So I have one screen with my direct dial contacts on it. For each contact I have a different picture. When I reboot my phone the contacts are still there but the picture on some of them goes back to default icon. Which is a blank person. But under my contacts the picture I have set for each contact is still there. So I don't know why it keeps going back to default.

I put handcent onto my phone and only about 4 out of 25 contact pics actually show up, I have ones that are pulled directly from fb, others are in the phone, neither show up, the 4 that do show up are from fb but others from fb dont show up, anyone else have this problem? I like the fact that on a mms you can actually zoom in and out of the picture unlike the default messenger but want contact pictures, any ideas?

i had this problem too. what it was for me was a actual contacts issue. i had plenty of contacts from my SIM card that were being pulled when i wrote a new text message and the SIM contact was the one being used, and we all know SIM contacts don't hold pictures.
The same thing happened when people messaged me. The SIM contact would be utilized and the text would come with the name but no contact picture.
Solution you ask? DO what i'm doing, which seems to be working: Import all you sim contacts to the phone, delete all your sim contacts, then proceed to nicely cleanup all your contacts (whichever way you like, i prefer manually but there's apps i think for this), and make sure your contacts are all google based.
I'm doing it this way, and i percieve to never have to use the sim card again for contacts, until the day i stop using a google-enabled phone, then i'll just copy the contacts to the phone before i switch.
To the point: now all my handcent sms lists showc ontact pictures.
how did you bring all the Google contacts to be saved to the phone vs being synced....I'm searching through the phone but not finding it.

if by "saved to the phone" you mean that i could see the same contacts on my phone, with a little "g" icon, that i could in my gmail account viewed through a desktop web browser, then i think you need to set your phone to view ALL the contacts it possibly can.
contacts-->menu-->display options--> check everything under "choose contacts to display"
now clean all that mess up. I'm just about done cleaing up all mine to just google contacts (all my contacts, when everything is checked, have the little "g" icon to denote being synced with my gmail account i believe)
I had the same issue where my contact profile pics wouldn't show on handcent as I received/sent out txt messages due to the contacts saved on my SIM. I just took out my SIM put it in my old phone and did a mass deletion of my contacts that were on there. Put the SIM back in my Vibrant, now all the profile pics show when receiving or sending out a txt.

damn! good thinking! i called my local tmobile store and asked if they could wipe my sim, but htey said no, and it'll cost $20for a new sim. bah! i just did it myself lmao.
Guys, i have a problem with this ROM. It's related to PHONE.apk. Every time i try to add a contact it goes to GOOGLE CONTACTS and not the phone contacts. Even when i restored my vcard it only shows google contacts when i clic on the contact tabs. Is there a way to see the PHONE contacts and not google contacts ??
In the display options there is no option for display only the PHONE CONTACTS

Nope. I just don't know how to display only the phone contacts. There is no option for that.

You could try using an alternate dialer.
Can you give a hint on one?
For my phone, i just go to the contacts screen press the left button and select "display options". In that screen you should be able to select "only contacts with phones" and it won't show any of your contacts that are just email addresses, or twitter, etc
I have V4.5.7. though so I'm not sure if it would be different.

The only fix is to get a photo that is bigger in size that looks good because small photos are stretched to the same size..

That didn't help...
What happens is that if you are trying to assign a photo to a contact, you have to crop it. Once you crop it, and the contact calls you, the photo looks all blurred.
I thought it was because I was assigning it to my gmail account and not my phone, but it still had a cropped/blurry photo regardless
Does cm7 fix this or is MOTOBLUR the reason why it does this.?

Google is changing the resolution of the pic when you sync your contacts with google.
You have to unsync your contacts with your google account, delete all the caller id pics, and re assign new ones. And only keeping your contacts in your phone. The second you sync them with google, they mess up the pics again. Only save your contacts on your phone.

Most of my favorites I display on my people widget are linked between my google contacts and facebook profiles. No matter how many times I change them to display the google contact pic, it always changes back to their facebook profile pic after a little while.
Searched high and low with no luck. Have had the problem with stock rooted and mean-rom.
Any ideas?
I've had to go into each "favorite" contact and manually change them from facebook picture to google picture of the contact.

Yep, I've done that at least a dozen times, but It will revert back to the facebook pic. Let know if it stays for you.
I can't isolate the problem either. It seems to keep it on restart. I will even keep it when I restart sense.
My thinking is the facebook sync is overriding my settings, but I dont' know how to stop it from overriding. I still want all of my other contact to sync up...
Haxsync, sync contacts then manually select the contacts you don't want to update and turn off Facebook syncing.

According to the settings, it doesn't look like it would do what I want. But I installed it a few days ago, and everything now works how I like it to.
couple questions, on my phone it has email contacts from my google shows up with my phone number conacts also will pull up there names when im searching a similar names can i get rid of them, i only want phone contacts to show?
when using picasa with a "ZOE" pic or movie will it save the same playback way it is on the phone and would it just save under a video?

For contacts goto contacts click the three dots and check only show contacts with phone numbers
