Just wondering if anyone has hooked up an external touch screen monitor to their phone, and if touch capabilities work. I hook up a keyboard/mouse/monitor throughout the day at work, there would be an added convince if touch was possible. Anyone know if it is or if it would have to be a dedicated product to the device?

Hi all, I was wondering if there was anyone here who has or atleast heard of anyone that has the TV Out Cable. I was interested and needed to know if the FM radio function worked with the cable plugged in?
Also, if I was using a touchscreen computer monitor, could my touches control my TP2?
I just tried using the tv out cable and it doesn't work with the FM radio. Still asks to plug in headset. Also tried the adapter and you need to plug in the headset as well. Plugged in 3.5mm headset and working now.
as for the touch screen. i dont think you'll be able to because the touch screen computer monitors need to send a signal back to the device to let it know where your touching.
BUT what you could do is install a software on your pc like Soti Pocket Controller, i think theres similar software thats free, then control your device via your pc from that software.
the tv out cable does not work with raido and i am glad i was given 30 days to return it is worthless for this phone but it is suposed to be`able to use on future htc phones
no the touchscreen will not work simply because you need a conection between the touchscreen itself not the display, touchscreens use two conections, one for the display and one for the touch input, so if you was to plug the display adapter to the phone, where are you going to plug the touch input? now... im working on a carpc and i was thinking it would be cool to use my phone as a frontend, since everything is mobile and so convinient, but i need my touchscreen to control my phone, so i need somewhat what i used to have for my omnia, which is a program that displays the phones screen on your pc monitor and you can use your mouse and keyboard to control your phone, since my touchscreen replaces the mouse, voila! it could happen, but i cant remember the name of the program and cant seem to find the htc equivalent, now somobody help!? lol

Sounds like you want MyMobiler. Free, gives direct control of your phone through mouse/keyboard (or whatever you have that replaces them), in a scalable window.

That's what I was going to suggest. I use MyMobiler all the time, and it's awesome.
BUT: While it's fine for normal phone use and presentations, it's no good for video or games, because the refresh rate is low. That's where the TV out cable would be more appropriate.
my mobilizer is win...
a tad bit laggy but if you connect your phone to your computer with it, you can then use the touch screen on you computer to control the cell
got mine today
I ordered an aftermarket TV Out cable from a dealer on eBay... $12.50 including shipping. It arrived today, and it was a good purchase.
I will be able to use it for PowerPoint presentations (and to show YouTube videos) at work. Video resolution isn't bad on a 40" HDTV and doesn't lag. I use MyMobiler all the time on my desktop and laptop PCs, but this adds yet another ability to my awesome Tilt 2.
Hello all, iv recently purchased the Acer T series monitor for use with windows 8, it is absolutely wonderful and extremely responsive with 10 point touch, IPS, and 1080. I was wondering where i should even start when trying to get this to work on my Razr. It needs only HDMI and a USB cable. i tried the obvious to just plug it in and the monitor worked but the touch didn't. Can someone at least point me in a right direction or just where i could get some more information because i have found absolutely nothing. i cant believe no one has tried to hook and android device to an external USB touchscreen. This would be awesome if i could use a HDMI android stick/ RPi with this instead of my phone.
I recently purchased a dell 20 inch touch screen. One of the major selling points was that it supported an MHL-HDMI, meaning 1 simple cable would supply both an HDMI and USB connection from my phone to the monitor... which it does. The issue however is that the touch screen does not respond correctly to input. Anywhere I touch on the screen it simply hits the same spot near the top left over and over. USB devices plugged into the monitor (it's also a hub) work just fine.
I thought it might have been the cable so I tried an external MHL adapter and ended up with the same result. Then I hooked up some other android devices(tronsmart prometheus, and an ouya (running CM11)) through hdmi with USB attached and again received the same response. It does however work normally with every variety of x86 computer I've tried; even android x86.
This seems very similar to a configuration issue I fixed on an a touchscreen Ubuntu laptop years ago. Some googling helped me solve that one quickly and easily, but the problem is that I have no idea where to start on this one. Searching is almost impossible as any combination of "android" and "touch screen" tends to take me off in the wrong direction. Even here 4 out of the 5 threads I've found are at least 5 years old and quite hypothetical.
Of course it could always be a deeper issue involving a lack of kernel support, in which case I'm probably screwed.
Any suggestions on where/how to start? If nothing else this can at least act as a warning for people not to buy MHL HDMI touchscreens and expect them to work with android phones out of the box. At least not yet.
Thanks for any ideas in advance
i`am exactly in the same position right now, beside not having bought a touchscreen yet.
my thoughts were also to buy a dockingstation for the htc one x (m8), to have
hdmi and usb , then just connect both to a touchscreen monitor and make use of mhl
to make it work, meaning having proper touch functionallity on the monitor.
and you`re right, i`am searching this topic for some time now, seems like this idea diyed out in 2011,
at least according to the internet
so, not much of help from my side, but def. interested to see how this thread goes !
I've looked around and I see people have some problems with HDMI and Remix .. but I don't get any image at all. I thought it's simply not supposed to work, but now I see other people got it working, even with problems.
I have ASUS N55S notebook. Internal screen works just fine, but connecting anything over HDMI just does nothing. Am I supposed to turn it on somewhere ?
Lenovo W500 Laptop, tried with VGA, DVI and Displayport, nothing! Wifi Screen castign doesn't work either.
I have a Lenovo Idea Pad Z710, internal screen and external screen both work with out problem's.
There is no way to toggle between screen's which I can find.

Mine works on Dell 15r 5520 laptop with Intel+AMD dual graphics, but it shows the lower (laptop screen) resolution on my external Dell 27'' monitor in the middle of the screen with thick black frame around it. The external screen is connected via HDMI.
I've searched all over the Internet for the solution and the only successful one was to phisically unplug the laptop screen. The system will then "think" my external screen is a primary one, and adjust the resolution accordingly.
If there is anyone with the "normal" solution here, please tell me how to do it.
Thanks!
I can't believe nobody solved this issue!!??
@djcukor in Remix 2 you could use external display in exclusive mode - screen shown only on the external display. Now it's only mirrored - so the resolution is currently not adjustable. No idea how's the status on this.
I often connect my Nexus 6 to an external bluetooth keyboard and mouse. It works wonderfully and the keyboard shortcuts make it especially efficient for writing longer answers to emails, browsing, or, for example, writing this thread post. I could get my laptop out, but that's often less convenient. An external display would make the experience even better.
I know the Nexus 6 does not support MHL or SlimPort, however I was wondering if anyone has found any other potential solutions? I'd be interested to know if anyone has managed to get a DisplayLink USB adapter via USB OTG to work with the Nexus 6.
Chromecast is not an option because of the 0.5 - 1 second delay, even when the Nexus 6 and Chromecast are within 2 meters of the wireless access point. I'd be interested to know if anyone has ever managed to decrease that delay to usable levels however.
Another issue associated with connecting an external display, even if it's through Chromecast, is the native DPI. Mirroring the display means controls, text etc. are huge, which is a waste of all that extra screen real estate.
Back when I had my Nexus 4 I actually got the above-mentioned setup to work quite well - external bluetooth keyboard and mouse, external monitor via SlimPort, and then I used an app called Second Screen to automatically adjust the DPI down to 160 (IIRC), which is equivalent of a standard desktop OS. The only issues were that 1) Second Screen required root, which I would like to avoid, and 2) the Nexus 4's performance couldn't really do justice to the setup. I'm confident that the Nexus 6 can, however. In fact, I'm generally puzzled as to why Android developers have spent the time necessary to make keyboard and mouse support work so well, but not improve the external display capabilities, e.g. native HDMI out support and automatic DPI adjustment once an external display is connected. With that - BAM - you would have a fully usable desktop replacement for light, everyday tasks. Android would be one step closer to conquering the world.
My solution this was to buy a wired adapter for the chromecast in addition to a micro usb to ethernet that worked with my phone. Both ethernet cables hook into my router and I can effectively mirror my device wired. Obviously there is probably still some lag, but is now below the threshold that I can perceive.
I would love to find a more elegant solution to this issue, for some people this is not something they would really use, but I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that would really like to see this happen.
would be cool to have a large touchscreen monitor with permanently powered phone for a silent computer. I have it all minus a busted screen.
