I just got done talking to a best buy representative, and they told me that as the of 2 days ago, any kind of hardware change will cancel your unlimited Internet. So you cannot purchase phones from eBay and use that loophole anymore.
Edit: Apparently this is a false flag and Best Buy has zero clue of what's going on. But I'm not saying that they won't close this loophole in the future.

I talked to Verizon yesterday about going to the note 2 and they never mentioned anything like that. They confirmed pretty much what I already know (In order to keep your unlimited, you would have to upgrade another line, or add a line, then transfer the phone, or supply your own phone) You shouldn't always believe what you hear, especially from the salesmen at best buy.

They said they have had a bunch of angry customers these past few days and that Verizon is trying to close every loophole possible on us unlimited planners.
If this is true I'm ditching Verizon and going pre-paid. Nexus 4 on Straight Talk is looking pretty promising.
Ok? So what would happen if I switch while under contract? I'm good up to October.
This isn't true, I'm not saying the OP is making it up, but I do think the guy at best buy is blowing smoke up his ass. If this were the case, it would be all over the internet by now. Try googling it.

Honestly I'm not inclined to believe it either. Even if OP's story is true, I've been told blatantly wrong information from Best Buy and Verizon sales people on multiple occasions.

Well right now, how me and my wife are doing it... We have 4 total lines, 2 with unlimited data, and 2 with dummy phones. To keep our unlimited, we just upgrade the dummy lines, then transfer the new phones over to our unlimited lines. Our unlimited plans remain untouched.

i'm sure i would've heard of this.
if this is the case, then that first time you do an ESN switch, you'd lose unlimited. i esn switched to my DNA 2 weeks ago, and i'm still good. if i ESN switch to the gs3 to get teh update and i drop unlimited, i'll let you know, raise hell to verizon, and possibly leave them after 15 years if they won't give it back lol

They said it's as of 2 days ago. I really hope they have no clue what their talking about. IF it is true, I'm gonna have to treat my rezound like a baby.
So, my DNA screen cracked, as some of u may know. Well according to my tracking #, HTC got my device saturday, now i know they probably didnt even know it arrived until today. But i havent got an email, or a call from them yet. Have any of u dealt with HTC repair? And if so....did they contact u to let u know they recieved your device? Also, how are they to deal with? Were they efficiently fast? Thanks guys. Any replies with knowledge of HTC repair would be greatly appreciated.
I paid the full 600.00 retail for my DNA, and i was sure to put my receipt showing that in with the phone i sent them. Lol. So u can see why i would b a little worried about it.

It is kinda your fault, if its not your fault, whose fault is it. You took a hot phone in the cold. Glass cracks with extreme temperature changes.
But 220 does sound very high. I would think more like 100

You might want to revise what you told HTC.
Ya, i saw that already, but in my defense.....the phone still got super hot when charging. Also, ive seen a few others with cracked screens already too!
I called htc to dispute the 220.00 fee. They are going to work with me, since they told me it was covered before i even shipped it to them.

Fighting a claim of "customer induced damage" is a *****. It's kind of a hostage situation. They have your phone and if you want it back repaired you have no choice but to pay up. If you choose not to they'll also charge you for shipping it back to add insult to injury. If they say no to a warranty claim it's still got to be repaired so you're kind of stuck. I hope it works out for you.
What can possibly make them repair cracked screen for free? Without any other signs of abuse? Any ideas?

When you get it back, fixed, get a squaretrade warranty on it. ADH is covered and they are quick to repair or pay you retail.
It is well worth the $100 bucks

My only option is to have Verizon send me a refurbished phone. Do you think I should? The lady at the Verizon store said that since the s4 just came out that the refurbished phone would probably be brand new. Should I take the risk? I mean, if they sent me a refurbished one and it was scratched etc I'd send it back and tell them send me a different one. Wouldn't send them my original s4 until I made sure I was happy with the refurbished one.

I'd send it back. There would be no scratches on a refurbished phone. They have new screens on them. They are rebuilt and go through inspection. Honestly it would be no different than the one you have now.

Not sure if this will put your mind at ease but I just received a replacement phone as my earpiece sounded like a blown speaker...very annoying. The replacement had a screen cover indicating that it was certified like new so I assume it was a refurb but it looks and performs perfectly for me. No issues in five days so far with the replacement *knock wood*.
Like new cert is a refurbished. You can compare the back inside sticker to stock and tell it's a refurbished.

Ok well I guess I'm happy. I called Verizon and they are shipping me a phone and it will be here tomorrow. They let me change colors too. I have a black one but I think the white looks cleaner. He also put it in the notes that I would prefer a brand new device instead of refurbished. I'm definitely going to check everything on the phone tomorrow. Speed, build quality, battery temp, call quality and benchmarks. If all of that checks out then I'll keep the new phone and ship mine back.

Hi guys,
I bought a SGS4 the other day for $300 used. It came in the mail and it doesn't seem to work. I want to take it to Verizon to get a warranty replacement, but I'm afraid whatever is wrong with it was caused by the previous owner doing something that voided the warranty. Worst case scenario is I have to pay another $99 and use Asurion to replace it which I'm totally willing to do. Basically it turns on, but the LCD doesn't, only the backlight. It also gets super hot super quickly. I doubt it's bricked, I'm guessing water damage or the LCD went bad.
Take out the battery, put it back in, hold down volume and power, what happens?
Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk 2
If you think it's water damage check the sensors. And did you buy it with the impression that it was working 100% and nothing was wrong with it?
