I bought the pear training intelligence system (basically a heart rate monitor with feedback through your headset) after confirming that it would work with the note 3. As soon as I got my n3 (stock 4.3 unrooted), I tested it, and it connected right away. :victory: Next step was of course to update to kitkat and root, which went perfectly smooth. Now the heart rate monitor won't connect any more. It actually doesn't even show up in the bluetooth available device list.
Based on the Pear training app saying 4.3, I'm assuming it is probably just not compatible with kitkat, but is it possible that there is some sort of workaround to make it work? Or that it is something to do with it being rooted?
Has anybody been able to use the Pear heartrate monitor on a rooted kitkat note 3? Alternatively, does anyone have recommendations on a heartrate monitor that does work for this phone?
Thanks.
Somebody else had kk blue tooth problems, he did a factory reset and most of it was fixed.
Sent from my SM-N900P using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I actually went back to stock unrooted, still didn't work.
Rooted again, SACS kitkat v1, still didn't work.
Installed the xposed fitbit sync module. which did allow my fitbit to connect :victory:, so I hoped it would also fix whatever was going wrong with the Pear app bluetooth sync. Still didn't work.
Re-installed S-Health from the apk & the heart rate monitor suddenly started showing up in my bluetooth settings again, which it hadn't done since it was stock unooted 4.3 & it finally worked! Hopefully it continues to work properly.
It doesn't make any sense to me, so I still don't know exactly what happened, why it stopped working, or why it started working again. Hopefully this gives someone else a little direction if they encounter the same issues.

I have used Runtastic Pro and Runtastic Pedometer, and both have the same issue. They have a setting to keep the screen on while running.
Have you been playing with the "Smart mode" setting, set to Sports Mode (can be found within settings). With Endomomdo, I once achieved what we are trying to accomplish, but only once: screen of, pedometer counting as expected.
Maybe trying different scenarios might get us closer to a solution?
google mytracks works
I have a US 1/8 running 5/27 firmware with OTA update. Smart Mode = Normal
My tracks seems work fine even after the screen does off. I am getting very accurate maps of my walks.
is this smart mode setting only on the newest firmware? im running the bt rom from a lil while ago and dont see the option.
Maybe

I just got my watch in late July. It came with the 5/27 firmware. I have not seen/used any other version but from what I have read here it is something new just not sure how new. I know that I am not having the issues mentioned by those who got watches early so maybe it was worth the wait.
On that note I asked for a full breakdown of the modes and what they do and got not response. Not sure anyone has it figured out yet and if omate does that have not shared that info anyplace I have found.
With the new update on 11/07/2014 everything including GPS is working great with this rom. Great job done by lacoursiere18 in making this rom. However my new samsung gear live is not any more detected by the phone's bluetooth. But it does not have any problem in detecting and paring with my fitbit. When I rolled back to stock rooted 4.4.2 rom, gear live is paired immediately. Any thoughts on fixing this issue ?

Just throwing out a suggestion, bc I'm not sure if your watch does this or not -
I have DN3 installed on mine too, and have a Pebble myself. After reinstalling the Pebble app, I found that the watch was not wanting to pair up with the phone. I had to go into the watch itself and remove the previous pairing I had with the phone's old ROM for the Pebble app to pick it up again.
Does the Gear Live have something similar?

devious_z, thanks for the response. I do not see any configuration option to remove the BT pairing in my Samy Gear Live. Next time when I reinstall ND3, I will try to play with the reset option in my watch to see if that can resolve the problem of being detected by the phone.
This is a let down hopefully will be fixed...
Has anyone been able to get Android Auto working on this phone? Every time I plug in my phone to my car nothing happens on my phones end but on the cars dashboard it displays the message "This device doesn't support media function" I have the Android Auto app installed and launched and ive tried multiple roms:
Roms Ive Tried:
Jasminerom
Cyanogenmod
Euphoria
Paranoid Android
I have also made sure its set to MTP when connecting via usb and ive toggled USB debugging on and off on all these roms and still the same message!!!
Anyone else experiencing these issues or have been able to get Android Auto to work with vs985?!
Please does anyone have a fix for this?! This is on a 2015 Sonata btw.... Im also using the original usb cable that came with the phone... any help would be appreciated :fingers-crossed:
Edit: Whelp looks like Verizon strikes again... I just found this:
LG G3
"Android Auto is not currently supported in the U.S. on the LG G3 for Verizon Wireless customers. Google is working with LG on compatibility and will announce an update when the issue is resolved."
Verizon Auto incoming. Why else would Big Red cripple a function like that? They don't like completion like Apple so they do all possible to kill it.

Right?! Seriously though this is a huge disappointment... its literally the 1 of 3 phones that doesnt work with it... and it is only transferring data via USB.... someone on XDA must have an idea on how to get this to work properly...
Had this issue on my Note 3. (several diff roms)
Flashed it back to stock. (no root)
Working perfect now.
I have a G Watch R, Stock MM firmware. No matter what i do i cannot get notifications on the new PE1 update. I've re-installed, re-paired, wiped the watch, uninstalled/re-installed Android Wear. nothing. Everything else works fine on the watch, just no notifications. If i go into the AW settings and test the notifications, i get nothing either. Only thing i haven't tried yet is wiping the watch from recovery. And yes, notification access is allowed and i've tried cycling it. Anyone having similar issues?
This isn't a problem I want to see. I have a Moto 360, still on NK2, but thinking about going to gpe1 with (systemless) root/xposed if possible, but I'm worried about bluetooth connectivity with Android Wear and Garmin devices. Hope you get it figured out.
No problems at all with Android Wear, current version. My phone is on 6.0.1 and my ZenWatch 2 have been compatible with all of the apps that I used to date. No issues with BL or WiFi. Could just be an issue with your watch and not one with Asus.
Moto 360 v1 and S5 on 6.0.1 GPE1
Ok, I finally got around to doing the update and other than having to remove the phone/watch pairing, and wait for it to re-pair and re-load all of the apps, it seems to work as expected.
If only dismissing a text message notification on the watch could mark it as "read" in the Samsung messaging app.
I have a stock ATT Note 4 which finally received the M update (yay!) except it kinda broke my gear s (boo!) Watch is working, as far as a watch goes, and still connects via bluetooth. However, I am not getting even one single notification for ANYTHING. I have not changed any settings. The only thing I've tried was a factory reset, which did nothing excpet lose my pedometer steps for today. Any clue? I really, REALLY miss getting those notifications...which is my primary use for my beloved Gear S. Please help!

This issue was solved by doing a factory reset on my watch. Oddly, it didn't start working properly until a couple hours later, but it does now give me notifications again! I hope this helps someone else that may be having the same problem.
