As it stands right now with the current state of hardware and software hacking on the Nook Tablet, what are the chances that bluetooth will be activated? I have been reading the Nook Tablet forums and it appears that there has been some very good progress made at cracking this thing wide open, so I was just wondering. Maybe we're at that point already and I've just missed something.
rodorr
I had a link somewhere how to do it...
I'm still totally noob to all this, and simply haven't gotten smart enough to try it.
Ok, I can't post the link because I don't have 8 post. I PMd it to you.
Will you PM it to me too?
Thanks!
Done, and again I say - it's currently over my head. I spent all weekend rooting my Nook Tablet, yet feel so clueless.
I would very much be interested in that info. please pm me also.
Thanks
Since many posters have few posts and can't link, If someone can PM me so I can link it in here for everyone else?
Well what i have found so far is this: http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/wireless/bluetooth.html#SettingUp
Once the bootloader for the Asus Transformer Prime is unlocked, what do we plan to do with it? I know the obvious answer is "Build Custom Roms", but I want to know more of what is expected to be accomplished with this new power we will be able to control!! I heard that we may be able to fully install Ubuntu once this this is unlocked. I want this thread to be about all the details we want to change with the prime to make it better, faster, and stronger. If we get a large list of opinions on what we want out of this thing, we can help developers get an idea on how they can make this Ipad killer perfect. Please make as many creative ideas as you can because it will always help improve the prime more
Don't mean tl rain on your parade as this is a good idea BUT a developer already created a thread just like this and its matured alot already. Very well put together also. You probably would be better posting your ideas n such in that thread. Ill try to find link.
But yes, unlocked bootloader will mean you can dual boot Ubuntu or whatever else flavor of Linux comes out. We already have Fedora also.

Hi All,
I've been kicking around rooting and s-off for a while. But I have very little experience with this. I rooted my Hero way back when but nothing since and have forgotten most of what I learned. I recently had to hard reset my EVO LTE and it seems now would be a good time.
I know that the developers are directing all support requests to their IRC channel but the stuff I am not sure about is the actual execution of the directions... using terminal and fastboot. Their directions assume you already know all this stuff.
I have spent a lot of time reading different sources. Making sure I have the tools. I have the Live CD and have booted with it. Extracted the Dirty Racun files using terminal on a microSD card I was going to swap into the phone. But still feel unsure about my knowledge to execute the process.
Can someone point me to the info I need to do this with more detail about how to actually execute the directions. I know search is your friend and I have... but there is a lot of information. It is a bit overwhelming.
Thanks...

Hey, I just did the s-off/root thing this past weekend, it's my first android and first time rooting but I would suggest keep reading ALL of the relevant threads here and in the other EVO forums until you are ready. I spent 2 weeks reading everything I could get my hands on and when it came time to do it, there was a lot that I wasn't aware of (I didn't realize I had to put my phone in bootloader mode when I started doing Dirty Racun instructions) but you'll just have to figure that stuff out, but just keep reading until you feel ready.
Yes that is the stuff I am worried about. The instructions are definitely for more the experienced.
Any other tips?
I'll try to write a simplistic guide for you tonight.
Sent from my EVO
I just did it for Kao using an old win xp laptop and the windows dirty racing s-off file. Went flawlessly. I did have to run the ruu twice but after that all went well. If you follow the instructions you shouldn't have any problems.

He's saying that done of the instructions were a tad too complex for his liking.

i think you should look for a topic about your pad in the developing topics, how I wish I could have a cm9 on lg l3 e405
Thats the Problem... There is no topic about this pad ... and not listed in cyanogen(get cm) only memo pad from asus that is listed , is the 10 FHD with dualcore.... But it has different Hardware
Looking for Root for ASUS_MeMO_Pad_10_ME102A
I want to install a VNC server so I can remote into the tablet and help my mom out. The ME102A is a steal at $200 for Qaud core 1.6Ghz it seems to perform pretty well for a $200 10.1. So with Stock 4.2.2 I'd like to get root. I searched and can't find any alternative ROMs or root instructions. A lot for the MeMO Pad 7. There isn't any forum for it I guess - can't understand why ...
Sure this pad has really good performance and batterylife is on heavy use also fine... I havn't test the 3d performance, but i think it's not the first priority on such a big pad... Streaming and browsing arround i'm on 9 hours of battery... With round about 6 hours of screen-on-time... I think it's good enough for this pad .. I hope someone of the devs reading this and will bring up some nice Roms..

This pad is not listed on Asus the site. I registered my device and have access to the kernel code, if needed.

Found directions on Youtube, by searching ME102a root. You have to use a chinese root tool. Disclaimer: I did not try this and I did not post the video, try at your own risk.
I User this tool for rooting , it works... my pad is succsessful rooted... but there is no clockworkmod-recovery to find
This tablet has reached some really good prices lately. Lets spark up some dev interest.
Noticed someone has tried to drum up some interest on transformer forums under the ME301T section but no responses yet (can't post link b/c still noob)
How can i make a systemdump from the pad? Does it work on Windows or must i take Linux(ubuntu)?
I want try to build my own custom Rom...

Also found this while browsing...has good recommendations and also one click...so no separate adb etc...
http://www.kingoapp.com/
Edit...
Go to the about in the settings. From there, go to the Software information, and keep hitting the build number until it starts to count down. This unlocks the developer menu, which you need to enable usb debug (ADB).
Asus ME102a (k00F)
Bumping. If you believe the bench-marking apps it ou-tperforms the Galaxy Tab 10.1 for $100 less. It may be this "Rockchip" processor that's holding it back. Sure would love to see some XDA hero succeed where CM has failed.
:good:

I'm also interested to see if anyone has tried these. There is also a starting community over at transformerforums.com.
I just got a notification for an OTA update. Should I hold off on the update until I root or should I root first then update? Is there a standard Android practice regarding OTA and root?
I will wait to update ota , maybe root is gone after this..

Another user just posted this on the transformer forums. I think I'll wait for root until we have a better option.

I did the Asus update which popped up right when i turned the tablet on, then downloaded and ran Kingo One click, and all was rooted and running great in minutes!
So far so good, as long as the problems dont bite me in the butt

Is the REAL issue rooting the device, or unlocking the bootloader?
From what I understand (and am experiencing with my personally owned Acer A3-A20), rooting the device cannot be achieved unless the device's bootloader is successfully unlocked. I have searched numerous forums and posted within their topic threads in hopes to find a successful method for rooting my newly purchased tablet. However, I keep stumbling on the same point: when a device is booted with the manufacturers boot loader sequence, that bootloader must be unlocked using the manufacturer's given method for doing so. I sincerely hope that somebody reading this with the know-how and ability to crack this problem like a boss, or a member of the xda-developer family can dedicate some time and ability into solving an issue that has more than likely sprouted a few gray hairs on my dome-piece. Now, I'm not a developer (yet), nor have I ever unlocked or have ever known how to unlock to bootloader--I am just stating the issue that I keep coming across on the web, assuming that this idea of approach is not only factual, but helpful to my fellow A3-A20 owners. The concept does make sense to me though.
>>> It is extremely likely, that If I don't come across a solution before the next payday, I think that I'm going to return my new purchase toy, for either a Nexus tablet or an ASUS Transformer Book. (It sure will be nice when I finish my B.S. degree and graduate from my Programming & Mobile Application Development program!).

Can someone please grant a fellow Acer patron the courtousy of notifying me of a solution to this issue, at [email protected]? I would sincerely appreciate it. Thanks and good looking out!
Have you guys tried Kingo root? I was able to root my A3-A20 with it.

It seems to work on my Acer A3-A20FHD
