I have Desire x Unlocked boot loader, s-on, Hboot-1.25.0002
I tried root my phone with HTC Quick Root in a virtual windows seven in Parallel desktop,
I select Universal Exploit and then clicked Root Device,
All Procedures passed OK, till my phone goes to Recovery mode, and HTC Quick Root prompted waiting for device...
at this time My virtual Machine doesn't identify USB attached to it.
I removed battery and insert it again and powered on my phone.
Now...
My phone working normally and I don't have any problem but I can not root my device at all,
Prompt Me " Error: Universal Exploit method has been patched on this firmware!"
I tried :
Frama root,
Kingo Android ROOT,
SRSRoot for Android,
CWM 6 recovery root,
UnlockRoot Pro,
DooMLoRD_v4,
Impactor_0.9.14,
SuperOneClickv2.3.3-ShortFuse
Can someone Help Me?

Don't root with toolkits, follow the tutorial in the general section

As you've also posted this question in the Desire X Help Thread you should wait for an answer there instead of having the same post twice.
In future, rather than asking the same thing multiple times, please be patient and simply wait until you get an answer. There could be a delay because people simply online at the time or maybe they can't help you.

Got root rights
Many functions and and changes in the system need root rights on our phone. In this thread I will describe all steps I and others did, to get them.
In this post you will find a history off all steps and the status, in post #2 a detailed documentation and in post #3 one day tutorials.
Status: beta testers with S-OFF
11.6.2011: Open this thread
12.6.2011: Collect all informations (and unpack my own Flyer )
19.6.2011: Prepare PC and Flyer
20.6.2011: run first script to got root rights in a shell (no success)
24.6.2011: Rooted for S-OFF Flyers (by dalada)
15.7.2011: Temp root rights with the fre3vo tool by agraben.
18.7.2011: Permanent temp root rights by eugene373
25.7.2011: First beta testers got S-OFF with help from the alpharev team.
Changelog and old versions
Documentation
The first stept to got root access to our HTC Flyer is to find a method which works. Until the first android phone are many different methods are successful but most off them didn't work for gingerbread.
I will first document all steps I or someone else did. Until know we have nothing but help and ideas are welcome.
After we find a way to become root access, we have to write a tool for everybody and after that the work begins... for all other stuff like custome ROMs
1.1 What others try
Here is a list off unsuccessful attempts until now:
GingerBreak: didn't work (second confirmation: LowFire82)
z4root: didn't work
1-click): didn't work
universal 1-click (based on 1-click)
z4mod (maybe z4root?): didn't work
So, no standard, popular tool works... But can everybody, who check one of the tools above (or something else), send me the log-files which are produced? thx.
PS. I found that different tools with the same name exists (e.g. 1-click), so when you test one of these tools, please can you specify which tool you use, with the version number. Thx.
1.2 Next steps
Okay, I didn't expect that it will be such easy. Next step for me is to read about all this methods in detail and check why they didn't work with the Flyer to find a little hole to get through...
1.3 Use fre3vo tool
After some changes and with the help from agrabren we got successful temp root rights. Until now we found with this tools the following exploits:
HTC EVO view 4G: last version contains exploit
HTC Flyer WiFi 16GB: exploit at adress 38126600:a00
HTC Flyer 3G 32GB: exploit ad address 38125e00:1200
1.4 beta-tests for alpharevX
The first beta testers got their Flyer S-OFF.
For more information and the current status read the last postings or on the alpharev homepage if the Flyer is now supported. But don't use the current verion 0.2pre5, it will not work!
All thanks go to team TeamWin and team alpharev and not to me!!! I only document until now the process.

Bootloader
Open the bootloader
HTC add a special "fastboot" option to his android devices. When fastboot is active the device can be set-on very fast but you can't open the bootloader with fastboot active. Therefore you have first to deactived the fastboot option.
1. deactivate fastboot
go to settings
select "Power"
unchek "fastboot"
switch off the Flyer
2. open bootloader
hold down volume-down button
hold down power button
wait until bootloader open by holding both buttons together down
Reset
So long we make test but also when we have an exploit, I am sure we need the functionality to reset our devices.
On other devices I remove the battery but the Flyer one is build-in and can't be removed.
Soft reset
Tap and hold on the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons
While holding on the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons, please tap and hold the Power button until the screen closes.
(Source: HTC)
Hard (factory) reset
Press and hold the VOLUME DOWN button
briefly press the POWER button
Wait for the screen with the three Android images to appear
release the VOLUME DOWN button
Press VOLUME DOWN to select FACTORY RESET
press the POWER button.
(Source: HTC)
Temp root
with the tool fre3vo
Be aware that this is only temp root and the device is still locked and you can brick your Flyer when you did something wrong with you root rights. Solong the device is locked, don't remove anything from the /system directory!!!
Download the last version from here
Download the android sdk
Close HTC sync (or any other tool which maybe listen on the USB ports)
use the adb tool from sdk with following commands (replace [exploit adress] with correct address from #2):
adb push fre3vo /data/local/tmp
adb shell chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/fre3vo
adb shell /data/local/tmp/fre3vo -debug -start [exploit address] -end [exploit address]
(all work done by agrabren and the fre3vo team!)
do the root and the 50$ is for you
There is a couple hundred bucks easily in the bounty in general section. My addition still stands.
Good luck.
probably a newbie question, but is it not working because they locked the bootloaders?
I agree $$ if you rooted HTC Flyer .

Locked bootloader
Yes, this is the problem. But I don't think that HTC at the end really unlock all his bootloaders and also with a locked bootloader it can be possible to get root access. So, when HTC like to help us, it's possitive, when not... let's try
And we are not allone, also the Sensation has the new locked bootloader and the devs there are also working on it. And maybe a solution there help us also.
Do we know if an XTC Clip works on the Flyer? I realise this is a hardware solution, but it would be good to know...
The GingerBreak.apk does not work, got that
Has anyone run the manual way with the binary file? Even to see if temp root could be accomplished?
I may try tonight when I get off work to see what happens..

Not to affront someone but until know we should assume that all exploits are not really testet. We only have single confirmations that the ones from the first post are run onced and not working.
I plan to check all of them also to get the log files.
what's the hboot version of the Flyer? can someone post a screenshot with the hboot screen?
An S-OFF method for the Incredible S, Desire S, Wildfire is said to be released soon, check this thread, if it has the same bootloader maybe that exploit will also work on the Flyer. Root access is the only thing keeping me from buying the Flyer...
That what you were looking for
Sent from my MB860 using XDA Premium App
yup,
and it looks like the exploit might work check this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HqJfxv-FOxU this guy had 1.13 on Incredible S and he flashed hboot 1.09 S-OFF.
However, after reading that IS thread it looks like temp root is required and they are using gingerbreak binary for this (not the apk).
I see this also and from the past I know also, that htc devies from the same time, can be unlocked with mostly the same exploid. I will contact thema in the evening. Or someone else did it before?
PS. And we need temporaly root rights. That's always the first step. But when newer HTC's can here use the gingerbread exploit, we also can use it. Very positiv news...
Tried the binary GingerBreak last night with no success getting temp root(even let it sit and run for about 8 hours), but I brought my Flyer in to work with me today and am going to try on another computer...
I'll update if I get something different

Time for our first tutorial.
Development for CWM for this device has begun!
Head over here to lend a hand, or just check it out
Hello huawei users, and welcome to my second 'Root your mediapad 7 youth' thread
Find the original one here
The only difference between this thread and the one linked above is the tool used
This one uses Kingo Android root(English), while the one in the other thread uses Vroot(Chinese)
Of the two, I believe Kingo root is easier to use, as it has step by step instructions in English
DISCLAIMER
1.Neither me nor Kingo is in anyway responsible for anything that does or does not happen to your device as a result of following these instructions. This includes but is not limited to: bricking your device, abnormal functioning of your device and voiding of warranty. Continuing with this guide is accepting these terms.
2. Rooting your device will most likely void your warranty. You have been warned.
3. This guide is intended solely for the device mentioned in the title. It is not meant for use with any other device, and may have unwanted effects.
That being said, let's get on with it
Prerequisites
1. Fully charged PC
2. Fully charged Huawei Mediapad 7 Youth (s7-701u)
3. Kingo Android Root. Find at this link
4. USB cable
Steps
1. Install and setup Kingo
There is a simple, standard windows wizard to follow. Nothing complicated.
2. Plug in your device into your PC
At this point, make sure kingo is open
3. Follow the on-screen instructions
These include enabling USB Debugging, clearly demonstrated on-screen
When it's done rooting, it will reboot, and you are rooted with SuperSU installed.
It's really that simple.
It didn't work
I've installed king root. I had to download HiSuite only then it started to do its work. Then again it still failed.. Although the app tells 'Root Successful' and restarted the tab, it still failed to root... help please

I'm sorry to hear that you couldn't root your devices
Run through this FAQ to see if your computer and device are in the same config as mine
1. Do you have the Android SDK installed?
If not, go here : https://developer.android.com/sdk/installing/index.html and choose the 'eclipse ADT' option
2. Do you have the Java Development Kit Installed?
If not, go here : http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E19182-01/820-7851/inst_cli_jdk_javahome_t/index.html and follow the instructions
3. Do you have ADB configured?
If not, go here : http://androidcentral.us/2013/08/how-to-install-android-adb-and-fastboot-on-windows/
If following the above steps still does not help, PM me, hang in there, and I'll try to get back to you :good:.
@whhw31 I'm surprised that neither Kingo nor Vroot worked for you . I'll look ino this and see what I can come up with.
I'm working on a cwm port, but i am not done yet. I will alert you all when i successfully port it .
When that is done, flashing SuperSu.apk + supersu should be a piece of cake .
Till then, just hang in there a little longer.

I am also looking for the same. The device is detected as "MyHTC" and it seems that the bootloader is locked. There is no fastboot option to get the device id to unlock bootloader. I can get into recovery mode. I am not able to post the link to the product page but you can search and find the same on site iball.co.in.
Please try installing Towelroot on your device and using it to obtain root. It will root many Kitkat devices.... uses a few different exploits to achieve root access.
There is a LifeHacker thread on it here: http://bit.ly/1qAobRl
I tried baudi root to root my device. The Chinese superuser is installed but there is no root access. And that superuser apk made my tablet sluggish. Can u tell how to remove the superuser.apk. my tab isn't rooted.
And towel root and many other apps doesn't work.
Thanks
And I want to tell that first I installed kingroot and my tab was rooted. But game killer was not working then I unrooted . then again tried with baudi root but It made my tab sluggish.
Please help to remove that superuser
Download the latest kingroot.

I could get into fastboot mode through adb command "reboot bootloader". However, fastboot screen is blank with only "Fastboot=>" mentioned at bottom left of screen. In bootloader mode device is recognized as "mtk6582_phone". I don't have the phone ROM file that could have been used to create custom CWM recovery and without root I cannot backup the phone ROM. One-click root methods fail. Any ideas?
Try to root with kingroot it rooted this device.

I am little skeptical about using methods that are not well-known. You mentioned you faced some issues after this..?
I tried Kingo but it failed
I said to use kingroot and not Kingo root. Download it here kingroot.net
So here's the long awaited root!!!
Just use the following root tool. I just Used it myself
Its called root genius
Download it here
htt p :// downloa d1766 . mediafire .com /9g59 3gbw8bjg/j17ivc iz1x808wo/RootGen ius_v2.3.0.zip
Just backspace the spaces in the link and copy it to the address bar of your browser then press enter to download the file.
This is because i couldn't post a link
I am sure this works fine

and the second page comments for recovery hints. TWRP requires some study and preparation before use so it's not good to be stuck when attempting recovery.
Note the comment on the 3rd page about the updated recovery image that lets you see what you are doing on the screen. For me I got it working, working in the dark (ie. not seeing anything on screen), so it's too early for a video tutorial.

Rooting using Kingo Root
Rooting nowadays is very simple.
But the easiest way to do it is the following:
1. Download Kingo Root for Windows, Mac or Linux;
2. Install Kingo Root;
3. Open the program;
4. Connect your phone to your pc through USB cable and wait for Kingo Root recognize it;
5. If your phone is rootable it will appear a button saying "ROOT", click there (If your device is not rootable then you are out of luck and you must try another method)
6. Don't remove your phone and don't click anywhere, wait until the rooting process is finished;
7. After this your phone should reboot, it means you are now rooted (If your phone did'nt rebooted, manually reboot it then);
8. Enjoy!
Note: Rooting will void the device's warranty, root at your own risk.
Download the phone's drivers if needed and disable Windows, Mac or Linux firewall if needed.
Hope it works for you!

I just purchased the Alcatel OneTouch Pop 7 LTE (9015W) from T-Mobile and I was wondering if there is a method for obtaining the boot.img and the recovery.img so that a custom recovery and root can be created. I looked at this guide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1801690) and it mentioned that I needed root in order to get those two. Is there a temporary root method I could use so I can obtain those img files? It is running Android 6.0.1 if that is an issue or not. The stock recovery information is listed as:
Code:
TCL/9015W/Pixi4-7_4G_TMO
6.0.1/MMB29M/vBC3-0
user/release-keys
in the same boat
Like the original poster i have the same device and tried every (literally) way to try and root this device with no success at all.
If anyone has the key I would be in your debt.
I did come across recovery and stock rom and worried because they are one year old. BUT, I am ready to try anything.
Same here. I'm trying to use this tablet for my cars dash, i figured it'd be sick for all my car functions to be in a tablet with LTE. But most of the cool functions need the device to be rooted. Desperately trying to figure this out.
Same
I have the same one, been trying to find a rom whether its rooted or not, or custom, its stuck in a boot loop, i can get it power off and get into recovery, but factory reset is a no go. If i had an image i can flash it and pray i can salvage it.
Yes it'll be nice to be able to make this tablet useful, use internal micro SD as ram, remove google bloat ware and sightly over clock.
Got this device for free but if I can't root it then it might become a Christmas gift. LOL

Hi.. In the same boat as you.. There is a temporary root method for 6.0.1. Install the latest kingroot on your pc and on the 7 lte. First try to root it from your pc( it will not be able to root it) then use the kingroot on your tab. Voila you have your temporary root. You might have to try it more than once. I personally use it for adaway for changing the hosts file and the root goes away if I restart the tab.
Best of luck man hope you can get us that permanent root and custom recovery!
Possible temporary rooting method found!

I may have found a simple way to achieve at least temporary root. By accident really lol...
I was playing around with hidden menus and found an app available on the Play store called "Hidden Menus"
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.freespirit.hms&hl=en
For tablet users, this is a perfect way to access some of androids secret menus typically only accessible through a dialer. As tablets generally have the dialer excluded from their systems, this is an awesome workaround.
On the Pop 7 Tablet (9015W/9015B) there will be a selection near the top of the list labeled "com.jrdcom.user2root"
and its selection will show .User2RootReceiver. Click this and then press yes when asked if you are sure if you want to run it.
running this option will bring you to another screen that will have "com.jrdcom.user2root.JrdUser2Root" at the top and then underneath will have two buttons labeled "Root" and "User". These two buttons will change your default user for ADB.
If you press "Root" you will see a message flash at the bottom of the screen that says "Update to Root Success"
Thats it!
Plug your Alcatel Pop 7 Tablet (9015W/9015B) into your computer with your usb cable (Make sure to enable USB Debugging mode first! If you don't know how, just search Enable USB Debugging on xda. Enabling this feature is beyond the scope of my post for today.
Open command prompt and type "adb shell" (Without quotes of course)
you should see the prompt change to something like the following for example:
Code:
[email protected]_4G_Telus:/ #
All Done!
Just be aware that rebooting the device seems to force it to default back to user mode. If you see this:
Code:
[email protected]_4G_Telus:/ $
then you are in user mode.
Hope this helps!
The user2root tool doesn't seem available on my T-Mobile branded version of this device.
Amazing!!! Worked for me too
Alcatel Pop7 LTE 9015B from Virgin canada (Bell)
Not a permanent root, but at least I was able to get rid of facebook bloat (com.facebook.appmanager, com.facebook.system)
These packages were impossible to deactivate and were using background data
