a new development : Data is repellent to a particular GSM network only otherwise it is doin fine with other carriers. Though i have been using data on the same network from the past 1 year which now has stopped workin for some unknown reason ...

tried 2 different carriers and data is working flawlessly on them 1 Reliance and 2 Aircel

weird that you cant access that menu...i have on any rez rom ive been on...and thats almost all of em... as for data...i actually may have a clue...for the airtel thats being buggy write out your full apn list from name all the way down to apn roaming protocol....this will be found in settings>More (under wireless and networks)>Mobile Networks>Access Point Names. I'm almost 99% sure its something wrong in this and ill more than likely be able to get data back for you....also may help to upgrade to 4.0.5 as it supports better global gsm features

... tried gaining s-off on stock ICS which failed so i flashed Sense XP 1.2 and run rumrunners again. it went on pouring and i noticed phone kept on rebooted every time it showed beats audio for about a sec and then rumrunner showed some "pray ...... run rumrunner again".
its saying s-off in bootloader but sense xp 1.2 is still rebooting. even clean flashing it again didnt have success. now trying stock ruu
as for APN for Airtel, its 'airtelgprs.com' only ...
EDIT : Bingo. Phone S-Off now, on stock ICS, Radio 2.22.
Now please guide me to update my Radios to the latest.

ok give me a secon on giving you proper ruu files and radio images as i have a full guide that goes from gb all the way to latest firmware and radios...as for apn i was right...if thats all you have set...give me a few and ill write out everything you should have for proper data on Airtel

nothing wrong with the apn. same apn works for everybody else too but may be there is something i dont know ...

sense xp is pretty outdated..and also because airtel may have recently changed certain things within its carrier...for example with straight talk's ATT card here in americs it used to be att.mvno for apn then they switched to tfdata about a year ago...may want to look on their website for your country area

WiFi works fine but after upgrading my Eternity ROM I get a "no service" notice and can't make phone calls, etc.

Believe me, I have no clue how. But it happens. Maybe some phones were Hyundais from the early 90's in another life...
Some people have found success by mixing/matching cdma and lte radios, so I'd start with that. Maybe someone else with more experience will pick up this thread and have a quick answer for you in the am... Sorry I can't help more.

Mine was made in Serbia from used Yugo parts, I think?

And it's fixed, I flashed one of the earlier radios and all is well. I have no idea why it wouldn't take the later radios????
I can't post to the dev forum, so maybe someone over here can help:
I tried the PA ROM, because I really love the hybrid mode. The ROM has worked fine and looks great, but whatever version I flash, the mobile network, both data and phone, simply doesn't work.
It briefly connects to my provider (drei.at) and immediately disconnects, no matter whether I have data connection enabled or not.
Have tried this with all available versions of PA and did the usual routine: wipe, format system, wipe data. I even went totally back to a stock ROM, tried various modems, the current one being XXDLH9, which works just fine on [email protected] 0.6 ROM.
Had the same problem with Omega, FoxHound, and god knows what other ROMs I tried. No matter what, the only JB ROM actually working is [email protected] 0.6, that's it.
Is this a known phenomenon or have I overlooked something obvious?
The phone used to be a branded and simlocked Austrian T-Mobile, but ever since it has been debranded and SIM unlocked.
Any ideas?
All i can suggest is your apn settings?
Can try Offline SIM APN Database (get on Google Play) to insert the correct apn settings.

Thank you for the suggestion. The APN settings on a fresh install, all wiped, are correct and the same as in a working setup.
Any other ideas? Am I really the only one with that problem?

Step after that is to install an official stock rom .

Did a factory reset, totally clean install with everything wiped.
Also, did a clean wipe and installed official stock ROM. Lost root, started from scratch and still didn't work.
I'd love to post in the ROM forums, but haven't yet posted my mandatory 10 postings.. Maybe this thread helps me to reach that limit

No, that's not what I said. Stock ROMs work just fine; I actually just flashed the latest leak (DLI5) and had no problems with the network. The problem hasn't changed, so it's what I wrote in the OP: Only JB to work ist latest leak and [email protected] 0.6. All others can be installed but have not network connection other than WiFi.

Have you tried flashing a new baseband? i had the same problem, when flashing the franco. Kernel..
or, go back stock, then reflash the desired ROM
EDIT: If it helps, I speak/write fluent german ('Cause I live in germany ^^)

Yes, I have been playing around with all kinds of basebands, trying to flash modems etc. but that does not seem to be the reason for it. I have had different modems working and the very same modems simply did not work with PA at all. Best example ist yesterday's leak DLI5 which I flashed and had a virgin like system working just fine with my network. I then flashed the PA ROM, which then had the same baseband as the latest stock ROM, but, alas, same story: No network.
The weird thing is the brief connect it always shows in the status bar. It lasts roughly 4-5 seconds and then disconnects again, only showing the empty network status display.
It really sucks, because I find the idea of hybrid ROMs really appealing, in fact, this seems to me as a truly superior way of making use of the 720p display.
Need to try logcat next to see whether the connect/disconnect somehow can be monitored from there. Will report on that.

Nearly the same prob to me! I loose data if I change my location, also provider "3" in Austria! Stock is working, CM10 nightly also. I tried different Modems tomorrow the ODIN Leak.

I was having the same issue, I pulled the SIM and wiped it down, blew off the contactors, seems to of solved the problem for the time being.
WiFi works, Mobile Networks do not

I just installed ParanoidAndroid. I'm kind of a noob to all of this.
I understand some, but not all.
My mobile networks are not working.
I don't get any notification at the top of the screen either saying I'm on a mobile network.
I've messed around with the APN settings. It seems that every now and then it'll connect for a brief moment, but I can't really do anything unless I'm connected to WiFi.
Any help would be appreciated.

Turns out I just had crappy reception at home.
I wanted to get 3+ but something got in the way and had to go with the 2.+
Sorry for not understanding, but what is AOSP? I see that, but I don't get what is what.
ASOP = Android Open Source Project.. They are best but not that much good at battery
Spend some time on xda and Google your doubts.. You'll surely understand everything from android
Hi everybody!
Yesterday, I applied a custom rom to my Galaxy Note and after a successful installation, my data plan wasn't working like it used to be.
I have to say this isn't the first time I have done this, and in the previous opportunities after flashing the rom and rebooting, the EDGE/3G icon appeared by itself detecting my data plan. I never had to configure the APN settings (like it is said in many posts I have seen here).
So, when I realize that it wasn't working properly, I re-flashed the rom but didn't worked. So then, I downloaded the ICS stock rom and flashed it through Odin, hoping it would reset all things here and would give me the initial configuration, but that didn't work either.
I have entered through settings and deactivated/activated the options related to mobile data, but that icon never appears or my data connection showed up.
Forgot to mention that this phone was unlocked through cellunlocker by code, and that I can make phone calls with no problem and also the Wifi works fine... And thank you in advance for any advice/help that you could make
If it's happening with different ROMs then take a look at your modem (baseband). Are you using I717UCLF6? Go to System Settings-About Phone-Baseband Version.
Like ^^^^ said, and you didn't say it, but I'm guessing T-Mobile. So flash any ROM you like, reboot and let but settle in, then flash the Blaze 4G or whatever T-Mobile modem works best for you.

How come my AT&T I 717 will not register on the simple mobile network it is rooted and flashed with Blackstar X ROM I've tried many radios it used to connect I actually had it working for about 6 months now but when I reflashed the new software it shows simple mobile in the mobile networks and the APN settings are correct but it will not connect to the network under settings about phone it shows my phone number and my IMEI both are correct I have tried flashing the stock rom with Odin the t-mobile stock rom with Odin with the boot file I've tried flashing several modems blaze kids most of the time under mobile network it will only show T Mobile or AT&T somehow right now it only shows simple mobile but it will not register on the network I'm pulling my freaking hair out somebody help

Troll much help or dont but grammar really was using talk to txt yes the bill is paid I have had the phone for 7 months rooted on an old blackstar rom without issues.
It wasn't until I reflashed the phone that the problem started Plus simple mobile doesn't blacklist phones they don't even record IMEI

Please borrow an at&t sim that you know works. Reboot the phone and give it a minute.
Check wireless settings to see if mobile data is checked.

it does the same thing with an AT&T sim card it says not registered on network and cannot connect try again later
the at&t sim card I used is not currently active but when stuck in an unlocked GSM razor it will allow me to make phone calls 2 611

That is much better. Sounds like the issues past T-mobile users have gone through. I believe what they had to do was reinstall the stock ROM via odin, reroot, see if they can get registered on the network with the ATT modem first, and then flash the appropriate modem for simple mobile.

Start with Blaze for ICS. That works on just about all roms for i717 on tmobile.

Also T-mobile was a typo im on simple mobile hats my problem i cannot get the phone to register on the simple mobile network and calling those morons does not help

Dont know how funny this is by I bought a spare i717 on craigslist today flashed the Tmobile SGH-T879 rom and boot file in odin. Then I flashed the blaze ics modem and woot works. So I thought just repeat process wipe phone with cwm recovery boot into download mode and load tmobile img flash blaze ics and it would work still will not register? wth
But you can't tell how many flashes the phone has had, and what junk is in there. That is why someone suggested you return the phone to stock to make a fresh start.
So got my phone rooted and ready to accept a custom ROM. Now what ever ROM I flash I get no cellular data. Only when I am on WIFI do I get data. On my status bar it shows my LTE connection to T-Mobile with a ! in it. Am I supposed to flash or do something else when flashing a ROM? I used the latest version of TWRP 3.0.2-0
OK if I revert back to the stock Oxygen OS 2.2.1 ROM it now works fine. What would cause flashing a custom ROM not to have signal?
No data means ur using the wrong cm13 version(i have no data problems on ashwins build.) or maybe your apns just arent configured. Google for your provisers apn configs and set them manually. Also validate that you can see your IMEI on the phone.

AW OK got what you mean Downloaded Beanstalk CM13 still same problem. Flashes fine then I have no data no signal at all from T-Mobile. Only the stock Oxygen OS ROM works.
Just gave up. Went back to Stock recovery and stock ROM and locked my boot loader. Everything now works as intended. Not sure why all 10 ROM's I tried would flash and load fine but I would have no cell signal strange....
If you need to manually set APN settings go to Settings > SIM cards > SIM 1 settings > APN config.
There click on one APN-setting in the list to open it. Change everything you need, including the name (example: name: Hollandsnieuwe, APN: live.vodafone.com, username: vodafone, password: vodafone, MCC: 204, MNC: 04, APN-type: default, APN-protocol: IPv4, Roaming protocol for APN: IPv4, the rest is blank) then click: Menu > Save. Then go back to the APN list and click the dot right to the entry you just created. Then restart your phone and you should have the new settings active.
By the way: In OOS 2.2.1 you don't have these settings but they are probably already righteous.

Yeah I got it to work finally. It was the APN setting thing. But what is odd is, if I use the T-Mobile APN settings it will not work. If I use MetroPcs (Which T-Mobile owns) then it will work fine. So go figure....

APN is fine. I also have the same APN in other ROMs. I'm also on Telekom.mk (ex T-Mobile Macedonia)
Tmob no.. Roaming +
If I'm on any rom other than OOS I can use data when roaming (99.9% AT&T tower) but have issues with data on T-mobile. However OOS = no roaming data, but no t-mobile data problems. CM 13 and MM roms are useless for a daily driver. I can't recall which MM rom I tried recently but I could not get it to register on t-mobile LTE network even in areas where Tmob was the leading network.
I am getting pretty tired of onyx... I have other network issues with the recent update.

I just installed AOSParadox and have no issues. You can try it if you want MM

Never ever re-lock your bootloader, it could bug it out so that you can not unlock it again and/or strange things can happen.
Be glad if you are not affected, but if you unlock it again, keep it that way since it's of no disadvantages to have it unlocked.
