[Q] Pogo Pins don't work with the ViperMax Rom - HTC One Max

I got my HTC One Max 2 weeks ago from Verizon and I rooted it right away. Flashed a clean ViperMax rom and it was awesome. Loved the rom with all of the extra features. However, I bought a HTC Power Flip Case which is part case and part external battery, but it didn't seem to work on my phone. I used the case on another HTC One Max that was on stock rom and it appeared to work. I then reverted my phone back to stock but still rooted and the case worked. The case uses the pogo pins on the back of the phone to charge it. I really liked the ViperMax rom, but obviously I'd prefer to use the case since it cost $80. Does anyone else experience the same problems?

Sorry to hear, maybe a fault with you device. I run that rom and have the case, works as intended. I actually get two days use with it.

Really? I'll have to try that out when I get home tonight then. Like I said, I loved that Rom and my device isn't defected since when I flashed stock rom it worked. I even wiped everything and reinstalled it with no such luck. I'll post back later with my results.

Maybe it just has a modded battery sign that doesn't show the plus sign but is actually working.......just a thought

That's a great thought, but I wish that it's not the case. I'd like to know if it's actually working rather than hope that it is.

I just got my power flip I'll load viper and report back

Doesn't show anything I really think it's the icon and not an actual issue only way to tell is do full drain comparisons
Sent from my HTC6600LVW using xda app-developers app

If you read the thread @Vinchenzop specifically says he has the power flip case and it works with the ROM, it's just that it doesn't show on the icon.

Josh.m is correct that I have the case and obviously in using my own rom. The heavily modded system won't allow for the notice of "power case" to show because you can change the battery icon on the fly. Even people without the case could make that specific battery icon appear.
Trust when I say that it does work. Without my case I barely get a day of work in without needing a charger. With the case I get at least a days work with heavy phone use.

That's great news! I'll be flashing the ViperRom today!

Any chance anyone knows the which pogo pin is for what. I'd like to make a diy charger, but I'd need the specs.

Anyone else have phantom screen presses?

Anyone else having instances where their phone starts doing stuff by itself when the screen is on? I use the SHOW TOUCHES option in developer options and it shows the screen registering multiple touches all over the screen when I'm not touching it. Started happening recently, which is odd because nothing has changed. Phone is stock.
Do you have a case on the phone? Might be dirt, debris, or moisture between the case and the screen. Remove case, clean the case edges and edge of the screen.

Your phone is possessed.
Did you try flashing different rom?
Sent from my lair.
Sounds similar to the issue some people were having with the E4GT. I know my wife's previous phone (E4GT) had issues with the menu opening on its own and it didn't matter whether or not she had a case on it. First I've heard of this issue on the EVO LTE.

Usually that means the digitizer is going bad (assuming there is no liquid damage inside your phone).I would try a hard reset first and if that doesn't work take it to a S&R center.
If you take it to a Sprint Service and Repair center and you are paying for ESRP or TEP on your monthly bill, then they will replace the display or your phone for free. If you're not paying for ESRP or TEP, a corporate store will charge you $35 to fix or replace it, a third party store will usually charge you $35 plus the price of the part.

From what I've read, your symptom of phantom screen presses may be a sign of some form of malware on your phone. I would suggest taking a close look at the apps running. I'm not sure however what tools would be useful to discover the culprit. A factory reset would, obviously, clear the problem item. Good luck!
Wow theres quite a bit of respsonses... Nonetheless, I am almost certain that you are having a kernel issue. Which then translates to a voltage/ground issue.
As some people stated, the OG Evo did have some problems with voltages. IE, on my Evo OG, I would sometimes not be able to pull down the menu (happened to ALOT of people not just me), and i decided to run a wire from the battery terminal (on the ground). After doing this, i had an exposed wire hanging out. Now the problem would still persist, i couldnt bring down the menu. However, if i TOUCHED the wire, my menu bar would work just fine. Once I stopped touching the wire (ungrounded) the menu bar would not work.
A little while after that, there was a kernel with tweaked voltages. I flashed this kernel, and my menu bar ALWAYS worked fine (without the wire trick)... Pretty sure it was one of Chad.Goodman's kernels.
Needless to say, a little while after, HTC released an update with an updated kernel, and no one ever had that problem again.
Take my advice, root your phone (it is much safer, secure, and private to have a rooted phone than not, but I won't get into the specifics here). After having rooted it, flash the AwesomeSauce 2.3 kernel (its over at themikmik forums). You won't need to S-OFF you can just use the S-ON installer. I would recommend using the lowest overclockable ( 1.7ghz)
If, after this, your phone still has the problem, your phone is defective. In which case, you can RUU it, and it will be back to stock. Either way, Sprint does not care about you being rooted. The only thing they CAN do is tell you that rooting your phone is not recommended, and they will flash your phone back to stock. So you do not have to worry about rooting.
Thanks. I'm familiar with rooting. Just dislike dealing with bugs and/or missing stuff now that im too busy to keep track of them. To me, this looks like a hardware issue (like someone mentioned with the ground). Going to hard reset this weekend and monitor. I can't find a good way to reproduce it at will for tep replacement yet.

Ok, I'm pretty sure this is a hardware failure, given that now the touchscreen doesn't work in the middle either. FUN!

[Q] Which ROM's currently support MHL?

Now that AR Liberator is functional, I've finally taken the plunge and ordered an AppRadio 2 and I'll be able to do something with an Android device that should have been done eons ago...fully integrate it for use in the car.
My question is, which Custom ROM's currently support MHL connections to other devices? The MHL connection is vital for device mirroring. Any info on the subject is greatly appreciated.
Sent from my One XxX powered HTC Rezound using xda premium
First, the rezound will not send audio over MHL. So just be aware of that.
Second, any sense 3.6 ROM is almost guaranteed to work. Everything else, forget about it. Won't work.
Yep, fully aware. Audio is generally done with the cord or Bluetooth.
Figured as much...poop . Stock rooted plus Go Launcher (for the landscape function) is not cool at all. I'm almost sick and in tears thinking about it...

Any of the 3.6 ROMs work, but its better if you use a Launcher that supports landscape. I was using Neo's Adrenaline with Nova Launcher and the latest Funky Kernel. ARL works really well with that set up. Recently drove 15+ hours with minor issues. It's still a work in progress...still trying to figure out a way to power the MHL adapter and keep the phone charged. Once I get things finalized, I'll post the results.

Switch to a kernel that supports fast charging, that may do the trick.
This app might help too, not sure if it works on our phones, it kills the phone's screen on HDMI connect - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1934495).

I'd try the S3 section for rom suggestions, we are all HTC Rezound users here.
Anyway a fast charge kernel let's you force the kernel to AC charge mode, otherwise it will only draw 500ma.

I've been using Snuzzo's latest. With Incredicontrol (wonderful app BTW, the best of the CPU controller apps), you can set it for fast charge. Trust me, it's an issue with my set up...I'm doing something non standard . The set up that I have in our Odyssey is standard (Pioneer MHL kit, EdoTech power supply). It charges with no issues.
The screen standby app is a must! Been using it since v1.4, no issues on the Rezound...once you learn how to work around the bugs. My wife's s3...that's a different story.

The only ROMs I've used on the the s3 w/ARL are TW based. I'm assuming that any of the TW based ROMs work. Couldn't recommend one over the other...way too many to count. I'm not certain that any of the AOSP ROMs support MHL. I've heard that CM10 does, but don't quote me on that.
When it comes to the s3, I would not recommend it with ARL. The snow issues are hit and miss, so much so that they make it virtually unusable. I've tried several adapters, and have not been successful with any of them, including the official Sammy ones.
Check the link for the site that mjones73 posted earlier. That's the place to go for ARL

The biggest thing is the set up, which is understandable since it's HK based. Once it's dialed in, it's pretty sweet. The only real issue that I've had was GPS lock in navigation. Fixing the permissions and and applying an older GPS fix cured it. Not sure which fixed the problem, since I did them at the same time, but it works.

Hi Everyone,
Just got my Appradio 3 and was wondering if there is any updated information on ROMs that support MHL on the rezound...It appears to be working on the stock 3.6 sense ROM for me....but i am looking for less bloat or even a newer interface/gui. I have tried and love CarbonRom by Snuzzo but that did not work with MHL. Any advice for ROMs with MHL compatibility?
Thanks!

[Q] S-pen loose in slot?

Hey guys, so I picked up a galaxy note 2 the other day and it's been great but after a few days I noticed the the vibrate had gotten louder and different sounding and I figured out that it is caused by the s-pen rattling when the phone vibrates because it feels slightly loose in the slot because i can kind of move it back and forth when it is in there and I was wondering if anyone else was having the same problem? or if not I might go swap devices at the store if I'm the only one with the issue. Thanks

I had this same issue on my other phone. I swapped it out due to speaker issues, and my second phone doesn't have the same issue. On my previous phone, my friend tried to jam the S-Pen back in the slot without putting it in the proper direction. Anyways, I used the S-Pen a lot initially and now barely use it. I'm wondering if those who say they have a snug s-pen fit, utilize the s-pen a lot?
Anyways, i'd take it back if you can. If it was with assurion/replacement, i'd just say deal with it because most likely it'll happen again if you use the s-pen a lot.
Im still within the first 14 days of having it so I believe I can exchange it for a new one

I'd do it then.
Usually I never buy with insurance, but with all the issues that the Note2 has I bought it this go around.
But I still think this issue will pop up again with constant S-Pen use.
Thats what I was thinking.. because it didn't start happening until after a few days of having it, in which I played around with the s pen a good amount.. but if other people dont have the issue I would rather not have it either because I text a lot and when it rattles on 60% of them it gets a bit annoying

Like I said, the people above didn't comment on their usage though of the S-pen... I barely use it now, and it is in there pretty snug. When I first got the phone before the swap, I used the pen for everything.
So I have had the issue, but on the new phone not yet. May as well do the exchange... though if you can.
Im not even sure anymore.. I used a buddies phone today and sent myself 10 texts and it didnt do it on any of them but then I had anothee friend send me 10 and it did it on 5/10 of them

Wireless charging stoped

So all of a sudden my wife's dna is having problems charging wirelessly. It will charge a minute then stop a few minutes then charge a minute more, and so on. So in effect she cannot charge wirelessly any more.
I have read very little about this problem but what i have read is all hardware.
She is unlocked, rooted, s-off, viper 1.1.3 on latest radio.
Questions
1. Has anyone else saw this problem?
2. Is it fixable?
3. If not is it worth a return for a dna that could be un- un-lockable?
4. If we did replace it, do i really need to ruu, re-lock first..?... i mean if its gonna say relocked whats the point.

I had trouble with both these chargers myself. My problem however was they would both charge phone perfectly with very little heat for about 4 or 5 hours, THEN at 99% charge the phone would heat up in the next hour or two to 132 degrees F which at that point, phone shut itself off and smelled like burning plastic. Neither of the chargers would "kick out" at all, and like I said they worked perfectly to 99%, but I kept waking up to a red hot powered down phone. I suspect it was the phone, but I still believe some incompatibilities exsist. Many reports of problems with wireless charging on these phones. As far as answering the op questions, can't help much. I will try the orb one of these days.

Help needed. DNA wont boot/charge

Hello,
If anyone can save me a couple hundred bucks that I dont have, I would appreciate it.
Im running an S-OFF Unlocked DNA with
This rom - http://forum.xda-dev...d.php?t=2141129
and this kernel - http://forum.xda-dev...d.php?t=2021714
I've been running it without issues for two weeks. Today it just wouldnt turn on. It doesnt accept a charge. Ive gotten the white HTC screen to come on for a second a couple times, and I've gotten it to boot up fully once. But after the screen timed out, it wouldn't come on again.
Any help would be appreciated. Dont have money to buy another phone.
I've tried searching. Most people that have boot issues can at least get to a bootloader or recovery screen. I cannot.
Have you tried letting it charge for a long while? I've heard it takes some times up to fifteen minutes for the charging led to even lit.

well. I've got the back cover off. Watching some youtube videos to figure out where the battery connector is. Do you happen to know which it is?

I personally have never opened up this phone so I wouldn't know. But this is a suggestion that worked for someone else and has also worked when my nexus 7 did a similar act. It wouldn't indicate it was charging and wouldn't turn on but disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it worked for me. I doubt it's something to do with software as you said your set up was working fine for 2 weeks. I'm pretty sure this should fix it for you.

Well, I got the battery disconnected and reconnected. Even though the battery sits under the motherboard, the battery has a thin connector that its accessible without removing anything else. It doesnt appear that my problem has been fixed. I guess I wont ever know, my screwdriver slipped off the screw and connected with a pin on the board and sparked. Pretty sure I just shorted the whole thing.
Claim insurance or warranty. It sounds like a hardware problem if that didn't fix it.

I should mention it was jtagged. Not saying that was the root cause. But the inside of the phone is definitely different than a stock one. Mobiletechvideos.com put a different film on it than the one it came with. Any chance of warranty or insurance is out.
You can still try to claim it. Most of the time they aren't looking inside the phone. Though this really isn't your fault. It sounds like the hardware failed and that is why it wouldn't charge and boot. But we won't know now. I don't know how jtag works but it could have contributed to it.

I guess i could still try. Should they happen to figure it out, would they contact me before fixing, replacing, or charging me? I guess thats the part I'm worried about.
I believe they would probably just charge you. Not really sure how it works. I have never paid for insurance and I have never broken my phones.
Take a look at this.

Thanks for the link
Also, IT WORKED! I tried turning it on this morning and it booted fine. I got into recovery and flashed rooted stock. Everything is normal again.

Open up the phone and try disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it if you feel comfortable doing that. I suggested that to a user having the same problem as you and that fixed it a couple of days ago.

Just to add my 2 cents,
I have sent back phones to verizon and asurion for issues and every phone except one was rooted and never had an issue. I even traded in my thunderboolt towards the dna when it came out (they offered me $72.00) and all i did was uninstall superuser/busybox & titanium backup right in front of the rep and my fiance then handed it right to the guy on the spot. He turned it on, made sure the touch screen worked & then said ok, you get full trade in price.
As for the other phones that I sent in, droid eris, incredible and 2 samsung, all with one issue or another, never once did they charge me or call or anything. Got the new phone next day, sent the old one in and thats it. I have never had an issue.
Now I know this may not have happened for every one but I think if you just send it in via mail and not have an instore rep look at it, you will never have an issue. I think if an in store rep sees an issue and realize its rooted, they may flag it in case it goes in for verizon replacement or asurion replacement but just a normal send in should not cause an issue.
