Hello everyone.I would like to know when I encrypt my SDcard and then upgrade the firmware do I still be able to access & use that SDcard on the new firmware?or it'll be like "damaged" & can't be read even when using PC?
I have Android Jellybean 4.2.2 and soon I am going to receive Kitkat update on my Galaxy S4.Any Idea?
Thanks in advance.

if its 4.1.2 stock firmware than it doesn't need factory reset, but i have seen some users having a boot loop while doing so and to remove the boot loop issue they have to factory reset and wipe cache partition. it would be better if u backup everything before you do this(recommended)..
Backup evrythng using titanium backup or a similar app and restore the data after flashing the 4.3 rom..

Kies will have the 4.3 update when it is released for your phone .

The firmware hasn't been released yet for all carriers in all regions.
You could download it and flash it, thought.

Normally upgrade to a higher version should retain user data, apps & contacts. few weeks before i upgraded from 4.1.2 to 4.3 without loosing anything. But always backup the required data is suggested.

One word of advice: the i9300 4.3 update is VERY laggy and full of battery drain bugs. I would remain on 4.1.2 if I were you until Samsung releases a refreshed S3 update.
This is why the update may not be available through Kies, they pulled it as soon as UK users started complaining.

Person who wishes he never pressed "install" on the 4.3 OTA...

Galaxy Mega 6.3
Sadly you cannot do it normally with the current 4.2 Mega stock rom.
Either you have to wait for a stock update to 4.4, or use a custom rom.
As far as I know, you still have another option which is the application Foldermount https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.devasque.fmount
But you need root access IIRC.
There is a way when you are rooted use foldermount or flash the mj2 rom that has the copy to sd function in it.
Thank you guys but I dont have a clue what are you two talking about is there a guide or youtube video//tutorial on that thingy rom or can you type it here i was and ios user before so...
Every ROM from November 2013 forward have Move2SD (in November started first update 4.2.2. in countries which solved that "bug"). Look at Sammfirmware. Just be patient a little and wait first update or install some stock ROM from November/December 2013. There is also some info that we'll get 4.3 i January/February 2014.
Greetings PROGRAMs! Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I'm at a bit of a conundrum.
I have an HP Slate 7 extreme Nvidia tegra tablet currently running Android 4.3. I just got the update notification this morning and I would like to know if it's safe to update to 4.4.2. I've read the horror stories about 4.4.2 disabling external SD card usage and I just got a 32gb micro SD.
So, should I update? Any help is always appreciated. Thanks!
There are serious bugs in the 4.4 VPN subsystem. If you're a VPN user, absolutely do not upgrade. Even the recent 4.4.4 release does not fix the problems. Easy goog search for details.
Interesting. Thanks for the warning. I don't use a VPN, but will everything else work?

If you root that phone then SD card can be fixed to use. I use 32 GB Sandisk SD card on my Samsung Galaxy S Plus running CM11 Android 4.4.3
Just take a backup (NANDroid backup, not regular data backup) of 4.3 ROM if you want to revert back.
Sent from my GT-I9001 Gadget of Mass Destruction with CM11 using XDA Developers App.
Ah, I see. I'd love to root this tablet but unfortunately, I got it from my job, so I don't know if I should root it if they ask for it back. Still helpful though. Thanks!
Hello guys,
I did some searching before I ended posting but I didn't find anything that I could use to be honest.
If you think that this post should be removed, please do so and PM me the link which I should refer to.
I have a rooted Note 3 Neo SM-N7505 (Norwegian) running on Jellybean V4.3.
I have installed CWM and rooted the phone so I can't download the KitKat update 4.4 (it says your phone has been modified therefore you cannot get the update).
Can you help me figure out how do I upgrade to KitKat without losing any data? It doesn't have to be the stock ROM, I can use a cusrom ROM, but what I want to avoid is reinstalling and reconfiguring all my apps again.
Do I have to fake my device status with Xposed and run the update as if my phone was not rooted?
Do I have to flash the stock 4.4 KitKat for my phone through CWM ? Will that erase my apps and data?
anyone? It can't be so hard!
Hello guys,
I am noob on android devices and I would like to upgrade my IconiaTab A501 because most of applications are not compatible with this version.
I am in Android 4.0.3 and I would like to upgrade to the lastest one.
I have tried to do the system update but it always says the network cover is too low please move to another place to get better cover. I have read on internet that this message means it cant be updated by itself we need to find another way as it does not concern wifi.
I saw that its now Android 9.1 but i am not sure it can be installed in my tablet.
Could you guys please help to know which is the lastest Android version i can install in my A501?
Also my image is Acer_AV041_A501_RV20RC08_WW_GEN1
Thanks for your help
