after a week of thinking hard im going to sell my note 3 for the z ultra because i want a bigger screen, that being said im trying to get one used but most people are selling their black versions and whites are hard to find. I know black smudges alot easily on the back over the white version but would it also apply on the front screen? i plan on getting a case for the phone so i don't worry about smudges on the back but more on the screen so if the white one shows less smudges on the front screen im going to have to take my time and wait to get that version. Anyone know if this is true? thanks
Hi
The colour of the surround would not make a difference regarding the smudges, so feel free to buy a black one
All the best
RON
get a black one
Get black colour.
White looks dirty
Black looks sexy, :silly:

Imho white is cleaner, but black is more slender and sexier and it will improve the viewing pleasue. I myself got the white one but with soft case the white part is invisible so the black one will be just fine for you. Plus the flip case of the black color is better imho, i.e. No visible gump or dirt after some usage.

I think the black version is better looking than the white. However I got the white one myself because I know the black one smudges like crazy on the back and that sleek look would just look dirty most of the time unless you clean it A LOT.
Also. I'm guessing that like on the black iPhone which I have owned, the paint on the aluminum frame will get scuff marks in various places with time making it look older than what it is. I got them very quickly on my iPhone 5. Just took a week to get the first scuff. On the white version it will not be visible at all really.

Why are people so biased? It's the truth that white glass will hide finger prints much better. So When you're just handing your phone by holding the bezel, the fingerprint will be applied but it won't be noticeable. On the other hand I'm CONSTANTLY wiping my Z ultra, and it's so annoying. I'm definitely switching back to white front phone for my next phone. Fingerprint is the only reason I want a white phone. I love Z ultra's black slab look, but hate the smudges SO much.
To put it really simple:
- black one looks better in my opinion, it's sleeker, more elegant and it looks smaller than it really is, black front, back and frame blends very well togheter,
- white one however is much more practical because fingerprints and smudges are less visible and it looks bigger than black one because it has silver frame.
So if you prefer having sleeker looking device go for black one and if you can't stand smudges and fingerprints go for the white one. You might also get black one and buy tempered glass with oleophobic coating which will increase resistance for smudges and fingerprints. I own both black and white Z Ultra.
I've owned all 3 colors. White is my favorite but unless you stare at the back all day its all the same. Color doesn't help with smudges just get screen protector

My brown back cover is suffering from 1 or 2 scratches in 2 months of usage. I normally see Iphone users have hard plastic/silicon/decent looking cases to protect their device. HD2 also has a dedicated one.
Does Hero have something stock from HTC to protect it's covers?
What do you use for decent looking protective covers for the Hero? Pics may help greatly!

Silicone case all the way baby.
Cheap as chips and doesn't look cheap like the floppy old rubber cases we used to use.
I think mine was about £2, £2.50 max (good old ebay). Also came with a free screen protector.
Well worth it.
Here is mine
Nice soft plastic thats easygoing even when taking it out of your pocket.
Got it from .pdair.com
Mines similar ^^^, Got mine off Ebay for £2.49, Bargin
Yours covers the Volume buttons, mine doesn't

Same one here, 5$ including shipping - on eBay. Works great, using it 4 months (I think) and there are no signs of material going yellow, or chipping and cracking. Protects very good and isn't bulky!
Also, I see you have Eclair. There is green tint on camera

Ooops,.... Got it wrong,... Not SILICONE, they are the soft floppy ones aren't they,....
I meant GEL case,... Like the photos people have posted.
Mine also covers the volume - I do have 6 though so I can mess around with if I prefer it with or without! (All for £5 inc P+P - Bargain!).
Sorry about the poor quality of the pic - my elf’s camera is not so good!
I like that it provides a bit of a ridge around the screen - My daughter has a tendency to play with my phone and ends up throwing/dropping it on the floor, this helps avoid scratching (I also have a screen protector) It also doesn't add too much width around it, provides better grip, and doesn't muffle sound when on the phone.
Much better than the floppy silicon ones - they are useless, gel all the way!
You let your daughter play with your phone,.... I don't even let the missus touch mine!
if she breaks it, i'll get a new one on insurance - but I turst her, although she isn't even 18months! She does like to phone people on it, that is the only downside to these cases, they don't stop that (I should set a lock pattern...)

Back on topic,... 6 for a fiver,... Ebay??... Are they all different colours?
She phones my fianceé's phone, which is usuall sat underneath. (sorry for going off topic)
I would prefer her not to have my phone, but thats what makes the case a necessity of the case, she can get anywhere I leave it, this way, I don't get it broken, and she brings me it if someone phones me
Yup, I have white, blue, red, pink, purple and black. If i were a girl, I could accessorise to what I was wearing!

These skins look fantastic and D-Brand has a great track record for this sort of thing.
Go ahead and mess around with the different configurations then post a screenshot.
And post real pictures once you receive your Nexus 6 and brand it! (assuming you plan on using a skin)
I just don't like the selection. They need to create more ...
I want matte dark red
Slickwraps have more options
I like the black carbon, red accents I'm excited for this! Now if they could hurry up with the Nexus 9 skins.
I'm curious how they account for the dimple if you don't get the cutout.

Same here,
I want the back with no cutouts but i dont know how the material will look where the nexus logo is, or the M logo.
If you order it with the cutout you can buy the accent(for the cutout and camera lens) but that way you are gonna have some edge around the cutout.
I want to have the black leather to match my moto 360, but i dont want the sticker unstick where the M logo is.
If the glue is strong it should be okay.
Those samples with the accents look pretty sharp. I'm probably going to use a case for a little while, so I'm going to hold off on the skins for now.

I am thinking the same. As a person who can't stand huge and obnoxious branding, I will get the one which has no cut outs. But, like h0bnail said, the dimple makes me want to see it IRL first.

I've never had a skin from them peel. I removed one of their skins to put a different color skin on and it was a lot of work to remove and it left 0 residue so you should be fine.
As far as the dimple you can get a separate piece to go in it for $2. I may get a white N6, get the black CF Dbrand skin with a cutout, and in the cut out have a red accent in the Motorola dot.

That's exactly what in doing with the blue Nexus (except I'm putting s matte black accent on the camera and red carbon on the moto logo). I ordered mine a few days ago, their skins are awesome.
How does the matte finish skin feel?
Does their titanium skin feel metallic?
Wasted a good 30min going through different configs lol.
I'm going with a two-tone blue back with white accent for the M logo and camera. Matte white for the front.
Thanks OP.
Man I have never even heard of them!!! I will most likely be buying myself a set in the coming weeks. Im thinking black steel on the back with white accents.. and an orange front. xD
EDIT: Scratch the front skin.. the nexus 6 looks to be almost completely glass on the front unlike a samsung phone... so it would prob get in the way of a screen protector lol

I don't know what you mean by "metallic feel". I can tell you it looks and feels stylish. Obviously, it's vinyl, not metal, so it's not cold or anything, but it's really cool. It's a bit on the slippery side, but not as much as real metal.
Here it is applied on my white Nexus 5:
Dbrand posted a foto of the black carbon skin on a nexus 6.

By metallic I meant does it feel cold and kind of slippery. I figured since they advertised it as such, it would maybe have a thing layer of aluminium or something. After Googling, I found some nice pictures. That's good to know though.
Thanks!
I just ordered a Black Titanium skin, will be sure to post pictures/video once i get it.
Ordered a black titanium and mahogany, all my previous phones had carbon fiber look, looking for a fresh new look, also looking to buy a bamboo vinyl to cut it myself, they have one but i dont like it because the texture look is crowded. I'm trying to find one to match a closer look to moto x bamboo.
Dbrand posted a picture on their facebook page of an unreleased skin. I really want it since it looks really nice and grippy. I've emailed them about it but haven't gotten a response yet. Hopefully they'll start selling it soon.
So....
I took it upon myself to make a quick visual mod to the phone, then used a dBrand matte white skin to recolor the back of the phone. Turned out pretty well I think. First "visual" mod to the external portion of a phone that I've tried.
(decided to add some contrast to the case while I was at it)
I have that same case. Looks good man.
Thanks! Im really pleased with how it turned out.
Looks nice. I also really wanted it in white. Wish they hard the Verizon red color also. How white is the skin? The protector seems to be tinted? Or is it just the picture?
If Verizon was smarter they would have come out with the bright red version.
Did you color ur letters? This looks really good!!
I used Sharpie oil based paint markers to paint the letters and some acetone to clean them up. It wasn't really SUPER neccesary to clean up excess due to the skin. I painted the NE and US in black to show better on the white skin. Then obv. the standard Nexus colors on the X.
Also, the skin is BRIGHT white. It looks a bit tinted or yellow due to the crappy lighting in my kitchen. It looks pure snow white.

Got them from there. They work for the purpose, but be careful. If you keep pushing down to get ink out after it's already in the tip it will spill everywhere. So once you get the ink flowing just write with it to get more ink, dont push down again.
For a "limited time" you can get the colored X included with your skin for free

dBrand - Nexus 6
I'm not wild on the white skin. These things always have minor imperfections and that sort of thing always annoys me.
However, I love the coloured X in NEXUS. I think I'll give that a go myself although I'm not sure about the acetone - that stuff is dodgy.
By the time dbrand advertised them my phone was done. Plus I think the paint looks way better. The fact that the paint/letters are BELOW the skin adds kind of a shadow and more contrast
This looks beyond gorgeous. Nice work!

Wanted to throw an addendum to this post. Especially if you have the Spigen Ultra Hybrid clear case. I found that the case sticks to the matte white finish of the skin, causing what appear to be dirty spots on the skin. The skin is completely perfect when you take the case off, but while its on it looks terrible.
I ordered a white carbon fiber skin and swapped it out. It looks 1000% better and doesn't have the sticking issue that the matte one did with the case. So, word to the wise, if you're considering doing this, order the carbon fiber white, or anything besides just the straight matte white one.

Can you snap a picture of your phone now with the carbon white? Would love to see it.
Yeah, at work now, but I should be home in a couple hours and i'll snag one with the case off, and one with the case on.
Lots of pics below
Not only does the carbon look better, but it doesn't stick to the case and also hides "blemishes" better than just the straight white.
I has gotten the white then decided I didn't like it so I got a back from eBay that is a black rubberized matte finish without the Nexus logo. I love it! Mine is the actual back replaced not a skin. Since there is no Nexus logo I think it's from the Moto X Pro, still has the Moto logo on it.
So I still can't decide on what colour edge to get. I thought the gold looked gaudy, but under store lights it looked more platinum, same goes with various pics I see online (always looks different). Not a big fan of bling and gold in general, but I wonder if the pics online mostly look so blingy because of lighting?
Here for example (xda - beda_boy), to my eyes at least it looks wonderful:

I was in the same deal, and obviously this was the main reason why I picked up this color, as you said it depends on the ambient light, and mainly mine looks more gold but I love the way it turns into platinum in certain situations is just awesome, at least for me
Enviado desde mi S6 Edge Gold
What case is that?
I would honestly say mix of both, its as if shiny gold was mixed with toned down platinum silver
Very hard to explain, depends on lighting as well - either way, would be very hard to be disappointed - its a really nice colour for a phone
It's more goldy i would say. I have a black case on it so it dosen't look as blingy. Definately the best colour. I had the black one which used to look more blue lol

Most Gold/Platinum just looks a silvery platinum - but if the lights catches it a hint of gold.

That's interesting, I reckon if the black was pure black I'd be more sold on it, as it is can't decide between the two. What made you switch from black?
Part of me also kind of thinks after seeing in store that maybe gold is more distracting/clashy for a front bezel colour when looking at content, compared to black or white?
I thought upgrading this year was gonna be simple given how Sammy has blown everyone out of the water, but now I'm stuck between edge/no edge and black/gold (even green now on the horizon here in the uk). Sometimes I wish they just made one colour, one model haha. Would be much simpler

One answer...go gold/plat...the best color and unique of all the choice as well..this color looks good when the screen is off as well.. The dark black screen against the colonial gold plat.. I also noticed the gold on s6 to be more blingy and gaudy. Had to shell 130 dollors just for that reason..the white s6 from the front looked ditto s4..the only model which looked unique and worthy of an upgrade was the edge and this color..and mind you I was upgrading from htc one m8 gun metal grey...so it had to be edge plat gold to beat it for me. IMHO, this is the best designed and cool looking phone in sometime...

I'll start it off. I went with the blue. I think the press photo doesn't do it justice. The in person color is way better than the pictures of it. The reason is because it reminds me of the Pebble Blue S3 from back in the day and I like the throwback feel of it. I also had black for my S8+ so wanted to "feel" like I upgraded. But most of all I like that it's different.
Why are people going Lilac Purple or even Black? Share your thoughts.
I wanted the purple one, but there wasn't stock when I got the phone last week. I had to settle for the grey one...it's growing on me...
Purple for me with a black cover. Usually the other way round but no purple covers yet.
always wanted a blue phone, couldnt get it in s8 so got it this time around. Unfortunately cover is black so dunno if im going to see the blue at all.
I went with the lilac purple so cute
I wanted the purple one at first but ended up with the blue. I even went in a Verizon store to look at them in person to make a choice on color. I had the gold note 5 then currently the silver s8 plus so I'm excited to have a brighter color this time.
Purple for Resale value. Girls love purple and it easier to sell when your done with it
I went with lilac purple, i was not a big fan of my black s8+. I dont care enough for blue.
Gone for black this time. Had a gold nexus 6p for 2 years
Went purple. Having a little remorse as it looks rather feminine. Got a clear case even before I got the phone. May go with a black case to cover up the purple, which looks too pink IMO.
I went with the Blue one, and I am very impressed. I have always had black phones, so I wanted to try something different. The pictures online made is seem more like a "baby blue", but I was glad to see this is more darker and almost like a blue-gray. I have the Speck Grip case (Eclipse Blue/Carbon Black color) and the blue case color matches the phone perfectly.
Originally went for the black, but retuning it for the the corral blue color. I usually always get black... It's time for a change [emoji16]

I'm stuck on black, thinking about changing but haven't done it yet.
Wanted to get Coral Blue as previous phone was black Note8.
But couldn't find S9+ Coral Blue in 256GB Variant.
Settled for Black S9+ 256GB FD
Black. I haven't had a black phone in years, but didn't really care much for the other colors available in the U.S.
But the truth is it doesn't matter that much, because I put a case on these all glass phones anyway.
I ordered the purple by accident, wtf. I wanted black but I guess ordering at 230am when you're at work was not the best idea. Haha
Coral Blue.
I despise AMOLED but almost every device now is using that screen tech. All of my phones have been black. I figured if I'm taking the AMOLED plunge, let's take a bigger leap and go blue.
I went with blue because I always go with blue when Samsung offers it. Check out Spigen's crystal clear offerings if you want to show off your phone.
Midnight black because there was no Titanium Grey available when I got mine. What a bummer. Maybe with the Note 9...
Blue is the color I went with.
