My First Note mic broke (confirmed at bestbuy by Samsung rep) So I got a replacement with Geek Squad insurance. This is why I hesitate to root. the other thing is I pretty much like stock but I would like to up battery life by getting rid of Bloat I have a mj4* I updated ota to Kit Kat. Tripping Knox make me hesitate as well I previously stuck with HTC evo line so this is my first samsung would tripping knox keep me from being able to use certain programs/functions? What would be my best option for rooting I heard* kingo steals info and sends it to china???!? I'm acting like a noob but I have rooted all my evo's but this isn't htc lol

Not dumb, there's lots of topics to read about how and why, most people here dont care about Knox, just read forms and get a vibe for what people say and go from there... I was an Evo guy from the start and came to this... This is way easier and a hell of a lot easier to fix of you screw something up... Wouldn't mind seeing a Viper rom here..

To get twrp to work, you need to use the 4.4bootloader version, for root, you need to use the 9005 version, read those threads and links are there.. And from my experience, Odin 3.09 works best.

Guys,
Thinking about picking up a new DNA and selling me excellent condition old one, because I want to S-OFF and be able to flash updates and such. Anyone know if new units are shipping with the updated firmware yet? I will probably order from Amazon Wireless.
Thanks,
Y2J
I don't know about Amazon, but I got an insurance replacement from Asurion last Thursday. It was a brand new phone sealed in the box, and it came with the OTA update :/
I guess we will find out when it gets here today, otherwise looks like I will have to find one on Ebay...
Got mine from Radioshack with the update.
Downloaded Holo Launcher HD and Holo Locker for a stock look until s-off is achieved.
Got mine from Radioshack also with the OTA update. I hope they figure out the new cid soon

I just got mine yesterday and as soon as I powered it on it started downloading the update. I couldn't even tell it no! Do you think Verizon would care enough to send me one pre update so I could root (sarcasm)?

They all ship s-on, you need to check what base yours is on to determine if you have the OTA or not. S-on/S-off has nothing to do with the update though.
Oh okay will check that now

Not so Lucky. Phone had speaker issues so back on my Note 2 returned it to Best Buy last night before they closed.

Can we download this new ota software update if we are rooted/s-off? I'm running viper Rom and I'm not sure if I can do this ota update.

Not sure why?
Just curious. The larger the size usually the more important the update. Smaller ones just tend to be bug fixes.

My stock phone doesn't show an update available. If there is one, someone should capture it.

Hmm actually your right..haha I didn't look at the dates on what I found on google, it was all old..I dunno why I got this update notification now and it won't go away..
Look at the last few posts in the Viper thread in the dev forum. It was a mistake on their part, you can disregard the update, as it does nothing.
Heloo there i just bought a LG G2 and i see tha fleshlight on the back of the phone is constantly turned on not too much but still i see the light in it some1 have the same problem ?

Jokes aside, if the flashlight (led) is always on, you might want to check all running apps. Maybe an app running causes it

I like to get a tmobile galaxy s5 and have it operate on my att network. Reason being of the unlocked bootloader. Is it as simple as to purchase the unit and root it for it to operate on att or do i need a tmobile account?

Hate to say it, but there is a search button.
This topic has been thoroughly discussed on these forums already.
Ps, this is a Tmobile forum.
Not trying to be harsh, but give me a minute and I will see if I can find some links for you. ..
