Once you unlock your bootloader without backing up ta, BOOM! Your DRM keys are gone FOREVER. There is a way to get bravia engine to work it is somewhere in our device general forum, go search for it. And DO NOT restore another device TA as it would result in HARD BRICK.

I have sony xperia s , rooted , unlocked bootloader cm9 , i want back the original firmware from sony ( in my opinoin) i want to relock the boot loader and i want to now what are DRM codes and what i can loose in my phone , and does flashing the original sony firmware through flashtool from this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1723610 , keeps my DRM keys ?
drm keys are lost forever , you cannot reflash it ( the partition where was located it's unacessible from user )
quick google search brought up this ..
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_rights_management
DRM - Digital Right Management
if u lost DRM keys you can't use some apps that using DRM, like trackID
And we can't claim warranty with unlocked bootloader
so the moment i unlocked boot loader i lost my drm keys ?
and does flashing the official ftf from the thread mentioned in the first post boot on unlocked sony xperia s , and does it relock my boot loader or just flash sony's kernel and keeps my bootloader unlocked ?
and is there a cracked app or something to install working track id ?

First No warez here, yes there is an app like soundhound, shazam etc.
Second you can reflash ftf and the bootloader will be still unlocked.

I'm not sure is DRM keys deleting after the unlock bootloader. How can I know it? Because my Xperia U TrackID, Download music info was working fine after unlock bootloader. Before the unlock bootloader, I backup my TA partition via flashtool 0.9.10.1. Its like 136KB size file. Then again I backup TA partition by using flashtool 0.9.11 after the unlock bootloader. Its the same size (136KB) as before backup.
So I want to know is there way to find DRM keys deleted or not?
Sorry for Grammar mistakes & bad English.
Thank you!

How about the bravia engine? does that still work? is there a colour change when you view images on stock album app?
Wait a minute..
Yes there is a way to see if they are present. You have to go to the phones services menu by dialing ether this *#*#7378423#*#* or this *#*#197328640#*#* then Service tests -> Security then there should be something like this if they are present:
Code:
MARLIN [[COLOR="Green"]Key OK[/COLOR]][Active]
WMLA[[COLOR="Green"]Key OK[/COLOR]][Not active]
Well, at least on my xGO thats the way to see it. Thanks to taboo5200 for letting me know that.

1) Give it a try. Should work on all xperia devices.
2) Yes you can. Since xperia go got official jb update and you don't have to unlock your bootloader to install jb, there is no problem. You can backup keys with both ics and jb
3) If you unlock your bootloader you will void your warranty in any case. Backup ta partition will not make you loose bravia engine when after unlocking your bootloader you want to relock it. Won't save your warranty this mod

Thanks for your reply you have cleared all my doubts but another question if i restore the ta partition and relock bootloader i have my warranty back correct?
It doesn't matter afaik restoring ta partition to get back your warranty (maybe I am wrong though). What really does matter is relocking the bootloader.

You can be right(I'm the noob XD) but i have read if you not backup the ta partition your warranty is void. So relocking the bootloader is insuficient, you have to relock bootloader and restore the ta partition .
The tool creator said:"Backup TA can backup and restore the TA partition of the device. When you create a backup before unlocking for the first time, then you will be able to restore to full factory state (including a locked bootloader). This means all DRM keys intact, Bravia Engine working in Album and last but not least your warranty when needed":good:

I already read this thread mate, that's because I told you that I could be wrong.
Ok then, there is no reason for not trusting the tool creator. Just root and use this tool. Save and put keys in a safe folder and enjoy

You're welcome mate, it's a pleasure. For any further help let me know.
I've heard that unlocking using Sony's method gives a bootloop. So we should use flashtool for unlocking the bootloader.
And the important thing, to use bravia engine even after unlocking bootloader that is not losing drm keys.
I read somewhere in xda that by making a ta backup, we can use bravia engine after relocking bootloader.
So I want to ask you all does there exist a chance of bricking my device forever while unlocking bootloader?
If so please give me some suggestions to avoid that!
If you can give me some tips while unlocking, it will be nice...
Btw I wanna flash cm11 in my xperia go
will DRM keys will be gone if i root my Z2 without unlocking bootloader?
if yes then can we get back the keys ?

no you wont lose your DRM keys if you dont unlock bootloader, and in case you want to unlock it later you can always backup your TA partition for restoring it when you need. please see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292598
but you definitely need root to backup your TA.
