[Q] Google+ : fingerprint_scanner_static "wake lock" - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello there,
I'm facing a strange wake lock issue with Google+. It's draining my battery really fast ! Using BBS, I can see a 1h40 wake partial lock associed to "fingerprint_scanner_static" module for the past day. It's part of Google+.
Using Disable service app, I recently desactivated Google+ "FingerprintScannerIntentService" service, but "fingerprint_scanner_static" wake lock is still there. Maybe this one is related to another service, but I don't know which one to desactivate to avoid battery drain issue.
Has someone an idea to solve my battery drain issue ? I already tried to uninstall/reinstall app.

I have same problem with this app.
I can solved it.
very simple, you can using Greenify for it. (need xposed.)
when greenify google+, you'll see this text: "state always ignored in hibernation."
launch menu, cancel the ignored.

No Google+ installed
Hello!
Starting some days ago, fingerprint_scanner_static drains my battery in a 6 or 7 hours even if I don't use the phone at all. And I don't have Google+ installed
Using DisableService app, I disabled FingerprintScannerIntentService from Google Play Services. But the problem persists. Any idea on how to solve this?

fingerprint_scanner_static kernel wakelock

Same here.
S3 running CM12.1-20150406-UNOFFICIAL-d2att.
Google+ not installed.
FingerprintScannerIntentService frozen using ROM Toolbox.
This kernel wakelock kept my phone awake for 1 hour and 42 minutes today. Single largest kernel wakelock by a long shot. Maybe I should install Google+ so I can Greenify it! Wouldn't that be a weird work-around?

For me, i unistalled this terrible app.

I have google+ app disabled and FingerprintScannerIntentService is disabled with DisableService too, but somedays this wakelock keep my phone awake all time. I haven't found a solution yet

Another update: I am back to KK 4.4.4 and still have this annoying wakelock not matter what I do (freeze G+, uninstalle it, use autorun or disableservice)
No other info can be found out there, so I think if no solution can be found here in xda, then there is no solution .

I have the same problem on a Galaxy Note 1. No Google+ and the FingerprintScannerIntentService is disabled.
In my case the wakelock is part of "GoogleServices". Restarting them stops the wakelock. So, no solution, but a workaround.
In case I find a solution, I will post it here.

Use BetterbatteryStats to find out which wakelock are draining your battery.
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/tune-your-androids-battery-life-with-betterbatterystats/
I have used battery stats and it is saying that the above post is draining the battery. What can I do?
Found the solution to my problem I had google services framework disabled in system tuner so it was causing the phone to stay awake. Thank you for your reply.

i tried freezein Google Framework Services and i didn't had acces to contacts and calendar.
i had to resync all of them. so FREEZING GFS is not the solution!
Network Location, background data, autosync disabled. no auto refreshing, updating software running.
the phone goes to sleep only when i kill GFS, and for some time, after that GFS restarts on its own!
other ideas?

I have a Galaxy S4 i9505 and the exact same problem. Google Contacts sync all of a sudden began not to be completed and run the whole day long, completely dranining battery... so far I have disabled it, but I like to have "real-time" changes on my Gmail Contacts applied on the phone. That's one of the main reasons I have an Android phone.

I have turned off notifications and sync but it keeps waking up phone according to better battery stats. Anyone else having this problem? I am now running the latest btu UK version and still the same.

Delete the Facebook app
no Problem here,
try reinstalling!
It has nothing to do with JB. It has to do with the latest update of the Facebook app.
Somehow the current FB app keeps a thread running all the time to check for updates and keeping the device in sync, and that not only makes the phone terribly slow and laggy, but it also causes more battery drain (not to mention higher data consumption)
Since I didn't have a backup of the previous FB app, my choice was to uninstall FB and, honestly, I don't regret it.
The thing is, I use facebook frequently so don't want to uninstall it. Since flashing to jb, I have had to disable Google now, location services and various other things which I didn't have to with ics! What's the point of a smart phone if you can't have anything installed/running!

Install Tasker and Secure Settings. Create a Tasker profile to use the SS plugin and freeze Facebook when the screen is turned off. Create a Task to unfreeze FB, wait half a second and the open FB app. On your homescreen create a Tasker widget to run the second task, and make the icon for the task the FB app icon.
I've done the above, and it means I can run FB on my phone but as soon as I turn the screen off the app is frozen and it can't drain my battery. I do the same for Google Maps for similar reasons.

Battery drain after latest maps update?

Hello, first of all i'm using sock rooted 4.1.2. yesterday i had several updates pending - maps 7, G+, whatsapp, es file explorer and 2 more, i don't remember which exactly. being excited after i read that after update maps is no longer running all the time i rushed to update them. right after that i started experiencing some strange battery drain issues - better battery stats are reporting high drain from NLP wake locks. i cleares maps' cache and also disabled location reporting (although it was turned on prior the update and it was not causing trouble) but the issue is still there. in the stock battery monitor i see that while the screen is off something is waking up the device repeatedly at a certain interval. i'm using both better battery stats and wakelock detector, but i see nothing apart from the NLP wakelocks. I don't know what can be causing this - newest maps app, or the whatsapp - greenify reports whatsapp starting a lot, but i don't see it in both better battery stats or in the wakelock detector. any ideas? will clearing cache and dalvik could fix this? has anyone else noticed battery drain after latest maps update?
I am not having any issues... i have updated my I9300

I've narrowed this down to: Google+ -> Settings -> Location Sharing -> Location Reporting Settings -> Location Reporting set on ON.
If I switch Location Reporting OFF the NLPWakeLocks drop back...

There's a bugs with whatsapp recently, you may want to download the whatsapp.apk from whatsapp official website using your pc, transfer to your phone and install it manually, hope this help.

[I9305] Endless war against wakelocks

I really love these AOSP KitKat roms but on every rom I get these crazy battery killing wakelocks. Everytime I manage to somehow block one wakelock, then after a while another appears.
I have tried like every way to block the wakelocks: Amplify, built-in wakelock blockers, Disable Services app etc but I always end up with new wakelock, its an endless war against these. Most of the wakelocks come from Google Play Services and I cant really live without Play Store so completely removing gapps is not an option for me. Im also using Xposed with Greenify on boost mode.
I can bring up some screenshots when the next wakelock makes its appearance, Im currently running on L-Droid v4.0 rom
These wakelocks make me miss my old Windows Phone, I cant really rely on my phone when it can suddenly run out of battery in my pocket anytime :crying:
Any tips and tricks on dealing with the wakelocks? Any help is appreciated at this point!
Here we go again, ffs.
....and BBS screenshot
Im now trying to get rid of this "mdm_hsic_pm0" wakelock by disabling fast dormancy with an app.
Most likely this wont solve a sh*t but hey, nothing is lost by trying right?
After adding this to the build.prop I yet havent witnessed that batterykilling wakelock which I mentioned in the last post. Will continue testing to see if it occurs again.
So as you can already guess: The wakelock appeared again.
I decided to give up on L-Droid rom and now Im switching over to LiquidSmooth's 3.2 milestone build, lets see how it happens with this rom too...
Maybe you should try different gapps package. Use Pico or nano version, and you could check different build dates. I'm not using KitKat anymore but remember that one of them with screwed up by Google service framework caused Wakelocks.

I have tried several different gapps I have gotten my hands on. Now Im using these latest Liquid KitKat gapps directly from their site and Im getting serious battery drain by wakelock called systemupdateservice so another gapps related wakelock. Even when the systemupdateservice is disabled in Disable Service app, it still continues to keep my phone awake 90-100% of the time. This is insane
When I disable the gapps with App Quarantine on this rom the battery life becomes normal, not a single wakelock is killing it.
Still it sucks to enable gapps, login back to my google account just to update my apps and then I have to disable them again.
Don't know is it present in your rom but in cyanogenmod you can disable certain app Wakelocks in privacy - advanced settings. You need to choose app which wake your device ie Google service and disable one of the Wakelock. There will be an information how many of them appears.

Been there done that, both roms had this feature built-in. Didnt solve anything, same wakelocks still remain.

Facebook and Messenger won't hibernate

Hello guys, I have a problem with the Facebook and Messenger app, they don't hibernate even if I manually hibernate them.
I tried cutting off the wakelock path, ignoring running state and enabling deep hibernation, but even after that I open the app to find them in the "will hibernate when screen is off" section. They've been draining my battery crazily!
Any other suggestions to do?
Same here. I think a recent Messenger update somehow changed something that prevents Greenify from hibernating it. I am using Lolliop via CM 12.1 Nighly (the very last one before CM 13).
I thought so too and rolled back to some older version, still the same problem with no luck. It's extremely frustrating.
Having the same problem here after their latest update.
Same problem, I mean I only lost like 4% over 5 hours but it should be a lot less, it was Facebook and messenger in my partial wakelocks
I used amplify to limit the wakelocks by them, the wakelock is called bugreporter and so far it hasn't affected notifications, and now they don't keep the device awake anymore.
You can also download older versions which didn't cause the issue here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64816556&postcount=28
so any news about this yet?

What about the post above yours? That not sufficient for you?
Same here, gets woken by LollipopSerivce and stays up for hours until I manually killed it with "put in to hibernation now"
details:
CM13 nightly 20160116
Xposed 79,
Greenify 2.8 beta 9
Same with me, i uninstalled FB but i need messenger for chatting
Also the persistant notification from Messenger seems to prevent it from sleeping (Sequence : Messenger is hibernating, I receive a GCM push that wake him up but then it keep being "up" if i don't throw away the pop-up....). Or maybe i'm totally wrong dunno
CM13
Xposed
Greenify Beta 9
Same problem
Same here, really frustrating.
Same here, I came here to look if there's anyone else with this problem.
I don't want to install amplify just for fb and msn.

Workaround
This may be a workaround for now but this is what I did: I tapped on Facebook to highlight it. I then tapped the three-dot menu and selected "Put into hibernation now". A popup then showed-up warning of possible data loss or functionality problems. There is a checkbox in the popup for "Always ignore app state". I ticked it and continued. I did the same procedure for Messenger.
They usually get rid of this trick
With Amplify it's ok.. no more drain from messenger..
SAme problem, back to 2.8 and it´s working
Same here now with notification from greenify... ****ing facebook wakes u every 5min... Anoying.. With the only 2gb ram my phone laggs... Lg g3... Anyway. I will uminstall ans see if my phone gets faster
I had the same problem. I installed greenfy free and saw what wakes up my apps... After i installed " Disable Services " and disable two services. It works for me in facebook, i dont know about messenger. Sorry my bad english.

Dump the horrible facebook app and work through the FB web site instead. Or give Hermit a whirl to speed things up even further.
