Just my opinion, but there's nothing wrong with high RAM usage in Android. Stock roms (esp sammy) are notorious for bloat so they may use a lot of ram. As long as it doesn;t affect your system performance, you can leave it alone.

it does affect my system preformace , belive me , facbook messenger takes about 45 seconds to open a chat head
and when I try to click the app drawer icon I enjoy a scene of my background as the device is stuck and hanged and no icons are shown
when I recive a call when im using the device , the phone hangs and nothing moves for like 30 seconds and it realises that there is a call and starts ringing and shows the incoming call screen
this ram thing is killing me please help
why isnt there a master piece rom , with no bugs
cm = after call bug and sucks all the battery
sammy based roms = ram eaters (including neatrom)
miui = lags alot and in chinese and they are still using JB 4.1.2
AND more and more and more
its right that android is great in modabilty and customization but all of that are just words
we cant enjoy anything as long as its buggy

Check it out in my 1st Post...
the best rom.... for the last two years
I have tested many roms, over the last two years and this rom is head and shoulders, above the rest for many reasons.
The reception is great - which should be a given, when developers create roms
The battery life is great, testing this rom on the 1st day, i thought there was a disparity, between this rom and the tmobile 1.33.110.2 by about 15%, but the next day everyhing has leveled out, and if there's any disparity it maybe about 5%
Using the internet for 1 hour and writing, copying and pasting using notes you loose approx 10% of the batteyr life - which is on par with the stock rom
Listening to music, using the more memory intensive windows media player, for 90 minutes [music videos] - i also lost 10% - audio manager missing, but a simply search in the forum and voila....
The lock screen is much better than the one, that comes with the stock rom
Wifi an bluetooth works
Memory
Storage is 300mb + if you remove, ringtones and other jpgs found in my documents.
Programs with internet sharing active [handset as a modem], the memory in use is 66mb and free is 106mb
In idle state approx 45mb in use
The only issue i have found and i can live with is, when the phone boots up, the phonepad software intializes, and the window remains open, instead of closing and reverting back to the today screen.
I really hope in future, you take alot of the great and good from this rom, and don't be swayed to just throw, gimmicks into your rom, which run in the background and just kill the battery life and cause network issues, programs such as arkswitch, gfx, slide to unlock to name a few.
Great piece of work......... and thank you very much
Thanks!!!

Hey there!
Hi, maybe stupid to ask since you are flashing 3 to 4 ROM'S a day but have you tried lite'ning rom? I find the battery duration on it very surprising and with normal usage (the things you mentioned) I last for about 20-25 hours.
Good luck finding something that fits your needs!
try underclocking/volting
Just relax man. Everything will be OK if you relax for a while

SetCPU and all those undervolting/underclocking stuffs are useless.
@OP- You just need to find what processes or apps are causing the drain, to see that download Better Battery Stats and check under 'Wakelocks'. Juice Defender, Flashing different Custom ROM's, changing kernels will do nothing but waste some energy and time of your and give you false mental peace. But it is recommended to Calibrate the battery once after you install a new ROM.
Regards.
I also have Lighting 5.0 and nipho 2.0.5 and my battery life is great!almost 2 full days with medium to high usage which is just GREAT for me ;]
-Advanced Task Killer autokill set to ON.
-Green Power Premium and Powersaver Enabled at 10%
-Autokill Memory at Startup
-Also Instaledl Root Uninstall and froze all stock applications which where not needed which HELPED ALOT,because applications running in the backround does drain battery and trust me 60% of applications running are not needed
-Also have Battery Calibration which is nice.Use it after flashing every rom ;]
-If you dont really Use 3G that much Change Network Mode to GSM only and disable Use packet data.If you do use 3G just install an app like Cambia Red make a shortcut on your screen and enable disable both Packet Data and GSM to GSM/WCDMA(Auto mode) to use 3G and then switch it back off.
This is what i do with my phone, with all this settings i am extremely happy with my battery performance ;]
Also i Agree with ithehappy install BetterBatteryStats and see which programs have high Wakelocks!! ;]
Hope it helps
I use LeoMar rom with nimpho kernel.
With medium use i can use my phone 2 days without charging. Wlan, GPS, 3G is on. My brigthness is always on 25%.

Hello Everyone ! My first post on XDA-developers forum , so Yes! I'm a noob as the registration video showed me .
So The Question is : Topic Title
Short Description :
I have Android 2.1 ( Official Update form HTC ) on my Hero , and I want to root it , but I'm not sure what ROM should I use . From my previous experience , CM was very good on my HTC Click / Tattoo , but in Hero I seen ( read ) that it's kind of slow .
There are lots of ROM's for Hero and I'm searching for one that meets up this conditions :
Extended Battery Life ( Currently ~ 2 Days , but if i use Wi-Fi or play games it drains very fast )
Good Call Reception ( just like it's now )
And the main criteria : since the ARM will be at ~760 mHZ ( i think ) , to be FAST .
I want to install APP2SD , and i'm not looking for eye-taking theme's , I want PERFORMANCE .
So please tell me your experience with this ROM's . Thank You in advance
Vanilla Eclair is nice, though I don't get as good battery as with CM7 But if you overclock all the way to 760 you won't get two days use out of it, I use 672 and get one day with much use
So , here I'm back again with my Hero running elelinux ( the one updated on 22.03.2012 ) and I have some questions .
What's the medium battery life you get on this ROM ?
* for me the battery life is ok , but when I surf the internet on Mobile Data ( 2G Only selected ) the battery drains so fast , let's say something like 1 % every 1 ( maybe 2 ) minutes .
Also , I have problems with the Home Screen .
* because 2.3.7 doesn't have a Digital Clock Widget I have installed one from the market ( Retro Clock ) , it happens after exiting a " hungry " resource app , the Homescreen remains empty and i have to wait a bunch of seconds to re - appear . Any fix ?
Not really a problem , just not used to it
* if I plug in my headphone's ( with DSP Manager On ) the audio is great but after the song finishes the headphones make a noisy sound for 1 - 3 seconds , any fix for that ?
Also any tested speed improvement's ( without to much battery impact ) will be useful . Awaiting responses . Thank You , Raoul .
i find that theres a battery drain on all cm based gingerbread roms when your actually using the phone. but i have no idea what causes is. maybe someone could shed some light on that
about your homescreen resetting. go into settings, then click on cyanogenmod/advanced settings (can't remember what its called on that rom), then click on performance, then check the lock home in memory option
hope that helps
Thank you for the quick response , I locked the home , no problem so far .
Another problem , i forgot to mention :
* From time to time , my screen acts like I am clicking something , but doesn't enter that app or function , it only randomly appears like clicking but it doesn't do anything , maybe scrolling without me doing so .
Any advice ?
I have no idea. I pretty much get the same batterylife on every rom, it just manages a day But LeWa for example seems to have a bug which drains battery like crazy :/
Try that:
1.Decked X :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1276544
Decked X is clear AOSP Rom (clear Android GB without everything what you can find in Sense Roms).
2.Some apk for OC (ex. Antutu CPU Master). In options change frequency for Screen-off for something like ~250-350 MHz (other for different kernels).
I haven't more ideas for you.

i know closing bg apps is for saving battery but its too strict it dosent let a game like asphalt 7 download in the background and let me browse or even chat on whatsapp without it getting close then i have to restart the download (really annoying) it only takes a mere ~20 mb
is there anyway to make this thing go away?

Ok now all the ROM give us the promise of an awesome battery life and some do deliver on the promise. So I ask you guys! How long does your Phone live? When posting please post in this format.

starting:84%
Everyday use.
Jelly Vanila EX 5.0 JB 4.2.2 - 4 hours at full task
Xnxt v10 with stock kernel-6.5 hours
.
.
.
both of them heat the battery
.
.
AND stock GB-8 hours
on stock rom i can get 1 day and 15 hour with gaming and browsing and have 30% remaining
now i'm using xperia i1 honami rom...just get 15 hour bettery...
Sk17i Real ICS Lite R4
Sk17i
Real ICS Lite R4
Original - Boot-loader non unlockable
CPU Tuner - Variable Governor
No screenshot, but it´s about the same 12/13 hours
If I had any brains I would have returned this mobile as battery is ver sh##ty and processor seems like a 800Mhz or 600Mhz in spite of the 1Ghz...

And Now I present to you gentlemen then infamous flatline which I have been searching for
Overnight discharge 0%
App which I think made it possible.
Greenify
And various In ROM tweaks.
One whole week of full charge to full discharge. Combined with the app mentioned & tweaks in ROM I could achieve a flatline(meaning 0% discharge) when the screen was off. But the problem is when the screen came back on battery dropped 1% every 15-20 Mins(with net turned on)
Stock ICS rom .431 with a LOT of mods
Starting: 100%
Daily use with most of time wi-fi on and some Youtube use.

Sure!
Well i did a lot of things but those which concern battery use were:
-After some trying other roms i noticed that .431 had better battery use and a lot of mods so i choose this one to make my perfect rom.
-Removed all bloatware and even some non bloatware system apps that i dont use (taken from several threads like this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1614761
, I experimented freezing some apps that i thought werent necessary but i didn t want to delete, like clockserivice.apk or even semcalendar.apk
-Installed New xperia JB 4.2 Adreno libs for our little arm cpu.
-Ive tried Greenify but it doesnt seem to work for me.(but my mini pro doesnt need it , its super fast)
-Most recently ive frozen SystemUI service "LoadAverageService" Which seems to take some unecessary RAM Use. (i havent had any problem)
-I've searched for those apps that are light , fast and RAM friendly (Nova launcher, quickpic, whatsapp+ , google keyboard, etc)
(replaced sony camera app with JB camera sony camera had some thumbnail bug)
-I dont use Facebook app everytime i install it my phone slows down.
-Moved most of apps to sd via ext partition ( Link2sd) ive only left in internal those one that i really need to be responsive like the app launcher
Also fixed most problems with .431 rom like the LED and some other things i really cant remember ( ive had this rom for so much time , that level of satisfaction i have)
In things not related to battery:
-Installed Stock AOSP FUll Black SystemUI (I love the JB UI) (modded by me to have a clock) from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1840580.
-JB 4.3 Font
-JB animation

I tried the disable service app, and disable the loadaverageservice, but with the extent that the disableservices app is having 12mb on the ram. Is it still worthy to use it?
And I also see that google services app has many running services, is there any safe to disable?

This is the thread where i got the trick http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2372363 maybe you can look for more opinions , for me its worth it as it doesnt affect any functionality in my sk17
About disabling google services , do some research (or crazy experiments  ) about what does it do every running service you would like to stop. I still dont have knowledge enough to recommend mingling with that services and i totally wouldnt recommend it.
cheers friend
