Usb port of my Samsung infuse 4G isn't wotking, when connected it charges but pc doesn't recognize. I've tried with different USB cables. when camera is opened it gets stuck and shows black screen. i thought this could be a problem with ROM but i was unable to update ROM as my PC doesn't recognize it, i'm able to enter download mode using OSB jig but still odin doesn't recognize it. it has Android 2.2.1 installed on it and it has not been rooted. Any help would be highly appreciated thanks in advance!!

did you try to make a backup of your contacts on your SD card and do a factory reset of the phone. It might be some setting. It happened to me couple of times on my HTC while working with the HTC stock ROM.
If it didn't work you might try to follow this guide

I've already done factory reset several times and wiped the data using recovery mode too, but no improvement. thanks

I am having the same issues. I have 2 of these phones that are doing the same thing. Both have been rooted but NO new ROMS have been downloaded. Both phones worked fine with the stock USB cable until 2 days ago & I haven't been able to get either to be recognized by 2 seperate computers. One is Win 7 32bit, the other is XP. I can get them to show 2 portable drives; however, when I click on either, or try to drag & drop in them, it tells me to insert a disk.About to go ape crappers! HELP!
I have this exact same problem on my Infuse: USB port works for charging but the computer doesn't recognize it and the device acts as if I plugged it into a USB -> AC power adapter, and when I bring up the camera it's just a black screen and controls that don't do anything. I just tried resetting to factory defaults, even rooted it and flashed to another ROM (ZEUS) and it's still having the same problems. I'm just wondering whether it's a hardware or software problem. Anybody figured out a fix yet?

I have a galaxy s II i bought about 8 months ago in germany, It worked great with 0 issues, ive moved sevrel roms and never had a single issue.
last week I updated to the JB preview CM10, MTP worked fine when I connected it to my PC and I had no issues other then the occasional reset.
anyway, this Friday I was using it as a modem, USB tethering, when suddenly it stopped working, I unplugged it, tried another port and I get unknown USB device, I thought maybe it was just a temp issue, but I reset, re-installed drivers, and still nothing, my PC runs windows 7 64 bit, I tried at work with multiple cables and windows xp on multiple PC's, also tried ubuntu, nothing...
I tried that USB code thing i think its *#2738# something like that to switch between modem mode to USB and still nothing...
weird thing is it charges fine, the connection seems to be good and its not loose... im starting to think it got static or something cuz in my days as a PC tech I saw this happen many times with USB Flash drives, the contacts would get static and they would go...
any ideas?
P.S I tried re-installing kies, and nothing...

I would try on another PC first. If it works, the phone is fine so far and there is something wrong with the PC.
I have same problem. I almost tried everything (uninstall and reinstall usb drivers and kies, uncheck usb debug, different pc or cable, reinstalled firmware...) but none of them worked

tried 4 def PC's, with windows XP. 7, ubuntu 8, ubuntu 10.10... nothing.
tried cleaning the contacts, still nothing, charges fine but no USB
hello guys ! 1st: try to connect the phone into a computer with kies installed (last version prefered ) 2nd , you will see in the right part of the screen : Instaling Drivers , wait for the instalation and after this will be show a window with autorun GT i9100 !
How bout trying a different usb cable..
1: Try Different Pc
2: Try Different Usb Port
3: Try Different Usb Cable
4: Uninstall kies and all othe pc suites and also drivers reboot and install these drivers and check if it connects

If these dosin resolve then i dobt its a prob with with ur Motherboard or the Usb port
Put your phone into download mode.. Flash a official ROM by using Odin..

I've tried all the above suggestions, 4 cables, 4 PC's, 4 OS's, Uninstalling and reinstalling on varoius computers (drivers and kies), samsung codes on the phone to switch from pda to modem and back to pda, flashing stock rom, formatting all cache and data... Im looking if there is some advance trick im missing, I think we can all agree that this is not an external factor like cable or computer, its like my data contacts on the socket are dead and only the charging is working.... has anyone ever heard of this? or maybe there is something on the phone that I can flash that i havent that doesnt get flashed during wipe, stock format?
the annoying thing is this phone was bought in germany and i live in israel and there is no warrenty here, it means I have to wait for someone to go there to fix it...
I mean for now I can copy stuff using a micro-sd adapter but its super annoying!
if anyone has an advanced trick that worked for them it would be amazing! if not ill just have to accept my fate

then it can b a hardware issue .. either usb port issue or a motherboard issue
u can try changin ur usb port ... u can order 1 from ebay and fix it urself ..
I've had the same issue but because of water damage
on another note, Try cleaning your port with a soft tooth brush.

Fixed it! it was so stupid yet no way of knowing,
so i almost ordered the flex cable but said I'd clean the inside first to make sure its not the issue, I opened the back case and while cleaning I noticed a ribben was loose, lol, i just popped it back into place and walla, worked like new!

I have a rooted international Galaxy S3 (i9300) phone with a custom rom: UltimaRom (version 8.x), and using XXELLA kernel (?) and XXELLA Modem version.
Since a while, I'm trying to manage the files in it (phone memory or sd card) from my computer, simply by using an USB cable (the one given with the phone or even other cables, it doesn't matter) and the standard MTP protocol, which is used by Google since Android 3.0. And, whatever I try to do, Windows doesn't seem to notice anything. In my device manager, nothing appears. Nothing either in the "My Computer" window, it just doesn't "exist". No reaction at all from Windows. The Phone's charging, but this is all it is.
And I have the same problem using another computer (like my own laptop, or my brother's one). All computers are running Windows 8 x64 Pro.
I tried to install, re install, delete, etc. all the phone drivers I have on this computer, tried to install Samsung Kies, tried some "mounting" apps on the Play Store, nothing's working.
What should I do to make it work?

Might be stating the obvious but is your phone set at usb debugging? I have the same issue from time to time but when I unplug and plug back it fixes itself.

That's odd.. I use Ultima ROM and have updated to 8.1.1. I just checked just to make sure (my last update was done OTA) and yeah, computer recognized phone right away.. heard a little computer sound and everything. I am also running Windows 8
The base changed in v8. If you haven't done a fac reset since then you should try that.
Ok I just tried to make a factory reset, nothing changes...
Oh, and if that can help: when the phone's booting, Windows says "Unrecognized device". When it's booted up, it disapears.

- Easy UMS doesn't seem to work, even if the app doesn't show any error on the phone
- How do I connect via ADB ? I tried to connect the phone while it is in Download Mode, nothing appears on Windows or Odin
- As I said, in Download Mode, Odin doesn't seems to recognize anything...
And of course, I already tried to change the cable, the USB port, or even the computer i'm connecting the phone to...

Starting to sound like a damaged micro USB port on the phone possibly, or a driver's problem
Oh, and there's a thing: when I reboot the phone, while the Samsung logo appears on the screen with the short jingle, the PC makes 3 or 4 times a sound like something has been plugged, and showes a "Unrecognized device" warning window. When the boot is finished, and the rom is loaded, everything just disappears and no sound is any longer made by the PC.
Also, please note that when I connect the phone to the PC (using the same PC, cable and USB port of course), the phone charges up just like before, without any problem.
have you tried the old drivers?
search Google for " Samsung USB drivers 1.4.6.0 "
disconnect your computer from the internet
Install the drivers.
don't reconnect to the internet.
connect your phone and let windows find the drivers
Well, the day before it occurred to me that I'd like to install a custom ROM, therefore I went on to plug my phone into my PC and for my surprise, the phone didn't pop that MTP warning and the PC did not recognize it.
So I went around and changed USB ports, cables and PCs, same thing.
Decided to try Mass Storage mode, when I press the START button and put in the cable it goes back into the main start screen.
So I went on and tried that *#7284# trick people used since apparently 4.0.3 bugged some crap stuff in the phone, no success either.
Strangely enough I can connect the "pendrive dongle" and it will map pendrives.
Well, I don't have my phone rooted or with SU so that means CWM from app store won't be able to install the recovery module, and I can't install... you get the picture.
Nor ODIN nor HEIMDALL will recognize my phone in recovery mode, wich suggests that the data lanes on my phone went somewhat dead.
Finally, any cable I plug in the phone says it's charging my device, wich leads me to belive that the usb port is dead.
Anyone had this issue?

3. install kies on pc it will install all the drivers that you need
4.your usb port(of the phone) is dead

Take to customer service with your warranty and they will fix it without charging anything just tell them your problem and say that you read that most of the galaxy s2 users have this problem and that you didn't touch the hardware of the phone

Warranty has already expired.
Kies was installed on the PC, ODIN gives no info @ COM port.
I wanted to connect it just to root and install CWM so I can swap ROMs as much as I want.
Thing is, the customer service wants 1 week to assess the issue and probably 100USD to fix it.
So for some god-knows-why reason my phone decided to conect to MTP while charging, I quickly restarted it into revocery mode and flashed CF_Root w/ CWM5.5.

For future you should change your USB-Port. Here we get one for about 15 € (about 20 $) in ebay. It's very simple to change and then you have a full working phone again. Just watch the Videos on Youtube and everyone can do this. Hope I could help!
I put a stock sammobile I9100 xwlse 4.1.2 jelly bean rom on my Galaxy s2 worked fine for 2 days now I have problems charging the phone saying after half an hour its charged when its not also windows 7 will not reconise the device anymore tried factory reset still no joy even when I unplug the charger or plug it in its go's slower to start charging or stop chargeing its annouying the hell out of me tried on windows to uninstall the drivers and reintsall to no avail any ideas

About the battery problem, it seems like it's out of "sync", you should let it from exactly 0 to exactly 100. That should fix it.
About the not recognizing, have you tried different USB port on the PC? Tried on another PC? Tried with another phone? Tried with a different USB cable?
You have many options, now go try them.

I am having a similar issue, when I plug my phone into a windows PC through USB the MTP driver is buggy, have to reconnect and change to media device a few times until it installs, and then the issue afterwards will be the phone will seem as if it is being plugged and unplugged multiple times after its been disconnected (usually when I have media player running too) ... this issue was non-existant before the software update so I'm sure its gotta be an issue.

Tried what you said and no luck tried draining battery and recharging but still saying fully charged when its not also tried to conect to a diffrent computer still no luck there either and I did try a diffrent usb lead and still the computers say device not supported anything else to try

The thing is that it doesn't make any sense
You are not rooted are you?
Your usb flex must be dusty/busted.
Nope not rooted tried uninstalling drivers and reinstalling even tried Keis not a thing I get error code 43 on my pc even though the drivers are there it says usb device not reconised so for some reason which is doing my head in I cannot get it to connect with my pc on windows 7 also tried it on another computer with XP on and get the same problem tried driffrent usb ports and usb leads as well
Error 43 is a start.
Disable the antivirus and don't install the drivers, install kies.
Try a laptop.

Tried my galaxy 2 again tonight after I replaced the battery I suspected may have been faulty ie not holding its charge and low and behold it is also connecting fine to the pc now I do not know if this is related it could be but as of now for some reason I am puzzled its now working on my pc thanks for your help in trying to solve this problem will alway pop here from time to time to read about any problems I may get and for updates once again thanks for your help it great having a site like these for help:laugh::good:
