1. uh, it means that you can unlock your bootloader
2. the best way of relocking the bootloader is restoring a ta backup made before ever unlocking your bootloader (to do that you must be rooted, and to root without unlocking you need to have android 4.0.x, there's a more detailed guide on the forums). it's all academic anyway - there's a way to get back the features you normally lose after unlocking and relocking without a backup, while all problems are software (can be fixed at home) or hardware (in which case bootloader status can't be reasonably blamed as a cause or aggravating factor except for damage by gross overclocking)
this post is all in lowercase to balance out the overuse of capital letters in the world.

Do I have a locked or unlocked bootloader? (Neo V)

Sony Xperia Neo V
Stock ROM 4.0.4 (Updated 4.0.3 to 4.0.4 via OTA)
Rooted via DooMLoRD
CWM Recovery installed.
I need to find out if my Xperia Neo V have a locked or unlocked bootloader..?
I have read through different thread and have googled as well, but still was not able to get a concrete answer.
I have never unlocked it myself, not intentionally atleast.
When I check via *#*#7378423#*#*, it says 'Bootloader unlock allowed: Yes'. Some guys around XDA says if its unlocked, it will say ''Bootloader unlocked: Yes' but others say it will show the first one regardless of the lock state.
PC Companion and SUS can detect it just fine and I can repair and update my phone, which leads me to believe its locked.
But then, I can get into flash mode, use flash tool to load different ROMs and also have CWM installed - doesn't it need a unlocked bootloader?
And, if I am on a locked bootloader, what's the advantage of an unlocked one then, what am I missing?
Bootloader unlocked: Yes only means that your fastboot is unlocked, that your phone isn't SIM locked, not that your bootloader is unlocked.
Being able to enter flash mode, flash different rom's, cwm doesn't mean your BL is unlocked.
There are rom's that require custom kernel, if you wanna use those rom's you need to unlock your BL.
Advantage is anything that can be done with custom kernels, mainly overclock, undervolt, change some parameters...
Go to Neo V development section, in one sticky thread you can find s1tool. Get it and identify your phone with it.
Just a fact that you didn't unlock it tells that it's locked. All Xperia phones have locked BL's. All 2011 Xperias with sim lock, have locked fastboot, which means you need to pay to unlock it and by that you enable fastboot and unlock your BL.
Thanks buddy (button pressed). So, unlocked bootloader means warranty gone forever, right? Irreversible?

Well, if you use official method, even if you relock it they can see in service center, when they connect it, it will show that DRM certificate is missing. I'm not saying they will look for that, but it will be visible.
In my opinion patched bl is best option, with s1tool. Also you can relock it. As far as I know nothing will pop up on their PC.
Alright buddy, got the idea. Thanks a lot.

[Q] simplist way to unlock bootloader & root

my brother want me to install a new os for him however he is still on stock kernel and os ect 2.3.4 I believe,
what is the simplest, fastest and safes way to unlock the bootloader of his phone,
furthermore can I use flashtool to root his phone and install other kernals ect,
I have tried *#*#7378423#*#* and it says ''yes'' [as his phone is sim unlocked but I know that he has not unlocked the bootloader himself]
thank you for your time and help in advance :good:
The simplist way to unlock bootloader is the official way.. but you will lose warranty and DRM keys.

[Q] what are DRM codes ?

I have sony xperia s , rooted , unlocked bootloader cm9 , i want back the original firmware from sony ( in my opinoin) i want to relock the boot loader and i want to now what are DRM codes and what i can loose in my phone , and does flashing the original sony firmware through flashtool from this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1723610 , keeps my DRM keys ?
drm keys are lost forever , you cannot reflash it ( the partition where was located it's unacessible from user )
quick google search brought up this ..
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_rights_management
DRM - Digital Right Management
if u lost DRM keys you can't use some apps that using DRM, like trackID
And we can't claim warranty with unlocked bootloader
so the moment i unlocked boot loader i lost my drm keys ?
and does flashing the official ftf from the thread mentioned in the first post boot on unlocked sony xperia s , and does it relock my boot loader or just flash sony's kernel and keeps my bootloader unlocked ?
and is there a cracked app or something to install working track id ?

First No warez here, yes there is an app like soundhound, shazam etc.
Second you can reflash ftf and the bootloader will be still unlocked.

[Q] Quick Questions about Nandroid Backup and Bootloader

1) I have a Nandroid Backup of my phone. If I wanted to restore everything from the backup apart from the kernel how would I go about doing this in CWM? I would like everything thing back such as apps etc but not the kernel
2) Is there a way to check if my bootloader is unlocked or not? Its been a while since I rooted my Xperia and I wanted to check if I unlocked my Bootloader as well or not
Thanks in advance
1) Kernel can't be flashed via recovery in our phone and thus when you restore the backup the kernel is not changed.
2) Type *#*#7378423#*#* in your phone dialer and go to Service info->Configuration and then under rooting status it is shown:
a) If it is Bootloader Unlock Allowed: Yes, then it is not unlocked but you can unlock it.
b) It it is Bootloader Unlock Allowed: No, then it is not unlock and there is a simlock. So you can't unlock it for free but you will have to pay some bucks to remove simlock and get fastboot enabled, maybe with wotanserver or omnius but there's no guarantee.
c) If it is Bootloader Unlocked: Yes, then your bootloader is unlocked
Next time please post these kinda threads in Q/A section.
Best Regards,
AJ

[solved] [ADVICE] Sending back my ray to repairs

I need to send my ray for repairs, but i rooted it, so i flashed the official .587 yesterday, and PCC is duped .
Is there anything else i need to check before sending it to repairs?
Thanks in advance!
Have you unlocked bootloader on it?
If no after rooting flashing full ftf does bring it back to original condition

How to check if the bootloader is unlocked?
Type this *#*#7378423#*#* go to service info > Confguration.
See what is written under rooting status..
If it says:
Bootloader Unlock Allowed : No, it means bootloader is not unlocked and can't be unlocked(with any free method)
Bootloader Unlock Allowed : Yes, it means bootloader is not unlocked but it cud be unlocked.
Bootloader Unlocked : Yes, it means bootloader is unlocked.
Cheers,
AJ
Thanks! It says
" Bootloader unlock allowed : Yes"
but there is no Bootloader unlocked line, so i guess i am allowed to unlock the bootloader but i did not do it, so i can send it to sony without problems am i right?
