tried using search but it's down.
I synced my iPhone contacts with my Google account before activation my new GS3. Google only imported my contacts that had email addresses into my new address book. None of my phone number contacts were synced with Google contacts. Any help with this? Thanks!
EDIT: Figured it out exporting vcf from icloud then importing into google contacts. I don't see a delete thread option so mods if you'd like to delete this please do so. Thanks.

[Q] Managing contacts

I have all of my contacts stored in gmail contacts online.
In the course of trying to tidy up contacts on my phone, deleting duplicate/unnecessary info and 'joining' multiple accounts (mostly gmail, facebook and whatsapp) I had a bit of a Homer Simpson moment managed to delete all of my contacts (D'Oh!!).
Fortunately, as I said above I have them in gmail contacts online and had also exported them to my SD card as a vcard and so have managed to get them back (albeit having to tidy them up again).
Here's the thing though, when I go to the Contacts menu item 'Contacts to display' the contacts show when All Contacts or Gmail account are selected, but when I select Phone contacts in 'Contacts to display' the list is empty.
How do I move/copy my gmail contacts so that they are held in the actual phone memory and displayed if I opt to display Phone contacts only (i.e. no longer link to my gmail contacts)?
Cheers in advance,
Rich
I think what you need to is to sync your contact again. Contact to display is only show if your phone have a contact that is available in your gmail contact only.
copy contacts to phone only

I think you've misunderstood my original question. I have got the contacts visible when I view all contacts or view gmail contacts, but there is an option in the contacts menu to view contacts on phone only (i.e. not those stored in gmail contacts). When I use that option I don't see any of my contacts. Therefore, what I need to be able to do is copy the contacts across from gmail contacts so they are visible in the phone contacts only view, but I can't figure out how to copy them across to the phone.
Never had to do it on either my s2 or s3 before. I did do it on my old HTC via a menu option along the lines of 'Copy contacts to phone' but there isn't a menu option like that on the s3 unless I'm missing something obvious.
Anyone got any ideas?
Cheers.
