For windows, go to My Computer on the PC. Then right click over your device from the list and select rename. Rename to desired name.
Hope this helps
Thank you for replaying, but I know this way.
My question was if you can do this before flashing the ROM. I know you can rename your phone by editing build.prop, but this don't change the device name when connected to a windows PC.
Hope I'll get my answere.

Hi,
I'm currently thinking about getting a HTC 7 Mozart.
One of the biggest questions I have is whether it's possible to just copy the mp3 files to the phone.
Can it be simply plugged into the PC, so I can paste the MP3s in the folder I choose?
If so, does it detect the files automatically and can I copy them to a different PC afterwards (without the use of any special software)?
Thank you very much in advance
U need Zune Software ..

Thank you for your fast reply
I think it is also possible to sync over wifi ^^
I've cooked my latest Android ROM with "cyanogenmod_183" and latest tytung's kernel "r_12_beta", and my tethernig USB doesn't work!
Instead, wi-fi hotspot work very fine!
When connect my USB cable to the PC (Windows 7), it doesn't detect my PDA... and i can not even use my phone as USB Mass Storage.
I've included into my rom, the files "hosts" and "resolv.conf" for HD2.. but nothing to do...
When tap to activate Tethering USB, i see the error message "USB not connected"! 0_o
Where i wrong? How i can fix this problem?
Thanx to all..
I hoped for any answers... it's possible that on the famous xda no one can explain me how i can fix my problem or where i've wrong? 0_o
We aren't all informatic engineers.. no everybody has attended a school in computer science! I'm here to learn... i've searched for any topic that can resolve my problem, but i can't find it...
I hoped for any answers, but also only one answer with this text: "we don't want help you!" would be sufficient!!!
Did you install the drivers ?
Sent from my Ultima Weapon© using XDA App
I've read in someone thread that the only two files
that i need are these two:
hosts
resolv.conf
[\QUOTE]
Are these the drivers? If not, can you tell me
how i can install them?

I've tryed to activate sync from dedicated icon on my PDA, but without success..

Does USB mass storage works - in other words, does your phone show the USB logo in the notification bar on the top (and when you pull down the notification bar, you should have a notification to enable USB mass storage drive).
See if that works - that is the indication that the computer is detecting the phone. Also check your device manager to see if Android phone is listed.
Finally, you will get better help if you post in the HD2 Android Q&A section.
Problem solved... i've forget the bin file named "vold" in "system/bin" folder!
The two files "hosts" and "resolv.conf" that i've pasted into "system/etc" folder aren't enough... they need a binary file named "vold" into "system/bin" folder to work properly!
Now my HD2 Tethering USB work very fine!
Thank you for the answers!

Hello if you are not able to find the usbStorage folder in the My Files Application on the android do the following. .
1. Open the My Files Application.
2. Click on your options and select RENAME
3.You will see the usbStorage folder now and just make the first letter Capital.
You should be all set. The My Files app will see it now.
Good Luck.
Hi people!
i'm new here.
I have this Panasonic Eluga dL1(EB-3901) android phone. It's version 2.3.5
when I plug the USB into the computer, it does not install any drivers (i'm unsure if it had any in the first place), i googled for the drivers but had not luck there.
thus when i type adb devices i do not see the phone listed. I need logcat to help me debug an application.
side note: I did transfer my developing app to the phone via sdcard but the app crashed. I am not sure if it could be due to my manifest's file minSdkVersion as 10 is already 2.3.3 and 11 is 3.0 and there is no 2.3.5.
Would appreciate any help. Thank you people!
Regards,
Paul
What Windows version do you use? (Assuming you use windows ). Should be installed automatically in Windows 7.

Small question for you: I saw a review of this device, and the camera and gallery app looked awesome. Any chance you could share them?
[Use a file explorer on you phone, go to ROOT\system\apps and copy the camera and gallery app to your user memory and then transfer to pc.] No root needed (read only)
Thanks in advance if this is possible.
yup i am using windows.
Will try you suggestion in a moment.
Btw there is no camera app in /system/apps but there is this app called "Gallery3D". Do you want it? i can't really host it at work. perhaps i can email the app to you?
Regards,
Paul
oh. the suggestion doesn't work. its not exactly what i wanted.
I am looking for the device drivers for Eluga, apparently Windows (am using windows 7 Pro) does not install the drivers automatically and there is no installation along with the phone.
The steps suggested had this area where they needed me to have adb. Which is exactly what I am looking for from the start. I am unable to locate my device when i type "adb devices" and would like to know if anyone has a clue to get it done (i once added some codes into google/usb_driver for my kindle fire to be recognised).
Do let me know if anyone know how to make the Panasonic Eluga recognised by adb.
Thank you people!!!
Regards,
Paul
I'm not a big adb user, so I don't think I can help you with that. Are there any other apps with a camera icon or gallery icon in that folder? I don't need them right now, so take your time.

You can try to connect other phone, if it isn't working fastest solution is to downgrade to windows 10.

LoL What?? No
Make sure that your Android phone is set to "Media device (MTP)" mode when connected to the computer. To do this, connect your phone to the computer via USB, then swipe down on your phone's notification panel and tap on the "USB" notification. From there, select "File transfer" or "Media device (MTP)".
Also, enable USB Debugging on Your Android Phone.
Go to Control Panel then Device manager then Portable Device wher you will find your device with exclamation ( ! ) mark. Right Click on it, update driver --- Browse my computer for driver -- Let me pick from a list --- select MTP USB Device -- Next
Probably you will be now able .....
