Low wifi transfer speed. - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi folks I have a problem with lof wifi speed. I have a 100mbps connection and whilr i connect to it with my laptop speedtest show ~100 mbps dl speed. When i connect with my old s2 speed test shows ~ 30 mbps dl speed (thats probably becuse its just an old phone and it doesnt support such speed). But with my brand new s3 I only get 1mbps dl speed, which is quite low I think (especially when watching hd youtube videos). What may be the matter? I use official stable release of cm10.2 with boeffla kernel (latest stable version for cm 10.2). I never changed any firmware or radio. May it be the cause? When i got this phone i had stock 4.3.0 rom installed on it.

WiFi performance are related to the kernel, so the answer is yes- test your device with stock 4.3, cm10.2 with buit in kernel, and compare the results

Went to complet stock v10g

I dont know what magic LG used but v10g is much faster than previous software versions, comparision made on antutu benchamark and the performance is about 10% better.
Stock v10e : 7450~
Stock v10g: 8100~
Atm im using pure stock unrooted software and the phone is much faster and more responsive, the camera focus much faster and while im making video it is not losing focus or constantly focusing on the same object while recording.
They added few more options to keyboard for an example we can now write and build in ocr convert it to normal text.
Ram managment is much better and launcher almost stoped that annoying redraw thing.
Due to thos facts i will stay on unrooted v10g stock , because i use my phone to watching some anime via www and use social apps, only game atm im playing is Order and Chaos and it works realy perfect.
Almost forgot the 3G is working much faster now also and it connection is more stable.
Maybe it is placebo but i think they managed to patch some software bugs on system.
plz post the screen shots of other benchmark scores too. thank u :victory:

I tested same V10G Europe on P765 India, and have noticed and reviewed some of these improvements.....but....
...have you noticed the improvement in phone signal also. On my P765 the signal was always strong, especially while on 2G, the signal is always full (tight). 3G also looks too improved. Quick Connect in both.
Odp: Went to complet stock v10g
About signal i think it is the same but in home i got allmost all time 2-4 bars , atm im wayching signal bar and its stable 4 bar. No idea but maybe they realy done something no idea.

Odp: Went to complet stock v10g
After i instaled all aps ad used phone for about 3 days the points in antutu fell to 7258 after series of test , btw i found that battery drain faster than on v10e atm im going back to rooted v10e for few days to make full comparision.

My i9300 is slow and laggy

I've been on latest stock for a while, but it became slower and slower during time, so I've decided to root and in give few ROMs a try. I've flashed OmniROM and Android Revolution, but my phone is still much slower and laggier in comparison to Galaxy SII (on neatrom) or Galaxy Nexus (on omnimetal). Even Galaxy S1 with latest CM works better.
I've also noticed that it takes very long for MMS to be send, perhaps it's somehow related?
Any ideas what else could I try? OmniROM and Android Revolution should be fast and snappy, right? What could be the problem then?
I've heard that some i9300 phones might have hardware defect that causes similar problems. Is that true?

Backup any data you need from internal sd card then format internal card this solves many issues with lag especially when you switch between alot of roms like I do.

try blekota s5 rom it's very fast and smooth it's based on archiport
GTI9300 will be faster if you flash aosp roms like cyanogen mod or paranoid android. Prepare to lose some samsung features tho and have some extra bugs.. the trade is worth it imho.
EDIT:typos

Or do a mega wipe. Its mean full wipe + wipe system and internal SD And flash a new ROM
I can vouch for the Revolution HD ROM
About a month ago I switched from the pre-installed T-Mobile ROM to Revolution HD 51.0 on my Samsung Galaxy S3 (GT-I9300) and I have no regrets. Compared to the T-Mobile Rom, it is extremely fast and with very light battery consumption. In addition, I have not yet encountered any bugs.
The Revolution HD ROM is so fast that I have now begun using the search feature in the dialer - before, it was just as slow to scroll with the alphabet and finding the contact as it was using the search function.
The battery consumption is incredible! With light usage, my battery goes down less than 0.8%/hour. Even with high usage (>1.5 hour talk, ~1 hour WiFi/mobile data internet, >3 hour Bluetooth hook-up to my car, a handful of written emails and >30m sudoku per 24 hours) I have not been using over 1.4%/hour. I have gone from recharging every two days to every three-four days! My record was 97 hours without a charge and still 18% juice left in the box.
I use GPS navigation once in a while in my car and that consumes a lot of battery, but then the device is always connected to power (I haven't gotten around to try GPS navigation without charging just to check the consumption on Revolution HD).
I am not a techie, so I have disabled background services very conservatively (I killed most social app stuff, but I let services with cryptic names be) and I am using the Lightning browser which is fast and very light. In the beginning, I had a bit of trouble with battery performance until I read that the Power Saving feature must always be on. With the T-mobile ROM, the screen was a battery hog even when set on auto, so I set it manually - on the Revolution HD ROM, the auto brightness works well and conserves battery. It should also be said that I live in an area with good signal reception and coverage is good in most places I go (in areas with low reception, the device will automatically increase the juice for the radio unit).
I am very excited about the Revolution HD ROM, but I cannot tell you how it performs if you do a lot of social networking stuff (I primarily use the phone for work).

One solution is to format the internal memory like @tallman43 suggested.
Another reason maybe extra heat on processors. Did you notice this or the temperature is normal?
You can try flashing a different kernel and see if it makes any difference.
MMS sending is more dependent on network speeds so it could be unrelated.

try neatrom Lite v75 full with boeffla kernel and if u can find archi profile (performance) and u could clock to 1700 on boeffla config....i am now on resurrection remix rom 4.4.2 and phone is fast as hell ..it has minor bugs tho..
u can try AOSP NeatROM v 5.8
very stable and smoth. u can get free ram 400mb++

Best Rom+Kernel combo for Gaming ?

Hi, just got a N9 today. What's your best rom+kernel combination for gaming? Or is it best to stay on stock+root??
I would also like to know, i can't really decide what to use.
I just installed dirty unicorn, it's so far the best and fastest ROM I tried

Thing is, im playing World of Tanks Blitz, its an awesome Game. I have also a Shield Tab running stock with root and it handles that Game with all Graphics maxed out, about 55-60 fps all the time. My Nexus 9 running stock but without root have Problems, because if i max out all Graphic settings it can reach too 60 fps but drops from time to time to about 30. So my next step will be root and try some roms with kernels. This Tab(N9) should handle that game the same way as the Shield Tab, even if not better.

LG G5 game optimization selection problem from Full->Base

Hello guys , yesterday i purchased a lg g5 , when i played a game i could feel that something was wrong with it , searched the settings and found out game optimizator settings , i tried to set it at Base optimization but after a while it goes back to full one! I tried after a reboot same thing happened again , i dont want to disable it because resolution is too high and fps-battery will go down again , i really want that base optimization which just cuts down the resolution. Am i doing something wrong?
can yoy tell what game you tested ?

I tested it at real racing 3 and modern combat 5 which are heavy games and you need that extra fps otherwise the 2D games runs almost smooth with full optimization. The problem is that when i choose base optimization i need to go at home and dont delete this window in order to work , if i do or restart my devise or even clean ram with clean master it will go back at full :crying: might a software glitch or even a general problem need to patch it as it wont save the base setting. Oh forgot to mention i got a Antuntu 123000+ score with disabled game opt but with base opt got 134394 in summer!! I could get 141437 with air condition at 18°! There is a noticeable smooth gain in games with base opt.
I try to test psp apk and try fifa street 2 and runs as well on g5 normal about 3 fps and no slow motion

Performance isn't bad in any case , i just turn it to base everytime i do a ram clean or delete the settings window. What it did disappointed me a bit is that this phone throttles gpu really fast , i get high score at Antutu but if i look my 2nd test (garden) is lower than any other phone with snapdragon 820 thats why my device doesnt heat at all , coolest device ever by the way , but doesn't worth that performance for heat trade for me!

Slow WiFI connection from the Nokia 7.2 compared to the 5.1 Plus

Hi, I have 2 brand new Nokia 7.2 and an old (my previous phone) Nokia 5.1 Plus, and I have a problem that it's freaking me out. The issue is very simple, I almost cannot navigate while using a WiFi connection in my main Nokia 7.2, I have to use the mobile data connection so I can watch a video without any lag or resolution issue but that is not ideal.
So, I perform some test and I find out that my 7.2 does have like 50% of speed from WiFi (both in 5GHz and 2.4GHz) compared to the 5.1, and I'm not talking about external speed test, but in LAN (between my phone connected by WiFi, and my computer connected by gigabit ethernet) using iperf3.
After testing I got this results:
(Result's format: '-Band: AVG Speed (Min Speed -> Max Speed)')
Nokia 5.1 Plus:
-5GHz: 241Mbps AVG (214Mbps -> 252Mbps)
-2.4GHz: 41Mbps AVG (31.5Mbps -> 53.1Mbps)
Nokia 7.2 (both):
-5GHz: 116Mbps AVG (85.9Mbps -> 140Mbps)
-2.4Ghz*: 24.3Mbps AVG (18.5Mbps -> 29.2Mbps)
* I did perform like 3 tests in this case, and those numbers are from the best result. The worst result was like 15.6Mbps AVG
And that is not all. The setup is all the same. Same wireless router (I have 2, and I always check that both phone are connected to the best one), same phone position (like 0.5 meters away from the router, even less), the computer (server) is not doing anything that could use the network card or the CPU, and of course testing one phone first then the other one, and then doing the same but swiping the order. Also both phones (5.1 Plus and my main 7.2) show that have the same link speed (433Mbps) and both phones have Android 9 (Android 10 is not here yet).
The only difference between the 5.1 and the 7.2 is that the 5.1 has 802.11a while the 7.2 doesn't, but the issue about that is that standard is for 5GHz (and it's just for 54Mbps), so I don't think that this is the issue, because that should mean that the 2.4GHz's speed should be the same.
Also, is not like a hardware malfunction beacuse, as I said before, I did the same test with both 7.2 that I have and both have exactly the same issue.
I want to know if anyone has (or had) the same issue. I think that this could be a mis-setting or another battery saver package included in the OS limitating the speed just like when 5.1 had a battery saver that limitates the Background processes
Hi. I didn't experience as much as you did but I can confirm the phone is pretty slow on WiFi. My friend's Samsung J7 loads videos easily while mine gets stuck on buffering for eternity. I looked for this problem on Nokia Forums but I couldn't find anyone experiencing it beside me. I did read somewhere that forgetting your network and adding it again might solve it. I know, it doesn't make any sense and I might be delusional but I think the speed is a bit better now!
Anyway, I still believe there's a problem regarding WiFi speed on this phone. Perhaps it's a software thing just like you said. Anyone else who can provide an explanation of some kind?
