MP4 - HTC One X+

I can't open any MP4s I downloaded, they show up as "can't open file", and when accessed through root explorer, the media player crashes.
Help appreciated.

Maybe use another media player. I'm using MX player for videos and it plays everything.

[Q] media player

when I try to play avi video I get the error "closed" in media player and the message medai player cant play the file.
the files play on my laptop, and the media player on my HTC plays other files normally.

Use Coreplayer or Tcpmp.

[Q] Streaming .avi over LAN. Can I choose player?

Running VEGAn 5.1.1 and these .avi's begin to play in what must be the default player. After a few seconds they stop and spawn the following message:
"Caching. This media does not support streaming, player will be started after transferring completely."
I'd love to try RockPlayer or some others to see if that helps but I'm accessing these files through ES File Explorer and long pressing the file doesn't give me an option of media player. Nor can I open RockPlayer first and navigate to the .avi as I can't get RP to see any but locally stored media.
Anyone point me in the right direction? Any tips at ALL about streaming over LAN? Thanks loads.
astro and es explorer support wan/lan.
what codec do you have on your avi. i tend to stick with mp4. as those work best.
try remount your sd card and restarting tab
Use CIFSmanager to mount the shared files, then stream away

[Q] Streaming MKV files from Windows Media Centre to Xperia Z tablet

Hi,
Can anyone help with this one?
I've got a few video files in MKV format, which play fine if they are stored on the tablet (SGP311) or on the Micro SD card.
However, when I try to stream MKV files from my Windows Media Center (windows 7) library, I get the message "Cannot Show media. File format not supported"
MP4 files stream ok from the same location, so I'm confused.
I'm using the stock player. I have downloaded MXPlayer, but not worked out how to stream from WMC with that yet.
Can anyone explain why or suggest a solution before I convert the videos over to MP4 format?
thanks
Andy
Are yuou playing it right from wmc? If so, i think its in the software because it has to play within..
If you want to play the video from the location folder you can try gomplayer it plays a lot of video formats (even an mp3 file).. Currently using.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
I'm trying to stream it from the HDD on the wmc PC straight to the tablet.
I've found something now which works well and seems to play everything. Using ES file explorer and mx player as described here.

Use rockplayer. Mxplayer does stream mkv though, you do need a filemanager though.

Click to collapse
I use the DicePlayer, works well
I had the same problem and I didn't figure out what was that.
So I found a cool media streaming app called ArkMC. It supports all video formats. Works smoothly.

[Q] Can't play 3gp video file on my phone and pc. WHY?

I had this app on my phone that could record videos and take pics in secret. I recently bought the app to gain 1/3 access of it's functionality. Started to test the camcorder and looked it up in my sdcard directory. Played the video file but the notice came up as "Unable to play video file". I thought this was something that you can play only on my computer with any player software like Windows Media Player, VLC or Realplayer but GUESS I WAS WRONG. I ported over this "3GP" file from my phone to my computer, chose any video player software that can play this file and all off them failed. Classic Media Player tells me that there's a missing filter, Quicktime can't understand the file, RealPlayer says that I'm missing a "moov atom" and I have this FreeStudio software by DVDVideoSoft and tried to convert it but it told me that "Unable to convert format. File is DRM protected". Can anyone tell me what's going on here and is there anyway without going to some nefarious website for solutions?

Remix OS - application to play DVD

Please does anyone know about some app that can be used to play DVDs ?
My DVD drive seems working fine (can be seen as /dev/block/sr0, can be mounted manually.. BTW I installed Remix using it, as all attempts using usb were failing). But I can't find any application to play DVD video.
I tried Kodi - which has even some settings like "play DVD automatically", but can't find how to make it start playing.
Tried also VLC (which claims support for DVD), but also can't find how to tell it to start playing.
Thanks for any hints..
try using the media player and play the file 'VIDEO_TS.IFO' , see if it works?
I tried opening the VIDEO_TS.IFO or the *.VOB files after manually mounting the dvd using several players - MX player, Kodi, Vlc, BS player, Vlc beta.
MX player does nothing. BS player seems to not work on Remix at all. Kodi looks like tries to do something, but after a moment says error that it can't play the file. Vlc beta dost not work too.
Only Vlc works - it starts playing the .VOB files. There is no DVD menu etc, but at least some progress, thanks
If you have some tips which more video players would be worth trying, please let me know.
pulled this from a forum, give it a whirl and let us know how it goes. Apparently it will allow you to play from a folder or even iso.
With the menus and stuff.
- download Daroon player from Market
- copy VIDEO_TS folder from your DVD to your SD card
- Start Daroon and click on DVD Folders icon.
It will find your VIDEO_TS folder and play it.

I tried the Daroon player. It looks like it tries to start playing the DVD from the VIDEO_TS folder, but immediately returns back to the main menu, without saying any error. But it does the same also on some other normal .avi and other video files - it start playing some, but just returns to menu on others.
