Hi
I've been having problems with my USB mass storage mode. It turns on fine, and I can transfer whatever files I want, but after I'm done and I turn off the USB storage mode, the ROM crashes. I've ejected the phone and the SD card from the computer before switching off the USB storage, but it crashes still.
Is this a known issue or there's something wrong with my phone / me?
Mass storage is been buggy for all kexec based ROMs for Razrs.
I suggest use AirDroid.

Hi, so I'm having an issue with connecting the internal SD of the Atrix to my computer. I noticed after reflashing a 1.57 sbf and updating to 1.83 that when I connected my Atrix to my computer via USB and selected USB Mass Storage, the SD card I have plugged into my Atrix connects just fine, however the internal SD simply does not connect.
If I go into the SD Card and Phone Storage menu in the settings, I can see that the internal storage simply has not unmounted, and for whatever reason goes back and forth between the proper "total space" and "available space" values (~10 and 9 respectively) and 0.00B for both.
Does anyone know what the deal is? It's getting to be a pain having to transfer everything via dropbox :/
The same thing happens to me what's up with that?

Le bump.
Still have the problem :\
Reboots don't help anything, and I can browse both SDs just fine with astro.
I have this problem too. Any way to fix it?
I am having this problem as well. I don't know specifically when it started, but I need to access it badly because I am running out of space (I need to get me backups offloaded to my computer). Using Alien 4 and Faux 1.9.
I've tested both CM v10.1 and ARHD v18.
Neither has a "plain USB storage mode" for the internal/external storage.
I mean, I would expect the phone to behave like a "usual" USB memory stick when plugged into my PC.
Instead I only get MTP and PTP modes which don't work well with my Linux boxes (my house has no windows at all!)
Any advice?

Theres currently no way to use the internal memory as a USB device since it uses the MTP protocol.
However you can use your external SD as a usb device using SGS3 Easy UMS. Check here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1711009
Search on Google, it's a design of jelly bean, decided by Google, to secure internal emmc and to be able to use dynamically all the internal space for data. Internal sdcard is in fact a folder in data folder virtually mounted as a device by android os. On the contrary before that internal sdcard was a separate partition.
That explain why it can't be mounted as usb mass storage, which is only possible with plain partitions.
There are ways to bypass it either with the above mentioned app, either with a tweaked kernel.
While I can understand the limitation for the internal storage, I don't really get the point with the external storage.
The limit just makes things harder: I could eject the uSD and push it into a reader...
By the way, which kernel supports USB storage mode for whatever storage?
I run cm 9 / cm 10.1 .
Thanks.
You can use Easy UMS to mount the external card in mass storage mode
Yes. But why needing an extra app when it is a built-in feature with other (cheaper) phones and ROM?
Why, if the recovery (PhilZ Touch 3) CAN DO IT?
This was my original question, though.
I have a problem with the mass storage Usb fuction on my huawei U8185 (phone does not detect SD card after unpluggin USB cable). I have another stock Rom free from this problem, I want to copy files which correlated with this function on my actual rom, but I don't know which files to replace with the ones from the stock rom. Thank you in advance.
Friends I am back to stock ICS after a long time and my laptop is not detecting my phone's storage. How to mount internal SD?
what is the os of your laptop? some os doesn't support mtp connections
My bad, forgot to uncheck 'USB Debugging'.........everything fine now.
Hi all!
Does anybody know, if it is possible to connect LG G5 (both internal memory and external sd card) in the simplest USB mass storage mode without root?
I really miss this option since my car stereo (VW RNS-510) can read files from USB mass storage and can't from MTP.
Thank you!
