You need unlocked bootloader or for locked bootloader this: WWW(DOT)play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pvy.CWMinstaler&hl=cs
But, always you need root. It´s good for backups, installing ROMs and much more
Install x-parts from google play, start it, then hit Install CWM. Your phone must be rooted to do this.
I have installed it already guys!!!! After installing it said 'installation is complete please reboot and use the options'' how to use it further guys can anybody tell me???? All says, flash it via cwm but how flash any file????

Did you try rebooting into CWM?
Turn off the phone, then, turn it on again, when the sony logo comes up, wait abit for it to flash then spam the volume down button until it comes up.
If it still didn't work, spam the power button instead of volume down.

okay see what you should do exactly is that when you reboot your phone and the device turns on... as soon as you see the sony logo keep pressing the volume DOWN button and tadaaa you'll go to the cwm menu
if not keep pressing the volume DOWN button as soon as your phone vibrates after the reboot
click "THANKS" if it works
Try spamming volume up

That would goto download mode. Try volume up+power+home to see if you can access recovery. We need more info. What were you doing, are you rooted/unlocked? Explain the situation or we can't help you

It was running a rooted injected stock rom So it had stock recovery and I guess would be a locked bootloader. Then we followed a guide for returning to 100% uprooted stock from Android Central, downloaded the link to return to stock and the Odin failed with the green bar on the phone only about 10% done. We clicked the Odin reset and disconnected the phone and then we get the message "firmware encountered an issue" also something about Kies and try again. Did battery pull and vol dwn +pwr and still same message. Didn't try the the vol+pwr+home yet. Maybe that will get me out of this loop?

Had my son try at home and no go. Still message says "firmware encountered an issue. Please connect to recovery using Kies and try again. Do I have to have Kies running or drivers downloaded? Is this something like iTunes that you have to have connected to the phone to get it to restore?

Son wasnt holding buttons down long enough. got it into the download mode and the stock file would still fail. had to download the alternate stock file to get it to pass sboot.bin and now all is fine

Can you boot into the bootloader?
To enter bootloader, hold volume UP and power.
Upon entering the bootloader, you will notice that there is no 'menu' to enter fastboot or recovery. Unfortunately, since the stars didn't align properly, we were unable to tell the new bootloader where to load the images that contain the menu from.
In light of that, you'll have to navigate the menu blind. Use the volume keys to change selection, and the power key to select.
The choices are (in order of pressing volume down):
Start - boot the phone normally [already selected]
Restart Bootloader - reboot into the bootloader
Recovery Mode - enter recovery (CWM)
Power Off - powers the phone off
So, to get to Recovery, you would press volume down twice then power.
Thanks I'll try that out will post results shortly

I tried that nothing comes up even while blind navigating nothing happens tried rebooting into both recovery and bootloader from the power down options and nothing other then this problem the phone works all except both Wi-Fi 4g Data but both were working when I first flashed the ROM

Also when trying to go directly into the bootloader from when the phone is turned off its nothing but a black screen

If you have the android-sdk boot into the rom, and try the command
adb reboot bootloader
or
adb reboot recovery
Ok I'll give that a shot I'll try it out when I get off work.

Was your phone connected to computer while trying to enter download, and does your computer recognize that you have connected to it? Sorry if these sound like obvious questions but trying to rule out what we can.
Yes my phone was connected while trying to go into download mode. And when I plugged my phone into my computer it does recognize it.

I would ask for help in irc maybe ping Shelnutt or autoprime. I was going to suggest running freegee again to see what happens, bit am not sure if that would be risky. Wish I had a better answer.

Phone should not be connected to your computer until your have the program running and the volume buttons pressed. So does your phone say download mode on screen ? You said your computer recognize it, does the program recognize it ?

Nothing comes on the screen when I try to go into download mode just a blank screen like it's off no backlight or anything. The program does show something when the phone is connected but still didn't work.

While the phone is on I turn it off and then while it's completely off I hold both volume keys and press the power button. When I do that nothing comes up not even the boot screen.
