I know in order to mount a usb to my phone I need a otg cable but I was curious if there was a work around. I have a usb to mini usb adapter to plug in a usb device but my phone doesn't reconize it. If not its cool just curious

I have OTG USB host cable for Motorola Xomm. Is there any way this coulb be used with Atrix??
Don't take my answer as 100 percent. I want to say no dice on the usb host deal, but the hd dock and lapdock have usb ports for key/mouse. I think somebody mounted an external hdd but had problems. Hopefully somebody else can shed more light on this.
I voided my warranty.
It'll need a 5vdc power supply

Yeah there is a post on this already but the answer is that you just need a powered USB hub and that cable and you can use it as a host.

So ho come Galaxy S2 does not need powered hub??

I know nothing about Samsung, but my Atrix works fine as USB host. All you need is powered USB hub and cheap OTG adapter. I bought one from Dealextreme (sorry, can't post links). It works great with any USB keyboard or mouse or FAT formated memory drive.

I say give it a whirl and report back
Excuse me, how to connect powered USB hub and OTG adapter with Atrix? I want use keyboard and mouse with Moto Atrix. Let me know, please
I bought these on ebay. The HDMI is short but worked but when I connect both cables to lapdock, the USB is not being recognized so the keyboard/mouse is not working. I want this just to act as an extension so I can use full lapdock abilities with cables. Any idea what's going on (cable charges on plug but does not charge on lapdock)? Maybe someone has better usb cables.
fixed the link:

Is the USB cable an OTG? If not then that is most likely your problem.

mine has no trouble reading my usb memory stick maybe something bigger needs its own external power supply
I'll give that a try, maybe i'm just being greedy and wanting too much storage!

From my experience so far:
A) Does need external power supply
B) Mac formatted drives don't stay connected
Which USB cable do you use
I currently use one from a white HOX I bought from King on xdamp

Any Micro usb cable does the job. I use the one from my previous blackberry phones

I use any old USB cable to move files and stuff (though mostly I just eject the card), but in the car I use a charging USB cable so I can get the full AC charge voltage out of it.
Yeah same here. I like the kindle charger because its like 4ft

12-pin micro-USB
Standard one that comes with the phone 12-pin and a Motorola dual port wall charger cuz it charges the fastest.

Used to use the stock one provided with the phone, until one day I mis-unpluged it and both the micro usb port of the usb and the port of the phone got broken....
I then went and fixed the phone, brought some HTC usb wires from china......and the wires were really cheap...like $1/wire..
BTW, I'm talking about the Canadian WindMobile version of the phone, which has a strange&funny port shape than the regular micro usb ports the main version of the phone have(I'm blaming my fail on that which made me a little happier).....
Is it possible to find Micro-USB A to USB 2.0 B-Type....For people wondering what that is...imagine pluging usb cable into printer (that's type B same as ext drive) and the micro usb A is the other end to go into phone...Would it even work?
Well, on my phone I had to use a power supply, an USB Y cable, and an OTG cable, do some cable modification and with that I`m now able to connect my mouse and keyboard.
I tried connecting an USB flash drive but it sadly didn`t work.
EDIT: I got my flash drive to work using the APP USB Host Controller.
So... if you use an external power supply and an OTG cable i think it would be possible.
